Yeah I am scared for that to happen when rail fanning on the NYC subway. I usually record where the conductor isn't present so I don't get into trouble, even if it's legal to record but I just don't want trouble so I just record the back train or just somewhere between the last 2 cars or front cars.
NYC TransitRailFan You shouldn’t worry. It was one piece of shit who was on the train but most conductors and operators don’t mind and are pretty friendly and professional and if the operator is having a good day they might give you a little horn show.
The reason they get so mad at people recording is because they use to have a super strict no recording policy, and when they got rid of it they basically didn’t tell anyone so the only ones who really know you now can are the new conductors, the people videoing, and people who look at the website. They think people still can’t and we’re trained to stop people from doing so, so they still try to stop it.
There's is no reason for some of these conductors to be so mean if I had that position I would want to be filmed and be the nicest conductor in train history. If you don't like your job give it to someone like me who would love it.
