Dance talent show where dancers of any age and dance style compete to win £50,000 and a chance to perform on Strictly Come Dancing. Leading the charge to discover the greatest dancer are three superstar dance captains - platinum-selling singer Cheryl, Broadway and Glee star Matthew Morrison and Strictly Come Dancing professional Oti Mabuse.
The series is hosted by singer and presenter Alesha Dixon and Jordan Banjo, member of multi-award-winning dance troupe Diversity.
The audience hold the power - if they are impressed by the audition, they can vote to open the mirror, and if 75 per cent of the audience vote yes then the mirror will open and the dancer will make it through to the next stage of the competition, the callbacks. Get ready to see talent from across the world of dance, from ballet to jazz, street to ballroom, contemporary to disco as the dancers give the performances of their lives in the hope of opening the mirror.

As a classically trained ballerina, I have to say that that was freaking incredible. It breaks my heart that people just don’t understand how damn hard that routine was and how much technique that routine required. I don’t understand how people can sit and judge dancing when they clearly have NO CLUE about dancing. I understand that’s the whole point of the show but I am just speechless that they let such talent walk away.

What an audience! That was a big, Big, *BIG* mistake on their part. They have no idea of the blood, sweat and tears that go into making a dancer of that caliber. Even if classical ballet was not their cup of tea, had they given him a chance, I think one of the judges would help choreograph a more contemporary ballet piece that would suit the taste of even the least sophisticated of them.

I don't call that as sophistication. Even though ballet is now called as old school, it should have been added at historical books or a certain topic added for dance's warm-ups witj classical & instrumental music. People nowadays do not know how to compromise, comprehend or be compatible with relaxation. That's different from being sleepy. Sigh...

I never usually comment on any videos but as a dancer myself I am extremely disappointed that he didn’t get through. He has incredible technique, especially when executing difficult steps. It honestly upsets me that this type of dancing doesn’t excite the general public. I’ve grown up watching ballet and I get a real enjoyment out of it. I feel as though my generation cannot appreciate the complexity and difficulty of ballet, as they see it as ‘boring’. One day I hope that a tv programme, screened to a wide audience, is able to show the public and my generation ballet in a new light, so they can see the true beauty of it. Or at the very least, in these ‘competition’ shows, I hope to see a talented ballet dancer reach the final or even win. On a final note, I believe that if we don’t inspire the general public to perhaps go watch a ballet, that in the future it may become a dying art. I do not wish to see this happen. Too much hard work goes into this craft for there to be no recognition. For everyone who is a ‘non-dancer’, I hope you read this comment and just maybe begin to see the amount of talent this guy has.

I agree, I've been learning ballet since I was 3 and it just drives me crazy that people don't appreciate and love the art form as much as I do. I don't think the general public know exactly how hard ballet is, it is extremely difficult to even do one flawless pirouette, and all those a la secondes are amazing. It is just sad that they call this show "the greatest dancer" when they are not even looking for the greatest dancer, but rather "the greatest entertainer"...

I showed my kids the "Leap", " Swan Lake" & "Nutcracker" because we could not afford tickets to buy at first class theaters. My wife do stretches & showing our kids how since she had Figure Skating & basic ballet + pilates stretches before she succumbed to psoriatic arthritis. Even though we do not do ballet but still, we still need to let the world know about ballet. It's not just a dance or an art, but a historical movement to still exist.

For ex in China during the Singer competition they carefully select 500 people (5%) from 10 000 to be the judge on only 1 episode. The process repeat again every episode with another 10 000 people. They are doing that so they can keep only people that know different genre, style, and are not just random with their selection.

So it is about finding the best dancer, with the best moves and technique but the audience doesn’t see that because all they want is a flashy performance. Classical dance is still art but some people aren’t cultured enough to see that side of dance. But what’s done is done and the audience is clearly close-minded with art.

I’d like to say the lady who said it wasn’t exciting enough clearly has no mind to be judging dance. It’s ballet and his technique was beautiful. I’d like to see the audience members attempt even one of the moves in his performance because as someone who has danced for 17 years I know I wouldn’t be able to recreate that routine as elegantly as he did. Thankfully talent hardly goes unnoticed and I’m sure he will be getting lots of recognition soon. Goodluck ❤️

Omg he is amazing so talented and everything was clean and just so good! What the heck people don’t understand how freaking hard ballet is! I’ve danced ballet when I was younger it’s quite hard and pretty physical demanding as well. It takes a lot of practice, technique, and dedication! So sad hope they bring him back or he gets an amazing opportunity!

..... No words.. this is one of the dumbest show ever created.. giving audience all the power? most of them wouldnt know the difference between pirouettes and just spinning around to get dizzy

What a breathtaking performance! To have been in the room watching would have been electric for me. I'm showing this to my son who is taking ballet, jazz, hiphop and ballroom. Total inspiration...
