I noticed at 6:39 Peter admits that he likes ribbon tweeters the best, although AMTs are "very close." That's interesting because he has designed speakers for Quad with ribbon tweeters (Z and Revela series), and the Wharfedale Elysians are considerably more expensive than those. I assume the Elysians are superior in everything except treble response?
I have the Elysian 4 speakers and can tell you that they should incredible. I have them hooked up to my McIntosh MA12000 integrated amp and they are very detailed. And for a big speaker they really do disappear. The workmanship is flawless.
One little problem has occured here for me. Since Elysians uses some good quality, but Scan-Speak drivers too by Denmark, at least in the woofer section for sure, so I do not understand why are we talking here in the Aura range about an in-house development, if it is rather not it anymore. Anyway I do
Lovely loudspeakers but these are made in China. Some models are now made in the UK and this has increased my interest in the brand .
I was also apprehensive about some the Wharfedale line being made in China but I went ahead anyway and bought the China-made AURA 2 loudspeakers, set them up and man do they look great and sound absolutely amazing! The fit and finish is impeccable. These are big, heavy stand-mounted loudspeakers. They arrived well packaged too. Totally happy getting them.
