NEW Blackmagic SRT Streaming Update | Blackmagic Design at IBC2023

- Blackmagic has announced SRT streaming support for the Web Presenter HD, Web Presenter 4K and ATEM Streaming Bridge. SRT is a low latency and extremely reliable streaming protocol, so having it come to these Blackmagic devices is a big win for broadcasters and streamers!

I really want to do a future video talking all about SRT, so if you have any questions you'd like answered about it, please put them below!
It would be great to see a live demo of SRT via the web presenter to see if the caching issue still exists. Too often when streaming to UA-cam, the cache builds up and the device doesn't respond properly.
Re: blackmagic products I hope they add SRT to their remote camera connectivity - back to either Atem TVS or (in a dream world) Atem mini pro) or to streaming bridge, or third party SRT compatible device. We briefly tried the streaming bridge and it just wasn't reliable enough - sometimes it was perfect, and sometimes the audio/video would go way out of sync - not by a few frames but by 30+seconds over the course of a few minutes.
for SRT remote connections in general, ideas for how to get program out and audio mix/minus back to remote connections. The "simplest" i've seen today is using Skype/Zoom/vmix call for remote participants for the full bi-directional - but I would love to have a solution-in-a-box (remote camera/small monitor/lav/IEM) kit that could be shipped to remote locations and be somewhat plug and play for non-technical remote users and not be reliant on zoom and/or poor quality webcams, laptop mics, etc...
Did you ask them in person what's going on with the web presenter? If they're going to fix the firmware cash filling up issue freaking out over lost packets and just filling up cash and not reconnecting even though the internet connection is perfect ?
If I receive 2 SRT feeds from two cameras located on the same area (ie stadium) with the idea to do the production and switching remotely, how can I sync the feeds?

What latency settings are usually recommended for SRT streaming? Apparently you can customize the latency depending on you prioritizing stability of the stream / recovering data versus low latency for live interviews remotely.
And can you access the settings in the Web Presenter software?
Great to see SRT recently added to the Ursa Broadcast G2. I just wish BM didn't use this cack-handed XML code to program the SRT destination info.
Can you get an SRT feed from vmix to the steaming bridge?
I hope this will be added to the Atem Mini`s. @Blackmagic Design kindly add the support

hi Greeting from Maldives, this may be not something related to you but since you are good in explaining different subjects on streaming I thought I will ask you. when I use D7000 camera live view for streaming there is a black colour margin from right and left side of the screen, how to correct this?
How do you actually activate SRT on UA-cam though? I only have RTMP and HLS

Hello Alex, I'm curious: how significant are the bandwidth savings of SRT over RTMP. We have a venue that offes only 8 Mbit upstream and we don't dare to stream live from there. If SRT would cut cut that in half that would be a game changer. Regards JAN

How come you didn’t even ask if and why they haven’t added this to ATEM Mini Extreme switchers too?
I did ask off camera, the response was that they want to concentrate on it first in these products and see how it performs, then look to role out in future products.

I actually don’t yet. I believe it requires having a UA-cam partner manager and having them request you into the beta /trial. Will update if I hear anymore about it though :)

Is Blackmagic’s SRT implementation the truly open or is it link how they restricted RTMP in their products only to their ecosystem?
I’m hoping that since they support SRT to UA-cam that the web presenter accepts regular SRT streams and can send to any encoder (hardware, vmjx, obs, cloud restreamer, etc).
Its srt ... you can send to any srt capable server ... just testing atm

Web presenter gets H265. They are late to the party but finally it’s here.
The way those green swirling led not syncing up bothers me... dunno why.
