0:23 Dave had only been doing comedy professionally for about 2 years (!) at this point, but he had his classic comic persona and attitude already worked out here. Good stuff!
A decade later on Late Night, Letterman's act had scaled up but was fundamentally the same, right down to the canned ham give-away to parting audience guests.
At the very same time (August 1977) Starland Vocal Band's show was airing on CBS prime time as a summer replacement (with Dave in the cast), A Year at the Top (co-starring Paul Shaffer) was airing on CBS prime time as a summer replacement show. Nothing from A Year at the Top (beyond a few promos) has surfaced, sadly.
I actually remember this stuff. I remember he always punched the other guy at the end of a routine. I had no idea that within about four years he would become one of my comedy heroes.
This is part of Dave’s career he’d like nothing better than to forget, but thanks to UA-cam it’s here for everyone to watch.

The Comedy Store documentary on Showtime brought me here. You could see where Dave was going here. Classic!!
The material is beyond stupid. But Letterman is Letterman.

2:49 the guy who blows up the hotel is called Earl Hofert, after Dave's grandfather on his mother's side.
We have all 6 episodes of the show in full on our channel .
Van Dyke brown and an orange suit jacket LOL
I can take or leave Dave. I'm just here for clips of Margot.
You can see Margot on our channel m.ua-cam.com/users/starlandandmore69, the TV shows in full
You've been stealing my videos and re-posting...
Who is the guy he would punch at the end of a bit?
18:19 "Since we will be switching to the metric system just any day now ... " Well, THAT didn't age well, did it?!
I save the chunks of toothpaste in my sink and use them as after dinner mints.
LOL
Sorry Barbara, I'm pretty sure John wouldn't have been able to cut the Harmonies.
Boy..... No wonder this show failed......
Did anyone actually think these segments were funny???
