- Military experts have called Iran's ariel attack on Israel on Saturday night 'ambitious' and warn it could push an already fragile region into a dangerous new phase.
On the Sky News Daily, host Matt Barbet examines how Iran and Israel's 'shadow war' has moved out into the open, alongside defence and security analyst Michael Clarke.
Matt is also joined by Dr Roxane Farmanfarmaian, affiliated lecturer in international relations of the Middle East at the University of Cambridge, to examine what Iran was really trying to achieve from its attack.

Marriage of church and state. They are about 500 years behind in evolution.
Considering the current us politics (republican), the Iranians are 50 to 80 years ahead
over a thousand actually
To my understanding, Under the JCPOA Iran's nuclear increase was not reduced to zero, it failed to detect the enrichment and the reports are wrong.
Exactly right. The JCPOA allowed Iran to self inspect.
Oh lets see:
- The Brits forced Iran into concessions for oil drilling.
- After the secular democratically elected Mosaddegh nationalised the oil industry then deposed him in a a violent coup they engineered.
- They installed the Shah as a dictator who's intelligence services the 'Savak' trained by western agencies would imprison and torture dissidents.
- After the revolution in 79, they financed and helped arm Saddam to invade Iran in an 8 year war that killed between 1-2 million civilians.
- The West has being imposing sanctions, including on medicines on Iran since 1979, including flu vaccines that that now kills a huge number of people every year. Iran has 50% of its foreign exchange reserves frozen by the West.
- The US reneged on the nuclear deal agreed on and supervised by the major world powers because in the words of Trump, it was a 'bad deal' - (read Israel made them)
- The West has been banging the drums of regime change and has tried to instigate numerous colour revolutions in the country and its intelligence agencies support anti-regime terrorist groups.
- And Israel (which is the West based on its so called 'values' and more importantly the origin of its people) has routinely attacked and assassinated politicians, scientists, and infiltrated the country with spies.
- And now all this.
So I would say Iran has probably got reasons for 'hating' the west.
So biased.
I thought Iran said they were a loving country that loved everybody. 😂😂😂
So much for not hating anyone.
What about the reaction of the rest of the world to things like the flour massacre, killing of aid workers, Hind Rajab and more general issues like the apartheid?
Why people are not talking about Isreal attacking first Irani Embassy why blame Iran 🇮🇷 😮
so who controls the iranian proxy armies then?
Eye ran control hummus.
First, that was NOT an Embassy. Next, If Iran puts their IRGC active Command Center for Syria, Lebanon, and Gaza in their Syrian Consulate it is no longer a Consulate. It is an Active Enemy Command Center.
Oh wait, it was actually in a building NEXT TO the Consulate. Calling it a Consular Annex is telling us even Iran doesn't want us thinking they are using their Consulates for military activity.
Oh wait, Benghazi? Who organized and financed the attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi???
@@bradsays Iran has a right to defend it self if Isreal nasty government go hit their Embassy for no reason think about it
Culpa de US of A.
Schizophrenia.
Not just Iran: look at all the comments on your pages.
Canadians dislike but calling that hate just shows a flawed understanding of the complexities that is English.

Why Muslim American Chanting: "Dead to America" in Michigan the US City???
🌎 = 🙈
it might be because america staged a coup in iran in 1953 overthrowing a democracy and installing somebody who would sell america oil cheap, dunno? i think thats the kinda thing that people dont forget. we installed a lot of dictators in the middle east, lol we even installed saddam and then uninstalled him lol what are we like!
Fake news as usual, Israelis do it best.
What does crink stand for???
Which kinda heading is this?
Useless piece
They’re not very keen on Saudi Arabia either. Wrong type of being peas full apparently.
"let's go back to 1979"....
Iran and the Arab lands had a thriving contributing Jewish community post 1948 which were infiltrated by European Jews to cause problems which left them no choice but move to Israel.
The 1979 Iranian Revolution led to the replacement of the Imperial State of Iran by the present-day Islamic Republic of Iran, as the monarchical government of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was superseded by the theocratic government of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, a religious cleric who had headed one of the rebel factions. The ousting of Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran, formally marked the end of Iran's historical monarchy
Cool story but the podcaster tried to set the narrative that Iran out of nowhere just started hating on Israel from 1979.
As I've previously replied to others, there was over 2 million Jews spread across Persia and Arabia who lives quite peacefully until the Europeans but "100% semites 🤥" moved to the middle east.
Strange how we didn't have destabilizing wars and mass migration from the Muslim world before that....
@@FontaineDerby 1953 a coup by america overthrew iranian democracy and installed a dictator who would sell them oil.
Iran loves Israel and America. ❤
Sure got a weird way of showing it.
We are majus, the slayer of muslims
Yeah and everyone loves Israel….
Why do countries have to love each other? Can't we just be friends?
It seems like a lot of countries came to help Israel when it was attacked by Iran
Seems like no one dares say it, but Iran is the most disliked place on earth
@@burns281981anyone except Israel right now.
@@ashishd380 ya that response makes no sense in English little guy.
Just speak in your own language and I'll translate it myself.
Why Israel and America hate Iran?
Since Iran violated Jordanian airspace, Jordan should let Israel use their airspace. Why wouldn't any sane person not target Iran's nuclear weapon development facilities?
What has Israel promoted by it’s action of occupation ??
Iran 🇮🇷 is not at fault it’s the Israeli at fault shame on Isreal
clearly not a fan of history then. Although in a sense youre right, its not irans fault or the people of iran. Its the fault of the IRGC who took control in the revolution and have driven iran and the middle east into the ground ever since.
Funny how they do things, but never take responsibility for their actions.
Almost like this could be a core issue. (People on both sides can feel free to assume this message was written about them.)
lol
Yeah, could this be genocide yet again towards the Israelis. It is becoming apparent amongst the middle east. Maybe explain why such low numbers of Jews and Christians, could be ethnic cleansing 🤔
The number of missiles/drones Iran launched against Israel was cynically calculated. Just further proof of their alignment with terrorist organisations, especially Hamas and Hezbollah.
omg
