Ever wondered how to make your fashion illustrations pop with vibrant colors? In this video, I'll show you how to layer and blend with art markers to achieve a cohesive and polished look.
Discover the fun of adding depth and dimension to your sketches with easy shading techniques. From subtle shadows to intricate details, these methods will bring your designs to life.
Before we start, sketch out a fashion illustration from the previous video or download the sketch below to practice. I recommend making photocopies on marker paper for the best results. If you’re using the free download, print it on marker paper. Regular paper works too, but marker paper allows for smoother blending.
For beginners, try shading with the same marker and layering to create different tones. Once you’re more comfortable, use different shades to increase contrast. Avoid drastic shade differences, as they can make your illustration look less professional.
When using a fine-tipped marker, allow it to dry completely to avoid smudging. Experiment with different colors for outlines depending on the look you want.
Embrace the creative process as you master marker rendering. Don’t be afraid to experiment with colors, shading, and techniques. The more you practice, the more confident you'll become in bringing your fashion visions to life.
