I’ve had one since 2020 and it’s a bulletproof beast. I almost completely strayed away from harbor freight generators after buying the $100 tiny pos that wouldn’t start once but glad I took the chance on the predator 3500. Thanks for the video man.
I’ve heard dozens of raves about these and finally needed one recently because of the ice storm that recently ripped up western WV and just so happened to catch one coming off the truck at the local store. I have a Honda 2000 and it’s awesome, I can’t say enough how impressed I am with my predator 3500! It’s quiet, quality, and very efficient.
it's February 15 2021. The great Freeze got to devour most of the US including Houston Texas where I live. I live in the country in my 37 ft fifthwheel and the freeze got the power throughout Texas to stop. I started my predator 3500 in sub freezing conditions with the electric start. I havent ever charged the battery and it still starts right up. I've owned it a year and bought it used. I absolutely love this generator. I'll buy another one for sure some day.
When I go camping I have a 30 year old 650 watt gen. That I use to run a 100 ft string of Christmas lights that I use for area lighting. Works great lights up a huge space. everyone loves them.
I’m going to look into getting one of these generators.. why in the world do 17 idiots give this honest review a thumbs down???!!! The review was great.. we get a lot of Harbor Freight tools etc.. and as you say some of it’s great ,some not so much..
You please always do you, from reviews to building doesn’t matter I always enjoy what you put out so if you wanna do more review reviews then do them because one thing I can say the reason why I keep coming back to the Crockers the whole family is because of the honesty and the forwardness and no Clickbait!
I have a predator 4375 and I love it,pull rope only but it runs my whole camper ac and all,got it on sale alot cheaper than that though, you got your money Worth
It is a great generator for you Jason , I’m glad it has worked well .just watched Jaylena’s video and came here to watch you . My two favorite people 💕🙏💕
When pull starting any gas operated tool/lawnmower/ snowblower, generator etc pulling the cord halfway out twice then give it a full pull makes starting gas engines easier and it works. Thanks for the video informative and interesting
To be honest, I really think predators are made in the same contract factory as Honda small engines. And they just rebrand them. If you open this up, the design is identical as Honda.
I have a predator I think its a 4300. We only use it a few hours a month when the power goes out. But it has never let us down. These honda clones are great for the money. I actually went with this brand because I seen it was what you used. Call them up and demand that referral fee.
I have the 4300 and run it 24 7, that's about 2200 hours every 3 months. Wouldn't have any other kind. I have been using generators for over 10 years. It runs everything in my house. Cost for gas about 3 350 a month.
Buddy this topic fascinates me. I know this post is old. But are you still running the same Predator generator? How many hours on your generator? I love to go to sources like you who use this stuff to the max. Thanks in advance. Also, if anyone else has 1000+ hours on a Predator, please let me know the size generator and max hours you got in it. Thanks!
This is a great and very helpful honest and detailed review. Ty for taking time to give us a whole years worth of experience with such an important item. Hopefully Predator contacts you and starts sponsoring you.
When you were looking for recommendations for a good generator, THAT is the one I has heard was equal in quality to a Honda generator at half the cost. Several Nomads use the Predator and love it because it is very quiet. 👍
Yamaha has a generator that is equivalent to yours and they cost $1600. I am going to get the Harbor Freight like yours. Thanks for the tip. Take care. Vaughn
I also live in Oklahoma. I bought two of these and I run them parallel to run both my A/C in my fifth wheel. When I don’t need the A/C I can run everything on one. Also used one of them to power my house during the recent snow event when we were without power for several days. It was able to run heaters in the well house as well run everything in the house except heater but I used the wood burning stove for that. Great piece of equipment.
Jason I've shopping and bought some Harbor Freight tools so I've got experience with them myself. I'd suggest anyone buying from there. Take a coin in the store flip it before buying anything with moving parts . Heads , yes it's good, tails it won't last, then you knock on wood and hope for the best and expect the worst!
Great video and very informative. Thank you and enjoy the peace and quiet living away from this crazy world and all it’s nutcase people. I also live on a farm and just bought one of these Predator inverter generators .
This is exactly what I wanted, and the person and usages I was looking for. I need to augment my solar array and this is a cheap option. Until I can find a generator that starts up when battery bank voltage drops to low. Thanks for taking the time to post.
Great timing! I was just looking for a review on Harbor Freight's generator because you swear by it. We have a dual fuel 220 generator from Costco that's pretty loud, but it works well. It's on wheels so difficult to move around. The HF generator is lighter and we could move it around the property.
Thank you so much for such a great review Jason. Harbor Freight should compensate you with a new generator you've done such a great and honest review. God Bless you.
Great review Jason. It has stood up to the test. That is great. I am very thankful that you are honest about things. So many people out there these days aren't. Stay safe, warm and well. God Bless You.
Thank you for this review we have been looking into buying this for a couple months now. Btw your channel got a shout out from preppernurse1 in his live last night. You have a lot of fans over there too. Keep doing you Jason and it'll keep coming together.
I bought Nick one a few years ago and was iffy if it was going to be good as the Honda, it did not disappoint. It works just like you said Jason. It definitely does the job. ❤️👍❤️👍
Not too long ago you mentioned that you run this generator up to 14 hours some days. That got me to thinking about something. I was already guessing that you most likely weren’t using 100% of its power. You could buy a battery charger plus whatever you would need for your future solar system BUT just from the batteries on out. Then while having to use the generator anyway, you could be charging the batteries to use during other times & save some wear & tear on the generator. Even just a couple of batteries now would be useful I would think.
I have an generator. Wright off the bat it burned oil. Loud. Junk. So I've been shopping for a while. Thank you so much for sharing this one on performance and sound.
Why couldn't have done this review a few years ago when I was looking to buy a generator? I looked at the Predator, but I just couldn't pull the trigger on it because of the reputation of Harbor Freight stuff being junk, plus it had mixed reviews online. It's good to see that it can take some abuse and keep going. If I would have seen this review then, I would have got the Predator.
We have had one of these for a few years now. It has never let us down. We live at 5,200 foot altitude so it only puts out about 2,600 and can peak at 3,000 +/- but at high altitude that's true for any generator. I had to drill a few holes in the cover to help it breathe but again, that's not a fault with the generator, that's just an altitude thing. We have less than 500 hours on ours but need it to power medical equipment when the power goes out. It has been super reliable, I just wish it had a fuel shut off to keep fuel out of the carb when it doesn't get used for a while. For the cost I couldn't recommend these more.
Excellent review just a straight up review that lets me know that this generator is all I hoped it would be. I saw a more professional video on this generator but your video was very helpful. Thanks for posting and especially going into detail of your own experience with it. Excellent review!
Definitely worth the money. I love harbor freight. I'm also cheap... but they do have some nice stuff there. That thing is way quieter then I thought it would be.
Scene that generator and have been watching your channel since possibly late Feb beginning of March 2020. I have a Briggs and Stratton generator and its LOUD. Honda is nice but for $2000 it should be. Predator seems to be decent and definitely quieter than my Briggs. Thanks for this review 👍 - Enjoyed it
Have to go old school here.... Maintenance my man.... Oil and a spark plug, less than $10.... It'll run great for years if maintained properly. Wow I think I sound like my dad. Great vid....
That was a gr8t review. With all the tiny houses you could open a Airbnb charge so much < not sure how you do meals > other than a continental breakie of bagel, muffin , fruit & coffee , tea and such. Stay safe & take care of you all. Thanks for sharing eh :))
I've been looking at & wondering about this generator for 2 years now & just wasn't sure if it was any good. Watched a side-by-dide comparison last year, but you still just never know. Thanks for the recommendation.
Would be nice to add a remote start and you can have it plugged into whatever tiny house your sleeping in. You wake up hit the remote then have electricity for your morning coffee or whatever. Also Change that oil more. That thing will last forever as long as that engine doesn't give up the ghost.

I have been building a solar setup for my off-grid property, and have been frustrated with putting together enough storage for the inevitable 5+ days without sun...... Only thing I have had to do is tighten all my connections on the back of that panel. I have double the time on mine and it still runs strong doesn’t use any oil starts every time.

Jason i asked you what kind of generator you used and it's been a while but you told me about the 3500 predator you used from harbor freight ,the quiet one and I never even thought about it until now. I'll be getting a generator like this and I'll let you know what I think about it. Thanks for letting me know and now I'm trying to get the money to get me one. I know for a fact there's deer, bear, wild turkey ,grouse, and its a hunters paradise! (cant spell) I'm old school. but if I can and I'm not a quitter I'll find a way to get everything together. I'm pushing 60 very hard and you got a great you tube channel .I would love to see what you have done on the tiny home. Please let us know or you can directly chat at me anytime....................Dave
My grandfather has the "powerhorse" version from northern tool. Same generator though. he has gone through 2 of them in the last 2 years. That sounds bad but each one made it to over 9000hours and had a total of 4 oil changes 😅 really cant beat these little inverters for the price

I’ve been on the fence about getting one and didn’t think harbor freight would have a decent one! I appreciate it!!
Yeah man I'm very blown away with it! I'll buy another one (if) this ever craps out. I used and abused this sucker and never missed a beat

Wow 3500 a month in gas. My power bill is only 125.00 a month. I think your better off throwing that thing away and paying the electric bills
