Thanks for another great video! Staying loose and accelerating into the ball is difficult for folks to learn. I have my students start in the open stance, use those quick adjustment steps and turn to closed stance w/ paddle back, then accelerate forward into the ball. I find many players don't stay down- they lift the hips ( to a stand) rather than rotate them forward to accelerate their swing. Loosened grip and staying relaxed are so important - the paddle will naturally lag a bit and allow for that whipping motion. Hoping to get to one of your clinics one day!
The student in this video was doing exactly that, even at the end - standing up too tall. I would think his momentum should be carrying his body forward not up.
Jordon, the amount of detail you give on your lessons is insanely helpful! Hands down best video I’ve seen to help my topspin two-handed back hand. Keep this type of video coming! Hope to take a n in-person lesson from you when I visit Arizona😁
observed your student closed his stance too much and had to fight to get the paddle across his body. Then, turning the right foot so the toe is pointed more toward the net will allow for an easier turn of the hips, generating more power. This was a perfectly time video. I've recently started using a two hander. Biggest benefit I have found was greater control hitting down the line on/from the left side of the court.
Good lesson. I didn't realize that we should step the front foot across in a diagonal in front of the back foot. What I'd like to see is tips on what grip to use. Also, I've love to see an entirely new video on using a two-handed backhand near the kitchen, especially for balls that are not right in front of you. I have trouble with those balls that come to my left shoulder and beyond (I'm RHanded) - I want to be able to be aggressive when the ball's high enough. And I watch so many players (under 5.0)on YT who are just terrible with one-handed backhands that are high enough for speed-ups; these players don't take advantage of the moment and don't go for topspin-y aggressive shots. Then I watch the pros, especially the women, and they're SO good at those whippy two-handed backhands at the kitchen. It applies to dinks too.
This was extremely helpful! I liked the breakdown of the footwork and hip rotation for power. Thank you for all your instructional videos! Do you offer the 2 Day Intensive Trainings for level 3.5 - 4.0 players?
Jordan, when I hit a two handed backhand it seems as if the dominant hand holding the paddle actually makes me lose power. It seems as if the dominant hand actually slows down the swing. Is this normal? I am trying hard to not let the dominant hand take over, so I don't think that is the cause. Thanking you in advance for your help on this.
I would really try to engage your core and hips as much as you can, and keep your grip pressure on your dominant hand at a 1 out of 10. Having loose hands/wrists is key for this shot to feel smooth.
His issue is his left foot. He’s losing power by not planting his back foot. His right is too parallel to the court. My front foot points towards my target. As always great instructional video.
agree 100% . The sequence in this linked vid transformed my stroke and mistake mentioned at 1:04 was the problem . ua-cam.com/video/NVOwSeIKjbo/v-deo.html
The back foot does not have to be planted as long as he loaded and pushed off the bf to start the transfer of power (ie, kinetic chain). What's important is he's leaning into the shot. If u point your front foot towards your target, you uncoil too early n the KC ends at your front hip instead of continuing through your hips to your upper body to your arms. Watch 2H BH of nearly any top tennis player n none point to the target. When time allows, they will swing the back foot forward so both feet are parallel. Adds power since the body further uncoils n easier recovery.
At the end of the follow through he should be “ listening to the paddle “ rather than “flipping pancakes”. This allows more wrist rotation and adds to the topspin.
this is no unrealistic. it seem it is good on paper like martial art slow motion. The fact is you wont ever in a confrt position to excuse all the shot. You have to adapte hit on run or hit ball in the worst position. Basic is suck. True stuffs are different.
Great video Jordan. I keep thinking the way to look at the two handed backhand is that its a left handed forehand (for a right hander) with the right hand to guide (the guiding hand isn’t needed for your actual forehand). You and others have emphasized the left hand movement with the right hand as a guide. For me anyway, I think this thought process is what has been holding me back on the two handed backhand. It’s a really foreign concept.
This is the best 2-hand lesson I have seen yet. Exceptional nuggets are contained within!
Thanks so much!

Great lesson! You can see the student's improvement in just 20 minutes. Amazing!
Thanks a lot!
thank you so much Jordan - I was so waiting for a video like this!!!! Great pointers in there!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Dang, Dawson and me used to play at GRP. Good to see him getting super serious with his game. Great video
Thanks!
I'm working on using the two handed backhand and really want to get more power, this video is a greet tool for me. Thanks.
👍🏻👍🏻
Another great presentation! Great topic & you really excel in breaking the steps down, with specificity to the individual!
We appreciate it!
Hi Jordan! Excellent lesson!!! :)
Glad you liked it! Thanks!
Love the new intro!
😎👍🏻
Awesome Jordan!!
Thanks!!
Amazing video! I just started working on this shot and super helpful 👍🏻
Thanks!!

Glad it was helpful! Yes, of course
Great video, thank you. I like this kind of content
Thanks!!
Currently working on the same thing. The takeaways I need to use were... step more across, swing low to high, and loosen up. Thanks for the lesson.
Keep it up!
Great video! Where did you get that ball holding tripod?
Link in the description of video. I have a discount !
Great video...Do you have a price list for your trainings?

Good stuff. Most net shots are due to not having his paddle head down more right before initial contact. Other than that... looks great.
Maybe, there are definitely a few other factors as well, we’ll look at that next time

There are a lot of intricacies of the backhand, we worked on what we could in the 20 minutes

Seems like he is standing up through the shot. Might be harder to get the timing with that much up and down motion.
Getting nice and low is very important
At the end of the follow through he should be “ listening to the paddle “ rather than “flipping pancakes”. This allows more wrist rotation and adds to the topspin.
Thanks for the comment!
❤
❤️❤️
Now.. if only the friggin rain would stop I could implement this feed….
and one hand
?
@@BrionesPickleball probably meant a one-handed backhand instead of a two-handed backhand
Loosen up
lol
"Lighting Fast"? … Lightning
lol
My bad
It was eye catching though!
Lol
Student must be a baseball player😬
😊

What does this even mean lol
Are you okay? This response didn't make any sense

Lighting 💡 Fast Power, lol
😊
His videos are always too long.
Lots of players like the long content. Thanks for the comment
If you don't have the concentration span maybe stick to tik tok.
doing a 1-hand BH feels so much more natural for me and can get whicked power even compared to my FH, but accuracy is terrible. Thanks for the vid
Thanks!!
