Bowser's Galaxy Generator is without a doubt one of the most epic themes in any video game. Great to see 3D Land's Castle theme and Mario 35's menu theme get some appreciation as well! Great video!

My favorite from SMB Wonder has to be Piranha Plants on Parade. My jaw dropped when those plants started singing. It's just so charming! This has the unfortunate side effect that in my opinion the wonder effects peaked very early on.
Glad some more underrepresented songs wrre picked for this list, as all of these are pretty great to listen to in-game. Shout out to some missed ones like:
-Underground for Mario Land 1 (Tho the brawl remix goes harder)
-SMB3 Airship themes and their remixes
-Comet Observatory 3 and Puzzle Plank is also pretty great
-Fossil Falls and New Donk City are my favorites from SMO
-And for SMM2, will say the Online Loading Screen is my favorite for its lofi vibe, but it still gives me memories of the slow online

favorite theme in SMO is cascade kingdom. even though it's much more peaceful and has less action, the way the pitch and volume of the music can change is one thing i like, and for me it's a bangin' banger.
What should have been included for 3d land was the final castle theme because that one is better than the other castle theme
Mario Maker’s ghost houses, airships, and castles have some AMAZING edit music, especially for the smb and smw castles, smw ghost house, and smw and sm3dw airships

i like your ranking, quite unique, with songs that i definitely didnt expect. it mostly includes castle/boss themes, and thats also why i was surprised you didn't choose the castle theme for nsmb ds (its my favorite castle theme from the whole mario series).
Here's my ranking for the games if anyone is interested:
SMB1: main theme (the most detailed theme, and i hum it from time to time)
SMB2: main theme (the most detailed one)
SMB3: Athletic (dynamic and catchy)
SMW: Athletic (same reason as smb3)
SML: Birabudo Kingdom and the beach theme (the one shown in the video), (catchy and pleasing to listen to)
SML2: Athletic (dynamic)
Yoshi Island: Athletic (catchy and dynamic)
SM64: Bowser's course (epic feel) and Ending theme (used to make me cry of joy, literally)
SMS: Delphino Plaza and the first level theme (i forgot the name), (catchy)
NSMB (DS): Castle (epic feel)
NSMB Wii: Athletic (catchy + nostalgia)
NSMB2: Star world theme (fascinating for some reason)
NSMBU: Overworld theme (among the ones composed specifically for this game)
SMG: Good Egg Galaxy (i feel some sort of nostalgia when hearing it, it just makes me feel good and want to play the game)
SM3DW: Main theme (that was the one i used to really like years ago so im choosing this one i guess)
SMM1: SMB1 Airship (epic feel) and Title Screen (nostalgia)
SMM2: Title Screen and SMB1 Snow (catchy)
SMO: Steam Gardens (forest) (very catchy and epic feel)
SMBWonder: Overworld theme ("Welcome to Flower Kingdom") (very catchy and i already feel nostalgia for it somehow)
i didnt include some of them either because of the lack of original themes, or because i didnt play the games enough

I love a lot of the songs from Odyssey, but I find the Torkdrift theme to be the most underrated.
My favourite odyssey song is the second half of bowsers kingdom
Probably Jump up Super star or cascade kingdom in Odyssey,
And almost every 1-1 could get honorable mentions.

Mario makers airship theme is great
But it’s remixed in Mario Wonders airship levels and HOOLLY CANOOLLII it’s a banger

The Snow theme in Wonder is MAGICAL. However, I will say the Castle Bowser Map song is a CLOSE 2nd. Also, I really love the Snow theme in SMB3. Idk what it is with Mario games making me love the Snow themes lmao

Great video, here's my (incredibly long) thoughts on each pick:
Super Mario Bros: I never got what people saw in the starman theme. It's so repetitive and just overall kinda bland, and the nes sound chip makes it worse.
Super Mario Bros. 2: You had the best choice. I honestly don't know what else you can pick, especially since there's so little songs in the game.
Super Mario Land: Can't blame your choice. Not my personal pick, but damn it's just such a cheery song. It's hard not to get in a good mood when hearing that song. Personally though, I feel like it doesn't have as much to offer as some of the other songs.
Super Mario Bros 3: Once again, I can't blame you. It's just such a catchy and funky song that is very weird but works so well. I don't have much to say, as it's definetly in the top songs and I usually interchange it with a few other songs.
Super Mario World: Once again, I can't blame you for your choice. My personal favorite is staff roll, as it just has a somewhat grand feel to it that athletic can't match, and is extremely fitting for an ending. But nonetheless, athletic is definetly up there.
Super Mario Land 2: While I don't think the soundtrack is trash, I do agree that it is a very bland soundtrack and definetly the worst of the Mario soundtracks. My problem with it is that most songs are so forgetable and some songs that do have great potential with their melody either ruin it with a bad sounding part or just loop before it gets good. Nonetheless, I think everyone agrees that Athletic is the best song in the game.
Wario Land: Never listened to the soundtrack, so no comment.
Yoshi's Island: The Big Boss theme hits different, like it's insane. I think overall Yoshi's Island has an absolute banger soundtrack, but I personally feel like the final boss thing is a lot better with it's hard rock. Probably just a style thing too. Me personally though, my favorites are the ending theme for how emotional and grand it is and the athletic theme because it's just so good.
Super Mario 64: This is kind of unfortunate, but the first instance I heard Koopa's Road was through the GaMetal Remix, which is just a lot more intense than the 64 version. Therefore when I first heard the 64 version in-game, I was pretty underwhelmed. However, I've grown with the song, and I appreciate it's more quite feel rather than it being in your face like future versions of the song, almost giving off a creeping tension as you get closer to Bowser.
Super Mario Sunshine: Now I must admit that from here on out, I haven't listened to any of the soundtracks in full, so take my statements more lightly. However, I have listened enough to at least have a comment about it. Ricco Harbor is so funky in the absolute best way. It's just such a jam, and I'm completely fine with your choice. I would also like to give an honorable meantion to Secret Course, as it's also such a jam.
New Super Mario Bros: I have never heard the minigame menu song before, so I have no comment on that. However, from what I have heard from the soundtrack, I will say that the Castle theme is something else. It's just absolutely crazy, and hearing it just makes me wish we got a future remix of it so that I can hear what a full orchestra rendition would sound like.
Super Mario Galaxy: Oh my goodness what a hard choice. Easily one of if not the best video game soundtracks of all time along with Galaxy 2. Buoy Base is an awesome choice nonetheless, and is definetly in my top 10 galaxy 1 songs, for the reasons you described.
New Super Mario Bros Wii: The Final Boss thing is so good man. It's just insane. However, whenever I listen to it, I can't help but feel like something is missing from the song, and I really can't tell why. I think I just need to listen to it more lol.
Super Mario Galaxy 2: the lesser ost of Galaxy 1, and this is coming from someone who has a tone of nostalgia with this game. It's the first game I've ever played on a console, and despite being little, the ost still stuck with me to this day. It's actually what got me into video game music when I remembered the ost many years later. As for your choice, I don't have much to say. Galaxy Generator is a great choice, but I feel like there is a better choice in the soundtrack, but I can't tell what. (Also Sky Garden totally sound like a galaxy that's in the game)
Super Mario 3D Land: Not the best Mario Soundtrack. It's worth a listen, but the soundtrack is kinda meh. But yeah, I would say the castle theme is probably the best. Kinda like DS Castle theme, it feels like the song is striving for something greater but can't reach it. However, unlike the DS, this song got a remake which is just better in absolutely every way. It's just such a great piece, and unfortunately even the best song in this game is kinda made redundant because of a far better version that is probably in the top 10 favorite of that game too.
New Super Mario Bros 2: Least original Mario soundtrack. However, that doesn't mean it's bad, as I feel like some of the songs that remix previous songs from the Wii variant are better, like the title screen and staff roll. So I understand why you didn't want to pick a remixed song, for the the sake of variety but I don't think star is the best song in the game. It's good though.
New Super Mario Bros U: The 2nd least original mario soundtrack. However, unlike it's 3DS counterpart, there are no remixes, meaning all the old songs are exactly the same but there are also many completely new songs. Kinda hypocritical for me to say this after what I just said in the previous entry, but I would've preferred listing a new song, as unlike the previous entry the songs are exactly the same as they used to be. Nonetheless, I will say that the overworld theme is probably the best song in the game, but like I said before I haven't listened to this full soundtrack, so there's probably a better choice in here. (Don't wanna be that guy, but the Volcano theme you talked about came from NSBWii, as DS had a different volcano theme)
Super Mario 3D World: the 3rd best Mario soundtrack which nearly reaches the heights of the galaxy games. Battle on the tower is probably the most forgotten song in the game, which is kinda a crime. In fact, despite being a big fan of the game's soundtrack, I had never even heard of the song until I recently watched a video similar to this that showcased it. And man, I will say what a song that it is. I would've bundled both themes and the song that plays after together just to make it more complete, as once you do that it is just an adventure and epic battle that goes through so many stages of music. It all blends together so well, and may be the best song in the game.
Super Mario Maker: Unfortunately, Super Mario Maker 2 has basically made this entire soundtrack redundant, but it's still good. In my opinion, SMB1 Airship has probably the best melody out of all the level themes in the game, but I don't really like the NES SMB1 sound, so that gives it points off. Nonetheless, I don't think there's anything the developers should've changed in the song, as the NES style fits well, but I'm just not a big fan of it. However, it would set the template for basically what the future airship themes are gonna be from now on, and I must say that I'm pretty ok with that. The SMB3 Airship is really good, but honestly I feel like it reached it's peak already and we need a new airship theme now.
Super Mario Run: I've also never really listened to the soundtrack at all, besides the Remix 10 theme. However, that's probably for the better as most of it is just more remixes of the NSMB songs, which I'm pretty sure we don't need more of. Remix 10 is an absolute banger though, and probably the only song actually worth listening in the game.
Super Mario Odyssey: Easily the biggest Mario soundtrack. It's insane how much the songs have to offer, and there were some songs that sounded like they literally belonged in a blockbuster film, which I didn't feel even with the Galaxy games. The soundtrack is insane, but I haven't listened to nearly enough of it to give a comment on your pick. But I'm sure it's good.
Super Mario Maker 2: Basically this soundtrack serves as a replacement for SMM1's soundtrack. Almost every song is here, with some added ones too. Honestly, I once again have no idea what my top pick would be, as there's just so much in this soundtrack and I haven't listened to nearly enough of it. However, I will say that the peaceful SFX song is one of the most relaxing songs I've heard, but I don't know if it's original to this game or not.
Super Mario Bros 35: never played the game or listened to the song, so I can't say.
Super Mario Bros Wonder: the newest mario game, and so far I've only completed one world of the game. I haven't listened to much of the soundtrack to avoid spoilers, but I will say that I applaud the composers for trying a very new style for the music. Instead of aiming for catchiness, they decided to make the soundtrack more dynamic and unique based around what's happening in game. However, that does come at the cost of memorability. Objectively, this game has a better soundtrack than any of the NSMB games, but imo it might be worse. Once again, I haven't listened to much of the soundtrack, but judging by what I have heard, I would say the airship theme easily takes the top spot for. It's such a banger, and a remix of the the SMB1 Airship, which will probably become the new default airship theme.
If you read all of that, I applaud you for your effort. Nonetheless, I really appreciate this video, and your music ranking videos are probably my favorite.

Fair enough, everyone has their own opinion. And while I may agree on some more, Koopa's Road in 64 and Ricco Harbor in Sunshine definitely for me. While I enjoy much of Sunshine's music, Ricco Harbor does stand on top for me. And Koopa's Road is such a fun yet mildly dark theme to enjoy on your path directly to Bowser. Not sure on my favourites through the whole series, but wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if those are at least in my top 10, possibly top 3 for Koopa's Road. Shoutout to Ricco Harbor though sneaking it's way into the Smash Ultimate soundtrack.
