Ultimately it's up to the broadcaster. Sometimes it might be an independent artist, say someone who's competed on The Voice. But broadcasters usually prefer artists with label backing as they can help fund the participation and promote the song.
As an Asian, thanks for uploading this explaination video. Now, I would can explain to my classmates and my teachers also. Also, that narrator is too professional for this video.
Amazing video ❤ wish I sent a video too but I always struggle to express my thoughts with words, so I probably wouldn't know what to say even though Eurovision is a huge part of my life and I would be completely different person without it
Great video - nice and succinct but sufficiently detailed. I'm glad you chose Bucks Fizz as the UK winner to include and the others were well selected too - was it difficult to pick a sample?
Thanks! 💙 And yeah, it was hard to pick the songs. I originally had a shortlist of over 20, which I reduced to a dozen. 20 was too many for 2 reasons, it would have been too long and there would be a greater chance of copyright issues. I could have just used shorter clips like I do usually, but I figured that if people are hearing these songs for the first time, they'll want more than just 7s of a song.
Have more questions about the Eurovision Song Contest? Ask away...
When will France (and Spain) win again ?!?!
@@Olivier-GM soon i think
@@Olivier-GM France might be a favourite with the juries. It sure is a favourite to me! 😁
To submit a song do you need to be very known artist with a label or independent artist can submit their music as well?

So well edited! Thank you for all of the effort put into making the video :)
Great video, loved it! And thanks for the credit ;)
Wow man. Thanks for the mention. Look forward to the video

Make a video about Junior Eurovision as well
I'll see how this one performs and if it does well consider it for next JESC season.
I love Eurovision! Americans also say swearing fyi.
4:30 was SR the former name of SVT or was it another Swedish broadcaster that no longer participate in the contest?
I wondered that but apparently SVT is Sveriges Television and SR is Sveriges Radio.
