What an excellent programme. Thank you so much. Dealt with perfectly. Even though I live in England, I remember this happening and how it made me feel.
I remember this very clearly. Our family was very tight then and my great aunt was suppose to be at that dance. She had a fight with her BF and didn’t go. I remember my mom on the phone frantic with every family member trying to find out if she was dead or alive. Turned out she had gone home and went to bed and was no answering the phone because she thought it was the boy friend. I will never forget all the panic in our family. The boyfriend was hurt in the collapse and ended up getting a huge settle Ment. He refused the class action and ended up getting millions
“Smelling death”.. That is chilling. I’ve smelled a large amount of blood once, when someone slipped and fell off a stool where I work. They gashed their forehead wide open- leaving a large puddle of blood. The smell was stomach turning and overwhelming. I can’t imagine what an area with a mass casualty would smell like- I’m sure it lingered in the air and that has to be traumatizing for the people who witnessed it.
I was so tied up in graduating high school and joining the army I do not remember this happening. Thank you very much for this program. Such a loss and tragedy. God rest their souls. 🙏
I remember that night. Even though I was only sixteen, my friend and I were in the habit of doing things beyond our years. She wanted to go down to The Hyatt for that tea dance. I was getting sick of pretending I was old before my time, so I stayed home. My friend ended up not going, either. They cancelled Friday Fright Night programming. It was very shocking. My dad was an excellent personal injury/med mal attorney, but avoided this tragedy. It really was just too much. 😢
This was a very powerful watch and deserves to be remembered.

Also others smelt flesh the masonry dust the walk impacted the bar spilling alcohol and cooking oil it got
The same smell occurs in the wake of a major tornado.
