Sad even in depression people ate better than many do now. Not only are there chemicals in the food GMO food but the prices are non-sense! Looks really good though !!

That actually looks really yummy! My boyfriend has bad sensory issues when It comes to foods so I try to make unique and tasty foods that don't have too much going on texture wise. This looks perfect!

It started in 1929 and lasted till ww2 started. Tht is when we developed the war economy and we became consumers and became a consumer society. Our food was no longer from farm to table but farm to food companies to be processed and sold back to us. When big agriculture came into existence. Traded on wall street and stabelized the price of food.

Fried hot dogs and potato’s were a family staple growing up. 😊 I might try it with bratwurst and cheddar cheese on top!

My mom and dad who grew up during the Great Depression had a different story about how long it lasted. They remembered it lasting a lot longer than 10 years, it lasted past the end of the second World War up into the early 1950s, when industry started picking back up and jobs became more plentiful. But it was still hard times for a lot of people as the jobs that came into existence were poor paying low wage jobs and there was much competition for them. Jobs in the automotive industry were desired as the work was fairly steady, and the unions had become more powerful by that time. That gave workers a little more clout when it came to wage and benefit negotiations, and that was when non-union labor benefited from those negotiations, National Labor Relations imposed standards that employers were required to follow to give employees somewhat more fair wages other than those given to Paupers. I begrudgingly credit the unions with ending the Great Depression, and although I detest socialism, they did improve the quality of life for millions of Americans and that led to prosperity in other areas as well.
