  • I have burned out on flying a number of times and in this video I want to share with you my experiences and how I used emotional intelligence to become more resilient, make better decisions and fly further and safer!
I’m doing a ‘spring tuneup’ course for pilots. The TLDR is its a live, online sports psychology course for pilots, weekend mornings in april. Mindset, motivation, fear and risk, and psychological tools to maximize flying progression and minimizing accident and injury. Would love to have you!

The subject you mentioned is actually the elephant in the room in paragliding , we fly a lot ,we learn a lot about techniques ,manouvers, but haven't been taught enough how to control our emotions how to evaluate our mental state before, during and after flights. Over all thank you for opening up this topic which I have never heard before .

So is there a time to quit paragliding? How would you know? When is it time to move on?

Great question. Only two ways to get out; quit or die. Id say plan on quitting! And keep asking yourself this question so you can figure it out for yourself.

Is it really a problem though? I don't think at any point it affected his competence as a pilot. It might have been unacceptable in a social setting (which it wasn't) but perhaps its a good and healthy thing to vent some emotions.
I'll add that I wish I had enough ego to be that demanding of myself. As it stands I have near zero competitive drive. Accepting mediocraty might be worse overall.
