The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water - 2015
Life is dandy in Bikini Bottom for SpongeBob Squarepants (Tom Kenny) and his friends Patrick (Bill Fagerbakke), Squidward (Rodger Bumpass), Mr. Krabs (Clancy Brown) and Sandy (Carolyn Lawrence). However, when the top-secret recipe for Krabby Patties is stolen, SpongeBob finds that he must join forces with perpetual adversary Plankton (Mr. Lawrence) and come ashore to battle a fiendish pirate named Burger Beard (Antonio Banderas), who has his own plans for the delicious delicacies.

I like how this movie has completely different plots throughout it. Starts with a war, becomes apocalyptic, has time travel, then they go to the surface and then become superheroes. it’s insane but fun

This is one of those movies that should be enjoyed, rather than judged or criticized, like the Mario one. A lot of people now just judge movies rather than simply enjoy and have a good time.

It’s honestly nice that this movie will get some appreciation. It may not be iconic like the first one, but it’s still fairly good

Yeah I thought the movie was pretty good when I watched it
That awkward middle film between the universally loved original and near universally hated threequel (which I still haven't seen). Misleading marketing kinda played a part as the live action sequence ended up being shorter compared to what was believed based on the trailers. Finally gave it a watch shortly after Hillemburg's passing and it was definitely much better than expected.

This one was good when it was new. Its a product of its time. The original SpongeBob movie is timeless and will outlive this movie because it was "smarter" with its jokes and music while this movie was more "cool" and "with the times" which obviously as time goes on trends die out. The rap battle at the end just seems so cringey today but it was cool back then.
The trailers never told us _how long_ the main characters would go above water. If you thought it would happen before the movie was half over, that was your mistake. I do not think the first Spongebob Squarepants Movie will make Sponge Out of Water be forgotten with the times, and if you liked the way Antonio Banderas played Puss in Boots in all of the Shrek sequels, plus his spin-off film and the critically acclaimed sequel to that, which is Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, might bring some more good publicity back to this movie in which he plays Burger Beard.
I like seeing this movie get more positive admirations, it’s never gonna have the same status as the first movie but it’s definitely still enjoyable.
I actually like Sponge Out of Water more because it did more with the main show's characters and settings instead of going on another long road trip movie adventure like the first and third movies did. Its variety of consecutive storylines that are connected over the same overarching conflict is what makes Sponge Out of Water the most unique Spongebob movie. Now, I know that is not the same thing as being the best Spongebob movie...but in my heart, I still believe that it is.
I really don’t care for either film adaptions of SpongeBob, guess I’m the odd one here. The SpongeBob movie trilogy should be fun on paper, but each installment just gets worse than the last.

The comedy absolutely holds up more in this movie. A balance between superheroes and time traveling, and out comes a underrated classic!

I’m glad this movie gets more love. It’s always been a bit underrated in my opinion, especially for the shows quality at the time.
I myself think it is fairly rated because you can’t say a movie is good because of the shows less than good quality at the time. By saying that you are saying that the movie is better because it could have been worse and I don’t think that is a valid argument.

Personally I think this movie aged really well, majority of it is good, but the surface with 3d and turning randomly into an action superhero movie just showed they completely ran out of ideas, I mean come on, they didn't even at least turn them into the super heroes they were in that one Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy episode...
That’s mostly because the third movie was so bad, it actually made us appreciate this movie more.

Back when this was coming out, the advertising was an awful lie because from the TV ads, to the DVD box, to EVEN THE MENU, I thought this movie was primarily going to be a 3D Superhero adventure. I spent the whole movie waiting for that part to come and was left with it feeling mid.
Now that I’ve watched your reactions and realized how funny this movie really was, I oughta go back and give it another shot.

people need to realize that NO spongebob related movie will ever be a good as the first one. the creator literally left the show for years to work on the first one. as far as spongebob movies go, this was actually really good, it just sucks that people say its bad when its only bad in comparison to the first one.

This video was Jude’s cannon event. He finally found a movie that commentated itself, thus letting him experience true cinema for the first time and leading him to question his reality. Truly one of the spider-men of all time.

Bubble Bass has actually became a recurring character on the show since this movie and even has some episodes dedicated to him. 'Moving Bubble Bass' from Season 11, 'Bubble Bass's Tab' from Season 12 and 'The Big Bad Bubble Bass' from Season 13.
Quite impressive since he only appeared once or twice during the classic era and maybe just once during Season 4-8

Third movie had good plot and animation and didn’t jump around in the plot like the second does. There is nothing wrong with the third movie. It didn’t copy any plot, and before you say Have You Seen This Snail, let me remind you that Gary is kidnapped in the movie, instead of running away due to lack of food.
Fun Fact:This Movie marks the return of Hillenburg in the show,and after this movie he stay/work in the show as a executive director in seasons 9b-11 (Ressunaince Era of the Show) until the day of his death in 2018.

I watched this movie with my best friend back in college and we were both pleasantly surprised how good it was. That time travel scene was so wild.

"Fun" fact: this movie had a lot of studio meddling like they weren't allowed to use Mrs.Puff or Pearl because they weren't as popular as Sandy, and there where a LOT of deleted scenes like Burger Beards backstory and The opening song also there the reason the movie has CGI
People usually hate on this movie, but it's really good. I see how one from 2004 is a better movie overall, but this one holds a special place to me. I remember being excited for it when it came out in 2015, and when I watched it back then, I felt like it was the greatest thing I ever watched.

I’m so happy that this movie has grown to see the light of being known “excellent” in every way cause most movies for some reason must have the term *worst* or *best* movie of all time even tho you should just appreciate a movie how it is instead of comparing it to first movie and it’s sequel (As long it doesn’t assassinate any characters, plot, world buildings, and themes or messages and just provide nostalgia or references to something it’s base of then the movie is fine or good.) and what it try to represent and tell with it’s story, of course this movie would or wouldn’t live up to the first SpongeBob movie BUT this feels like a great introduction of SpongeBob as a character and the series of what it is while the first SpongeBob movie feels like a final of the series and I appreciate both of them. (And yes the third one is agree to be the worst of the bunch and even the baddest SpongeBob movie of the trilogy and franchise. Why you may asks, Because cause is copying the first movie plot of road trip, more Celebrity’s guest than usual, even the villain is another royal king and he’s not entirely bad but he’s not interesting and entertaining at all compare to the last SpongeBob villains and that one episode of Gary leaves SpongeBob to find a new owner but this one feels least emotional and force completely different then how that SpongeBob episode had really touch my heart and also being a tie in reckon for a series that is set it the past, that is just trying to trick you into watching it cause Nickelodeon has nothing much do with the SpongeBob franchise. But the second one people say IS that movie cause how different it is and thinking it’s tricking people that it’s referencing nostalgic to SpongeBobs whole lore, which I don’t see and buy it, it’s just I think that maybe AND Ok remember I think in my opinion cause remember this is *my* opinion not yours and no one is getting offended or call out unless your Nickelodeon in this example but we’re are all good your awesome and thank you for letting express this far to my point, thank you again I appreciate it.) some people have an epiphany of loving the first one and doesn’t think it should have more movies base off the series and consider all SpongeBob movies sequel are considered worst movie cause is a sequel to something that really doesn’t need a sequel to or have more after the story conclude and to think that any sequel after that is consider awful like a Toy Story series when they continue after the third movie and is quote on quote ruin the franchise is a bit of an exaggeration, but this ain’t that and I wouldn’t consider it best either I just love it feels like a sponge episode but longer like the South Park movie and it’s humor it’s great and joyest to say like watching over the hedge or something good and comforting) I hop you find it interesting, my favorite part of this movie is the war bits and apocalyptic theme acts, I liken bubbles and burger beard as characters and Antonio Bandannas did a good job as this movie’s villain and this was a fun superhero parody at the end. I'm surprised that this movie had actual good (almost iconic, old spongebob-like) humour considering it's from 2015, when comparing it to the show's quality at the time. The jokes were actually funny and enjoyable.
The episode with the Drive Thru came from Mr. Krabs refusing to patch a hole in the Restaurant and instead repurposed it into the Drive Thru, but when it didn't work out like he wanted, his solution was to break more holes into the building. Based Construction on his part.
