He was ready to go bed lol. Typically the phrases "I gotta go down" and "I wanna go down" and the way he says it are his way of telling me that that's what he wants. Ollie was ready for bed too cause he started hollering right as I ended the video lol.
Oliver has finally cut one of his bottom teeth! And the other one should poke through any day!

Rescues are full of these wonderful birds, neglected, abandoned, and thrown out by inexperienced and most uneducated people that didn't know the kind of work and commitment it takes to have birds. STOP BIRD BREEDING, and help these magnificent creatures.

I cannot stress enough how heartbreaking this sad truth is.... Too many people impulse buy parrots because of cute or funny traits they've seen in other birds. ❗️No two parrots are alike...
A life stuck in a cage is cruel and so unfair to these magnificent beautiful creatures.
They deserve the absolute best!
So if you are interested in a parrot, please research, volunteer at a parrot rescue/sanctuary, KNOW what you're getting yourself into before you take on the work that comes with loving and homing a parrot.
Parrots are a LIFETIME commitment. They can live up to 80+ years!!
I've given up many many things to give my two parrots the best life they can possibly have! (Night out, gone on weekends, vacation time, a clean quiet house, extra money.. Etc.)
But to me it's all worth it, my parrots are my family and I love them like my children!
Please DO YOUR RESEARCH before adopting.
After all, we have our friends, our jobs, and our hobbies...
They only have us💗❗️❗️

Eloïse Lorenzi he's alright, his moods are all over the place in the winter months as are most other cockatoos because it's mating season. He's not hiding out of fear or seeking protection. ☺️ he goes under his cage frequently, it's his space, he chews up boxes and toys under there. He was ready for bed, that's why he was talking the way he was. I can't explain why he does it lol. I can assure you he wasn't upset at anything going on in the house. He's just letting me know he was ready to settle down and get ready to sleep.

Cool_Cookie I watched a documentary about Alex The African Grey (one of the most eloquent birds in the world) and the scientist in it (Irene Pepperberg if I remember correctly) talked about that even though a bird might only have the speaking ability of a two-year-old child, they can have the intelligence of a five-year-old, which can lead to them being frustrated when they can't articulate what they're thinking about. I think it's very likely that Gotcha remembers his life before he got adopted into this loving home, and I think entirely possible that he thinks about it from time to time, and that those thoughts might make him sad or anxious, just like how a human who has been through traumatic events can remember and feel bad about those memories, even though they live in a much better environment now. But I think that he feels much better now, with all the tender loving care he's been given
PTSD in animals is a real thing,you're right. They're having to provide therapy now for service dogs in the military after they're retired,because everything they've seen and heard in war traumatizes them,just like it does to their human soldier compatriots. My ex and I had two house dogs,and one day,during the time that we were gone to Wal Mart, our house was broken into. We're pretty sure one of our dogs was at least kicked(both of them appeared to be okay physically),because before the burglary,she was very independent. After the breakin,she was a Velcro dog. If we raised our hand to do something,even something as mundane as scratching our noses,she would flinch and cower. I don't think she ever totally recovered.
