best case, buy the p65b40 and route the exhaust the same way. itll likely sound close to it. its a shame that they are so protective over the p60b40, youd think that theyd be protective over their formula 1 v10/v8 cars but nope, anyone can buy those. so i wonder why is this engine so special.
@@TheRacingJoker its a miracle and a curse because its something we cant have. its such a unique sounding flatplane, it has alot of crossplane sounds in the low revs yet screams up top.
The M3 GTR also participated in the ELMS series in 2001, too where it raced at donington, jarama and others that were on the calendar that year. The same schnitzer motorsport GTR competed in the Spa 24 hours in 2004-05. As for the S62B50 M3, that car competed in the Grand-Am series from 2001-2002. The M3 GT (Not GTR btw), also competed in the JGTC series in 2002-03 in the GT300 category. The teams running them were Hitotsuyama Racing, and Amprex Motorsports. Neither car finished because the S52 Inline-6 didn't hold up against the rest of the field. As much as I like the M3 GTR (not my favorite car, but I still love it though). I'm gonna have to side with porsche on this one. Which is ironic because they did the same thing 1994 with the dauer 962, which is a Group C car that competed in the GT1 class, that led to Lotus, Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes, Toyota, Nissan, Lister, Jaguar and TVR to build full blown prototypes which killed the GT1 class.
9:42 you could definitely build one. way easier to do than building the race car. faceavto’s front bumper, rear bumper, slightly modified to the aesthetic of the street GTR, stock wheels, and a custom hood and wing. very very doable. oh and an S62B50 swap. new bucket seats. done.
@@TheRacingJoker remap a whole ecu, new cams, new stroker kit, timing chains, better engine oil management and the exhaust also most importantly ITBs. Lang Racing can re engineer the S65 to become flat plane, but that means new valves, new camshafts, a new crank obviously, basically new everything. very expensive process
I divide M3 GTRs by their body kits that majorly represented in each game franchises: -NFS. the *GOAT* -Gran Turismo (and R Racing Evo). the aero-friendly front bumper -Forza. the weird rear fender

2M and Scottsdale are my top choices. Scottsdale especially can get you a genuine PTG exterior and I have been qouted for a genuine factory GTR carbon exterior package too. Way too expensive though
the closest to V1 we will get is being made by faceavto in Russia, they’re making a second version and it looks BANG on. heavily considering it for my build, looks way better than 2M so far.
Awesome to learn about new things of the e46 like the side exhausts not being from BMW, the blue/silver PTG cars and the World Challenge cars. I've seen pictures of those 2 cars before, but couldnt really figure out where they were from. The hood vents, from what I've read, are not to feed the engine air. It is to release the air that has gone through the radiator out of the hood, as to not have it went onto the engine. I believe the NACA duct on the roofs were only ever on the PTG cars. At least I dont I've never seen a picture of another team's car with them. I can never figure out the PTG e46 GTR's with the black tops. I used to think the black top once were from 2000 and the blue top cars with stars were the 2001 cars. But there seems to be some crossover with the black topped ones being from both 2000 and 2001. Maybe black and blue with stripes differentiate at PTG if its an I6 or V8 engined car? 🤔
It starts to get messy as the race chassis get circulated and reused for different racing disciplines. PTG parts get put on Schnitzer cars and vice versa. It didn't help that BMW didn't want people to know how different/similar the team cars were. That and PTG was pretty competitive and would modify the GTRs like crazy to see what they could get away with.
M3 GTR instant like as usual (i´m doing my part lol), hope you´re well Tom your truck accident was a heavy hit, waiting more car videos at this point any mods on cars are illegal.
so should we buy m3 e46 for basicly and seeing the s54 engine? or can we contact person from ptg racing to make a racing car customer? and put m3 gtr 2001 bodykit
@@TheRacingJoker if it's not that big of a difference I don't think it's a problem, making a car from PTG Racing and just looking for the right fitment to replicate a 2001 BMW M3 GTR and coloring it like need for speed most wanted
Really informative video i learned alot. Though you might of added the Johannes Scheid Eifelblitz M3, it was called the GTS. It's the only E46 GTR body i know of where the exhaust are still at the rear like the road car. There is an interview with Johannes Scheid, but it's in German, which i cant understand. But there are plenty of onboards videos of the Eifelblitz M3 GTS.
Nice video! You know what bothers me? There are those pictures of a M3 GTR Street somewhere in a car dealer showroom in Saudi Arabia in 2002 or something with a "Sold" sign on it. It makes me believe that some lucky dude down there has one of those in their garage collecting dust. Have you ever heard about one of the street versions actually being sold to a private owner?
In a game called NFS Shift 2 unleashed there is a option of works converting your E46 M3 into a sleeker version of the M3 GT but the thing is that it had single dual pipes on each side of the car and it has rear diffuser but still looks cool along with the others but pumps put 600bhp with a top speed of 199mph with an upgraded engine of the straight 6 engine strapped with a single turbo in it!!!
i remember the legit bmw m8 gte are sold, i wonder where's the remaining alms m3 gtr after they beat porche is there any chances one of them sold? like the m8? another personal question i wonder if the e92 gtr/gt2 official race cars are sold too after retirement like the m8?
You can buy a GT/GTR/VLN chassis, it just won’t have the original engine. I know a couple people with a GT and a GTR chassis. They put a P54 stroker and an S65 stroker in them respectively
I wonder if they have the actual Track M3 gtr for sell Not that i have the money its just Im curious😊 Because this monster is a perfect Balance of power Its not a bugatti power Neither its a normal bmw Its a power for a true car enthusiast to enjoy

Historical significance, could be sentimental. All I can say is that it’s a miracle chassis 006 has a restored P60B40 running in it.
