Hi Jay. I think you have hit on something profound and much needed in our UA-cam community. And that’s authenticity. I’ve been lucky enough to holiday in Italy twice this year, in Venice back in March, and southern Italy just last month. It struck me the number of people who were busying themselves over taking videos, selfies, and photos. My wife and I watched a young couple, positioned opposite the famous church in Tropea, spend over 30 minutes with a phone on a tripod taking numerous photos and videos. They depicted this fabulous loving couple in this fantastic location, but as soon as the video or photo was taken, they would change completely as the girl ran back to the phone to check the pictures and set up the next shot/video. No doubt this would later be uploaded to TikTok or Instagram portraying this amazing life they were having, unknown to all that were seeing it that it was all set up and completely fake. It’s a sad, sad world we live in, but we should strive to make content that is genuine and realistic, taken in the moment, and unedited to give the viewer an authentic experience of what and who they are watching.
Good morning! Thank you for this comment, I really love and appreciate the conversation we have on here. It can be sad, although I have had the thought that perhaps that is enjoyment for some? On the flip side of the screen we do get a very different perspective of the real experience - that which is running back and fourth trying to gain the 'perfect' take or shot over taking in that which is right in front of you. I guess in a way it is all performative, like that of a film, but watching it, it often comes across as reality - the perfect moment, a next level trip, comparison can creep in and it all seems unattainable. A friend of mine that came out a few weeks after me had a bit of a turbulent time in comparing his trip to that of mine. I hope to continue stripping back the layers, although time is running a little thin at the moment! Thank you as always mate.
Yeah... I kinda set myself up for the rain. Jumped on thinking it might be my last chance (time wise and warmth wise) to do a good ride out this year. Now it's back up to 17/18 degrees and sun next week! So who knows, maybe Ill jump on the inty for a small trip
If I had the time and money man - I’ve spent much of it this year doing Europe… on a bike… on repairs… on this vlog. That’s the reality of it, it’s the most beautiful thing in the world is being out on the bike, somewhere totally unknown to me, yet it doesn’t always come cheap eh. I think a few local rides are in order to clear the mind

Local rides are perfect as long as you ride, it doesn't matter where and it doesn't matter if you vlog them, you have to do it for yourself first and foremost. Don't talk to me about money, this year I have been (still am!) absolutely broke, sigh. Prices are rising everywhere for everything, I relate to what you're saying very much unfortunately. What I meant is that the important thing Is to have your ass on a saddle and ride some more before winter comes!
