I took the 900 GT Pro out for a test last week. Absolutely loved it. The bike feels so much lighter than it looks and very easy to get on and off centre stand. The engine is a peach. Torque from low down in the range and pulls like a train. Lots of fun in the twisties and set the cruise at 75 on the motorway. No hint of any vibes at all at any speed or revs. A marvelous bike and top of my list as a retirement (60 next week) present to myself. I was getting my BMW C400GT scooter serviced at Motorrad and tried out the BMW F900XR whilst there. Curiously on paper it's 3kg lighter but felt so much heavier than the Triumph.

A shame to give it back really, but if there is no centre stand, I can understand why🤣🤣. There would be more money left for shopping if on a Himalayan and it has a centre stand, but you would have to take the back roads and trails......😂😂. Another fine review👍👍.

not ez to scroll the menus to get waht you want while driving; bmw has a button to get all data thru all screens. ; This is like a file explorer in multi drop down menus' . Why. Many can be combined into one display like coolant temps, tpms,
See it has no engine temp. ?

@@ChrisSauer-oe5ve well 🤔 in the fantasy world and on the assumption the road was smooth tarmac I would like to think the Thruxton for its handling and acceleration and strangely at speed I find it comfortable with less wind blast/buffeting 😁 in reality, it has a poor fuel range. 😁 But, on the basis that in a getaway situation, not sticking to conventional roads might be an advantage, it could be raining, and the required distance to safety might be over a couple of hundred miles I would have to say the Tiger 😁

See, I've just sold my R1200GSA 2019. I just didn't like its sheer size, really.
I'm now in a dilemma on the next bike...
I'm budgeting for 2.. A commuter/winter/all year round kinda bike and an out n out summer weekend toy.
    I've narrowed the duo's to..
    Tiger 900 GT Pro
    XSR900.
    Tracer 9 GT+
    Honda CB1000R Black edition.
    R1200GS
    Ktm 1290 Duke R.
Only one I'm yet to ride is the new Tiger.

It seems like dealerships are dropping like flies over here.

@@TAYM Sorry to just notice your reply Mr TAYM.
I think bikes aren’t selling so well these days here in California, Inflation is running rampant after all the bad policies during the pandemic, which we’re all paying for.
So bike prices are high, but the average buyer doesn’t have the money to spend like they did pre pandemic. Younger buyers aren’t even interested in buying cars, let alone motorcycles right now.
I don’t know how my local Kawasaki, Yamaha, Husqvarna dealer stays in business. I don’t see the bikes moving very quickly.
Plus, they don’t take trades, which is bad business in my mind. It’s why I’ve only bought one bike from them and that was a lil KLX 300 in 2021.
That leaves me going out of the area, 3-6 hours to find a shop that’ll give me a decent trade and sell me a bike for a decent price.
Those are the two dealerships that closed on me.
You are right, being “stuck” with the 890 isn’t a bad thing. It’s a wonderful bike and super capable.
I think I’m just feeling left out of the retro bike club right now. 😂

If only it had a shaft drive -- Come on Triumph , Guzzi have a shaft drive on their 850 .!
Nobody ever mentions the required octane rating of the fuel.
In some areas of the world , you cannot get premium fuel .
The Honda Africa twin has an advantage here as it will run happily on low octane .
The Tiger 1200 needs high octane which might restrict a person's " Adventuring" somewhat , hopefully that does not apply to the Tiger 900 .

    • @dungspreader
      @dungspreader 3 місяці тому +2

@IanTed Moto Guzzi 850 TT ( shaft ) and Triumph 900 Rally ( chain ) weigh about the same . GT pro is a bit lighter .
For long distance rides , I'll take a shaft drive every time over the high maintenance chain and sprockets .Over time chains are more expensive .
Shaft is better in dusty abrasive conditions too .

I just realized what crash bars are for. Mounting points for a gopro. I don't see australia riders use them in the dirt, but I see trail riding out west USA use them when following trails in the mountains. But I see them on a lot of bikes that see 95 percent roads. Might just be me. As for the look, the tiger reminds me of Battle Cat/ Cringer of He-Man. Battle Cat with all its armor on!
