I've been getting a few questions on this service change by USPS so I wanted to make a quick video for you all explaining exactly all the changes and even breaking down the new rates for USPS Ground Advantage. Let me know if you have any questions down below!

That free $100 insurance is huge for me. I sell electronics and have had multiple packages getting lost in transit and had to refund the full amount and take a 100% loss. This is definitely a huge benefit to those that sell light weight, pricey items

You could go to purchase label download qr code and scan it at the post office and still have your discount was good for small part time seller like me who currently does not have a printer
Get a thermal label printer on Amazon. It’s like $60, you get the labels for free from ups, and it will save you tons of time.

Excellent video! Thank you so much for doing the research. We ship most of our items first class, which is far cheaper than parcel post or priority, and we give FREE shipping to most customers. If we had to start shipping 8 oz Parcels at the 1 lb parcel select equivalent rate, our shipping cost would double! So glad that is not the situation here. However, if you go on USPS right now, and compare first class rate vs USPS ground, for an 8 oz package, to the same zip code, it shows USPS first class about 40% cheaper. It looks like they're charging the same flat rate for anything up to a pound for USPS ground. Hopefully they will make the adjustment you were showing and give us our 4oz Tiers like they did with first class. EBay is not offering the ground Advantage rates yet so we cannot see their adjustments yet.

Yep! I saw the rates on your video and in the link. Love that they show the same for first class and Usps ground. But when you go on usps right now, and click " calculate a price", first class is still not showing the same as USPS ground. ie - price for an 8oz std package from 23236 to 23236 shows $5.40 1st class, but $8.60 Usps ground. I realize Those are retail rates. But regardless, It's currently keeping the rate the same on USPS ground for all ounce weights from 1oz up to 16oz and not giving any per ounce benefit like 1st class does. Hopefully that will all change July 9th as rate chart shows. I'm guessing once first-class disappears, they will finally sync up rates. 🙏🙏🙏

This is really going to help sell some of my heavier items I have on Mercari. I only ship with USPS, not having to send everything either first class or priority will help. I'm slowly limiting selling on ebay and moving the items to Mercari. I just started doing this two weeks ago and have sold 40 stale items so far. After working twice as hard on ebay with no results in better sells and raising promotion to ebay, I make more money per sell on Mercari.
I'm selling a lot more on Mercari too. Whats great about them is they don't constantly fiddle with bumping some people ahead of others and deciding who gets seen, they make a point of everyone getting equal market share, small and large sellers. The accursed 'algorithms' that primates delight in putting on our backs. Much simpler and better to sell things without them imo.

I just sent a client some pet wellness and rate was only $3.81 for an 1oz package from OR to CA. Love it way more than UPS.
Ground Advantage is the best value now for shipping anything over 1lb

My stamps just updated and anything over 13 oz can't go 1st class and the price on one 14 oz package jumped from $4.23 FC to $6.07 GA.
eBay and pirate ship are still anything under 15.9 oz are usps ground advantage. And zero change to the rates. Just shipped multiple items that way.

Yes you can give them any USPS packages.

I went on the USPS site to buy stamps...you said not to? Where is that better place? Also, why does the USPS charge .63 for first class when it's still .60 until 7/9. I went there to buy forever stamps at .60 but can't. Why is that?
Buying stamps is fine there just don’t buy other postage.

So, what happens to store inventory that is already listed? Does eBay automatically change from first class to grounds advantage, or do I have to go into over 100 listings and change everyone? What about store templates? I have 50 of those. Do they have to be edited? I just checked and under shipping eBay has not added the grounds advantage option. It still shows first class mail. It would be almost impossible to have to edit every one of my store listings one at a time to change shipping. Any thoughts?

On your ebay page you go to your Hi (your name) click the drop down, select account settings, business policies. This is where you add your new policies for shipping etc. You just go to the policy that shows first class and edit it and change it to the usps advantage. This will ask you if you want to change all of your listings. I had about 500 and it changed all of them. Hope this helps!

They sell super fast if you get them at the right price. Anything sells on eBay it just depends what you pay for it if you can make money on it.

Does that mean all the old USPS boxes won't be useable after the switch date?
Usps didn’t have special boxes for first class or parcel select, they only have priority boxes and priority isn’t changing.
Priority boxes are free to the seller using the other services we will need to purchase boxes which will add $1.25 + to each sale.

Save the boxes you get in the mail and have other people do the same. I have multiple people who save me boxes and I break them down and I always have the size that I need and don’t really have to buy boxes outside of what I use for boxed shoes.
Hi. I am more confused after watching your video. You said the price for ground advantage is the same as usps first class. I don't understand that. If you look at usps first mail, let's say you send out 10oz large envelop, it's $3.55. the screen that you show for 10oz underground advantage is $3.99 for zone 1 and $4.44 for zone 9. Do you get these price from usps website or we have to through another company to get the discount? I hope you can help answering and clearing up my questions. thanks
Use pirate ship or go Shippo. USPS will upcharge you
Thank you so much for writing back. If I go to ship or pirate ship, the charge is still higher than what usps first class listed. For example, 10 oz first class would be $3.55 for retap and $3.05 for commercial. shippo and pirate charge $4.79. How do I get even just the retail price let alone the commercial rate. Do you know how?
First class is no longer the same thing and you can’t just mail anything like that, it’s only for flat items (under like 1/8” thick). Everything else should be shipped ground advantage. If you check the USPS rate on ground advantage, it will be way higher than pirate ship. You can’t just ship anything first class, it’s only flat things now.
Thank you for helping me. Just to clarify, if I send out a t-shirt using poly bag and it’s 10oz, 1/2” thick, I should be able to get first class price, can I not? If I couldn’t, how? USPS would charge $4.79 if I go thru their website and shippo and pirate too. My problem is usps lists those price but I don’t underhand how to get it. Thank you again for your help
It was a typo. It’s like 1/8”. It’s meant for like postcards. You cannot ship Normal items first class, they must go ground advantage.
