it’s like the audience never heard this before?? i would of gone completly nuts!
Exactly what I thought . It one of their best tunes
Highly likely they haven't. Most of them will be yuppie twats who dropped in at The Joshua Tree/Rattle & Hum and steered away from "Achtung", only to return by "Pop"
My favorite U2 song finally they play live very rare wonder why they dont play it more often
100% love this tune . Bono still got the vocal for it
I love how he explained it like no one had ever heard of it.
This song is awesome!!! I listened to it on repeat for an hour driving around San Diego 😂🤣
U2 puts on some of the greatest live performances so I have heard
Finally! I thought this was one of the songs they never played lived because it was too hard to pull off. They need to play this more. Also Bono needs to put a bit more fire into it cause this song was actual fire back in the day. I love you guys but you need to find your balls again - Do something really full on - heavy hard rock - the world needs that right now. Peace and love everyone.
Unfortunately, I saw U2 during that Rattle Hum crap...and they did not play any of their good songs.
@@scottgrimes1287 Yeah they occasionally pull out some of the old songs with mixed success. They do 'Party Girl' every now and then. I'm betting if they tried to play 'Wire' now it would literally make The Edge cry. I don't think he is capable of playing that one live any more.
@@gl3nnium Well, I think I hit them in that commercial phase, when they had to play the albums they were promoting. I mean, I get that, but they had some really great tunes from their early days. I just dont think they were allowed to play them then But in that period, literally, los lobos was a better opening act. And we had these 5 Goth U2 chicks in front of us (us 3 guys) and we kicked the chairs away and danced like crazy to Los Lobos. THAT was incredible fun. Yes, one of my rebellious times... but...literally we were all hugging and kissing, not from U2, but Los. Security stopped by...but people around were like ""hey no..they are having fun" and they were as well...they were mixing it up to Los. And I am not saying Los Lobos fan, but boy, they had some fun dancing music.....would have made a good you tube moment had it existed then. 3 lilly white guys in polo shirts, totally dancing out with 5 Goth chicks, to los Lobos.
@@scottgrimes1287 Well U2 was my very first concert as a kid. The Love Town tour - Christchurch, New Zealand. So technically the first person i ever saw perform live was the opening act and that was fucking BB KING! How the hell do you follow that up. Hey as luck would have it parts of my first ever concert are here on youtube...how sweet is that. ua-cam.com/video/_az2j6wPxFA/v-deo.html
@@gl3nnium my experience with u2 was not from them..
my happy experience was from their opening band.......so, put me down
a very special song in a very special concert!
+Andreas Schmelter (schmelle) with a very dead audience
+David David Not the front rows main stage! We were more than crazy during this fantastic performance!
***** the fact still remains that 'former' 'true' U2 fans have all but disappeared, been in the background, for years, decades, no longer 'follow' 'THIS' so called 'U2' group, because that band ended after rattle and hum era............only true fans know and appreciate what once was the true band of 'U2'...........today's 'fans' are nothing more than wannabes, 'shells', actually they're really not 'fans' at all, you could ask most of them questions about the early U2, and they could not be able to answer you at all. Today's 'U2'' has long since had any conviction, power, and are nothing more than a silly circus-carnival travelling act' in fact, if you were to go to a circus and 'see the clowns', it is the same as attending 'a U2 show' today.
Great preformance of a great song. Brutal audience
WOW!!! best version! and nice shoot camera
Love this - play it more - it’s my first U2 song I heard.
thank you! That's Amra at the beginning just finishing the Meerkat. @U2_ultraviolet
u2 never get old 💓
When CDs came out I went back.and bought the 3 first albums and relived it all again. When you have 100s of songs and 12 new ones it's hard to play those gems. I threw a brick though a window, or partly girl, maybe?
Sleepy audience! I would've lost my shit if they played this.
Totally agree, unreal track.
Me too!
This rendition reminds me that they and we are old, definitely a key lower
sooo happy they pulled this one out of the vault
Uma das minhas preferidas, com certeza!
Outstanding
class!!!!
Adam.
Finally! I have never heard this song live!! Awesome!! :)
Richard Oliva Check out the Redrocks ‘83 version. Vastly superior.
Goosebumps!
Enjoyed enjoyed enjoyed really enjoyed this performance
Two Hearts .Best as one !!
💖❤️.🤴👸.
A Prince and His Princess.
You go bono! Sing your heart out!
Acho que alguém roubou a glândula supra renal e os testículos da banda. Uma música foda como essa, tocada assim, burocraticamente, cumprindo tabela.... Deprimente.
dropping the key down a few steps these days boys! still sounded great :)
"weddings, funerals, bar mitzvahs, we're available"
Dit is zo goed
Last time they played this song up to this point live was 1989.
Twice in ten years!
the beatles intro how CooL KooL
Amraa !!!
Yeah thats something. Two hearts beat as one
What the hell is up with that crowd? They looked dead during that MONSTER performance! If that was me, I'd be jumping up and down and screaming the words out!
Useless crowd or what???!!!
+Elliott Shaw yeh whats up with that audience? with the exception of a few people,
man, it's like a standing graveyard, if I were U2, I'd be like, hey, if
you don't appreciate us being here etc. then just walk offstage outta
there, there's no point to playing to dead people..............of all
the fans I've seen, italian ones are my favorite! I think they're the
most awesome U2 fans also!
Germans are generally quite reserved people
That one lady is the only moving
The lady with saggy tits in the white blouse
ok...let's say they are the best U2' s cover band...
The Red rocks performance is 100x greater
When will they put here Drowning man live if ever performed and filmed???
They say I'm foolThey say I'm nothingBut if I'm a foooool 4Uyeah,that's SOMETHING.(QUALCOSA C'È, SCEMA)
I keep seeing the people at behind and, wtf they are doing?
+Gabriel Rodrigues You mean all of the standing ones? We stood up (from seats) when this gig started, we had never sat down :)
+Jan Plecháč yeah but nobody moved-stood there like lifeless zombies-petrified - U2 are a rock show!
+David David I'm With you man, this is a rock show, is a night to shout, to dance, not to stand up and just see the band
Lucas Bach I have seen on videos old and new at least 3 I recall so far-different german concerts U2 performed all in Germany, one was so bad, U2 in berlin in 1982 or so, bono openly sang on mic the words interjected into the song 'I fall down' "Julie say, I don't like this show, think I'll go home" I don't think the indoor german crowd even understood English and whether they did or not I don't think bono really cared, this show which is on video-dvd, is probably one of if not THE worst show U2 played to a group of germans that in no way could be considered 'fans'. It's not U2 that were horrible, it was these german people, at an indoor concert in berlin metropol in 1982 I think, it was ghastly. The crowd may as well been zombies. At one point, near the beginning of the 'disaster', when a guy from U2's crew, named kevin, I think, came up to help bono with his guitar, or maybe his name was Stephen/steven, well, bono said to the german crowd, 'hey everybody, this is steven' -dead silence. Bono then said to them, 'It's customary in our country (Ireland) to clap/applaud when someone's been introduced' I think the whole 'show' 'disaster' wasn't that long, not a long setlist, I'm sure U2 couldn't wait to get outta there.........the german 'people' just 'stood' there as great raw rock n roll was being played, it was unreal.......I'm amazed bono didn't just say fuck it and leave earlier........got to be the WORST U2 crowd ever.........and I've continued to notice over the years the german people at U2 concerts are the weirdest in the way the act, or don't act, and just stand there, its pathetic...........from what I've seen, the Italian, south American fans, are the most appreciative and enjoyable fans to watch at a U2 concert, a lot of them really enjoy and take in the show, unlike stupid American punk kids wannabe fans, who just stand there and point their stupid camera-phones around-what a pathetic waste-America sucks anyways.....foreign fans from all over the world are way much more appreciative of U2, especially the south American ones, and the Italian ones, they are great to watch during a U2 show......................ther germans are still weird to this day, I'm amazed U2 even bothers going to Germany at all........I'm 49 yrs old, I grew up with U2, as their albums were being made, they're early, great stuff, I lived them, and watched bono turn into a complete mega asshole before my eyes, and U2 are hypocrites, because all the bullshit they were spouting out during the early days in interviews etc. about 'not compromising' they did that very thing - compromised -on so many levels, that any 'intimacy' that was there early on, is truly gone, now they're just generic like everything else, fucking shame........
David David yeah, I'm brazilian, never went to a U2 show, but the south american fans are the best, the energy! And man, I'm a musician, and it is a shit when the crowd look like zombies or old people. If you search for U2's concerts in USA, you'll laugh, ridiculous crowd, I mean, I don't know where you from but, I just can't see a rock and roll show With a dead crowd, feels like it looses the whole energy of the show.
😎😘
I’m not in the same key since 83 either
fucking tune!!!
Where's does Bono get his hair transplant from ?
This would've been my request too. This is an underrated song hidden behind a cheesy chorus, with guitar reminding me of New Order's "Ecstasy".
Lauren H. Oh wow, I totally hear that now. Thanks!
Bonos pulls it out of the bag again with the vocals, just to think the gigs he's done over the last 35 years it's lost a little power but we'll let him off .
The Germans will never understand polish-irish soul ;)
I love this song, but in this video my attention keeps focusing on the the girl in the whit tank top. The girl is awesome! She was there to rock out with a great rock band! Everyone else there seemed a bit lack luster.
As long as they got mullen on drums, they got it goin on
the audience is dead, yikes ! great song !
+SXI96 yeh whats up with that audience? with the exception of a few people, man, it's like a standing graveyard, if I were U2, I'd be like, hey, if you don't appreciate us being here etc. then just walk offstage outta there, there's no point to playing to dead people..............of all the fans I've seen, italian ones are my favorite! I think they're the most awesome U2 fans also!
+David David come to glasgow, scotland, one of the best places in the world for gigs the atmosphere is electric,non-stop bouncing...from start to finish
+David David The two with their arms crossed are the worst, why even pay to be there? haha
SXI96
amen, true! what's pathetic is this goes on everywhere, but especially in america, as all these younger people are interested in is pointing their cell phones at the stage and 'filming it', ridiculous! a good rock show or any for that matter, is best LIVED AND EXPERIENCED! not buying up tickets that others would be MUCH more appreciative of, just to have all these people stand there like idiots -not watch/enjoy the show, but play with their video phones or what ever! I've heard too of a lot of people 'LEAVING' the concert early, this is pathetic, because theres so many people that truly would enjoy being there, this is why U2 for decades now have shit fans, wannabes, who don't really care about the band, don't even know what vinyl is, don't know or care to know, I don't get how U2 has not picked up on this, bono was quoted in 1985 as saying 'a U2 show isn't worth $100,..............this is when tickets were like $20 to the joshua tree tour...............U2 has long since become 'sellouts' liars, compromisers, especially the king asshole, bono
@@DavidDavid-ch9lrccv
Is that Robin Williams singing?
Haha
Germany why?
My great great Gramma left IRELAND TO ESCAPE THE POTATO GENOCIDE !!!!
If you are going to do it then do it. This song has real fire. This is limp....
That's why they don't do different shows from one night to another...
voor jou ......:D
😥
Here Bono doesnt neither remember exactly the lyrics and the time
Great song, wrong country
The comparison between this performance and Red Rocks is not flattering
The entire cast of Walking dead as The audience....Manga de Pecho frío...
I don't think this live version sounds too great - very dead with the key brought down
u2 really "matured" together with their audience. Static and old. Better watch the red rocks concert.
triste ver a la gente no reconocer tamaña cancion ,sarta de poseros
And the award for the least enthusiastic audience goes to zee germans!
Awful crowd in the seats
+Brick Top stood there like frozen statues
Love this song but Bono looks like he took some xanax. But you know, we all get old
That stuck up girl who thinks she’s above everyone
I wonder why Bono dresses so ridicously, with that orange hair.
He should learn of his mates dressing and looking as always, and being the same guys.
It's a song not really worthy of being re-hashed. 'Like a Song' would've been so much better.
Worst crowd ever
Its sounds horrible, the Red Rocks version is much better. U2 has almost become a lounge act.
