who the heck decided to place minimum 1hr meters?? It's a no brainer that it will hurt local small businesses. I won't pay an hour to run into a store for 15mins and like one of the business owner stated 'it's not worth taking a risk of getting a $70 ticket' so folks will not go into the stores/shops. Fix it ASAP to incremental meters. I started carrying paper bags because half of time I am losing quarters because the METER (s) are broken in the city and I don't have time to look for alternate parking.
Why are there meters in the first place? Downtown San Bruno hardly has any real foot traffic with maybe 5-6 places with a good number of customers including Artichoke Joe’s. Myself and probably a good number of people hate dealing with metered parking and raises the question why they’re being installed. I haven’t seen the city of San Bruno make any real investments to draw people in. A lot of downtown San Bruno really looks like the place time forgot. And I LIVE IN SAN BRUNO!!!! There’s a huge difference between Bayhill shopping center and the Lucky’s/Lowes shopping center compared to the Tanforan mall and downtown San Bruno in that the later 2 are horribly mismanaged forcing the mall the shutter in less 10 years after getting a remodel less than 20 years ago and downtown continually looking run down.
I feel you, I no longer live in San Bruno but occasionally would stop at Roma's for a sandwich, which is under the umpteenth new owner, ... largely because I hate the line at Little Lucca's, and yeah charging for parking for such a low density area is just asinine. I could almost see maybe they're doing it because the parking lots behind the places may be used by local residents to park, but not on San Mateo avenue, and definitely not on El Camino. Throw up 24minute parking signs or something if you're that worried about cars parking for too long without leaving, this is just a pathetic money grab, and how much of a percentage is company that installs this getting that only has to handle transactions? Considering the cost of patrolling, I bet this ends up costing San Bruno money, and those businesses will probably end up going under.
There was nothing wrong with old-fashioned meters and meter maids. But these parking gizmos pit government v. business owners in the duel for consumer dollars and that's really unfair to the people and the shops. Not very kind of San Bruno, if kindness still counts for anything.
Yup meters provide a very easy and fast way for someone on a meter trike to drive down the street and effectively patrol many spots all at the same time to see if they have been paid. Now they have people walking down the streets comparing license plates with a database of those who have paid.
they took most of the parking away in Boston to create bus and bike lanes, it makes just stopping in for a few minutes to get a sandwich or coffee impossible. all the business on Massachusetts Ave in Boston went out of business.
As somebody from both SB and SSF (Lomita Park) this is just stupid. Poor folk will have to park on Cupid and haul up. The area gets unusually busy despite constantly changing businesses. They do these activities for unneeded improvements. Mark the tires for an hour and leave the people alone.. Too many gizmo types of things for people to use. They will just not come down from Bay Hill or get over from Targetforan side to get 50$ citation. Mothers and kids will get gotten the most along with cannabis characters trying to feed they selves.😢😮
These guys Tom Hamilton and Marty Medina have such educated back grounds yet have no common sense. People have to plead with these guys for them to make sense out of what shouldn’t have to be explained. Our incompetent society is getting harder fathom.
All paid parking is illegal double jeopardy people paid state and federal income tax that goes into road infrastructure. Now force people to pay for parking on public is triple tax triple jeopardy.
Isn't time left over from the previous car if you need just 10 minutes to do something?
No, because you aren't paying for the space, you're paying based on your license.

San Bruno needs to pick up the pace

You get what you voted for. Keep voting blue. Zero sympathy. ZERO!!
they don't pay for parking in republitard cities?
Ahh yes let them charge for parking as if you don’t already pay enough to drive and park anywhere on the public road
highway robbery

At least have a 30 min option
They will eventually try to ban cars everywhere
Which company got the contract? How did they get it?
Newsom collaborators planned this. Vote for more democrats so they can waste your tax dollars and then ask for more!
Looks like Artichoke Joes parking lot is gonna be a lot more active.
Another great accomplishment in a blue-run city.
Too late damage is done
Good luck!
