hi great video as always i was going to go for gold one but now i see how you've worked it out an everything i get from weta ups always charges me aswell think i'll leave it now as alot of money to pay out. as for cave troll i placed my order on 9th april an when i contacted weta few weeks ago see whats happening they told me it'll be shipped out nov/dec 😕
Hey Jase, great video as always but a couple of things I wanted to point out here. I won't be going for one of these but when it comes to the calculations remember that regardless of what you go for the taxes will be added onto the end, so if you were to add everything separately then the tax will still be an additional 20%. This means that the tax you pay on individual items or the mystery box cancel each other out savingswise. When it arrives in the UK, you will only be charged the import fee if the value is over £135, so you would in fact not be losing money on the bronze box, but likely would be on the silver because you would pay tax on £135 on arrival due to shipping costs pushing it over the threshold. This would be the same on the gold box. I also don't think there is as much variation in the value of each box as it might seem. They do list the minimum you will receive in terms of products, so you're guaranteed to be getting the value of a hobbit hole, a figure of fandom, a miniature statue and a mini epic in the gold box, which when not on sale comes to at least $340 with the gold box, even with the cheapest of those options. So perhaps these aren't quite as much of a bad deal as it may initially seem. That said, because they only ship from NZ, the shipping is effing insane and as a result I don't see them selling many internationally, and certainly not to me.
@@mr.internetuser8859 ahh okay mate, thank you for the clarification on those points (I was aware of the tax implications, but Weta are using the pre-tax price for their gross potential profit - so, kind of adds up in the end?…) Yes, were they to ship these from their international hubs, I think they’d see more interest in these?… Cheers again matey 👍🏻
Really interesting video man, thanks for making it. So I checked and getting a Gold box shipped to me cost $135.82 for a grand total of $285.81. I then checked and added all those items individually (literally the same items in the picture) and to buy them separate the shipping was $84.43 for a grand total of $478.38 (granted some of the items would ship from the US, so if all from NZ likely more). So total savings for me would be roughly $190.... granted there's probably zero chance I would get the items I choose and I would imagine they would put this bundle all in the same box. Not really sure where the "savings up to $310" comes from though as that does seem pretty far off. Speaking of shipping... I've been building these Grey Havens Light things and have recently starting looking into their shipping and was kind of surprised how much it costs to ship (20x20x16) box weighing roughly 25lbs... going to the UK is $130 (and thats the cheapest option I could find). It felt so outrageous I've decided to pay $50 out of my pocket just to reduce it. It was sort of an eye opening thing to me (though perhaps businesses can get a cheaper deal than an individual). Granted I still feel Weta shipping is high but it definitely has given me some perspective.
@@thecyberhobbit hey Ryan mate! Thank you for the comment and for also checking out ‘your end’!… Hmm, yeah… it’s a bit of mis-marketing I feel from Weta here? Make it look like a really good deal, but realistically, there’s really not much of one there?… Yeah mate, shipping is now insane and I just can’t imagine it’s now going to end? Companies have just gotten way too greedy now mate! Good to hear from you matey 👍🏻
Indeed mate - if the shipping fee was removed, I’d certainly have a punt on a Gold Box, & maybe even a Silver?… But, for the small amount of potential ‘profit’, plus you’re probably not getting much you’d actually want?.. Nah!… thank you, but… nah! 👍🏻
These boxes are quite confusing , that’s true. I’d rather get a mini Mumakil announcement since I believe it’s the only major creature to be done in a mini line Hopefully there’s still something new from Weta to be released this year I’m also hoping for a mini Cave Troll unboxing soon 👀 Cheers
Amusing video. Weta ia simplely overproducing shit. they overestimate there customers and fanbase. We do not have to talk about there high end stuff. But sometimes I thought to myself they think everything they produce will be bought like the high end stuff. Online shops are full with the small stuff. The figures of fandom, the most part of their mini epics do not sell. Why they do not go for more limited stuff? I mean who do they aim for with most of the stuff?
Hey matey… I like the idea of a lucky dip/mystery box, would make for an interesting video or Xmas pressie for someone?… but with such a tiny amount of only ‘potential’ profit… nah mate, no real interest from me I’m afraid… Cheers matey 👍🏻

Hello great video information yes shipping is a killer now days Jason
@@MOONOVERMIAMI cheers my mate 👍🏻
Same thing with people who ship snakes if you buy a 100 dollar snake and pay 200 dollars in shipping
@hauntofthecollector your welcome Jason
@ yeah mate it’s getting ridiculous now these insane shipping prices!…
NZD$4.54 for shipping in New Zealand. NZD$38.29 tax for a total of NZD$293.56 for the gold one.
Cheers mate, as I suspected would be the case, it’s a pretty decent deal if you happen to live in NZ?… thanks again mate 👍🏻
$90 shipping for a gold box from NZ to AU - which I think rounds about to be 45 quid
@@harryjones1692 $90 =69.42 GBP (didn’t realise the comment section actually does that calculation automatically!!?)… 👍🏻

i think shipping is killing the hobby as much as the overpriced statues. killer double whammy
