how do you disable Samsung dex touchpad? I don't want to use a touchpad i like to use a mouse. I cant turn it off. help

For an alternative stick, I am not aware of any my self, but if you search for a miracast dongle, i am sure the smallest one should be able to work the same way.

Thank you for this video. When you are connected to the portable monitor, are the touch functions on the monitor still working?
Glad you liked the video. As for the touch function, as long as you connect it via the supplied USB-C to USB-C cable (I havent tried any others yet) and install the Zenscreen touch app then the touch screen function works.
If connecting wirelessly, It doesnt send the touch screen functionality back to the phone.

Thank you! In my testing I was not able to use the 4G data if i was connected to a wifi that had no internet. Even if I selected the option to switch to mobile data, it would disconnect the wifi to make the data work.

The touch screen will only work when connected directly with a USBC cable. It did not work wirelessly as it does not pass any commands back to dex. You dont need to extra router - this is just an option for the added functionality - I made an update video here on how to connect direct - ua-cam.com/video/L06UtVGO564/v-deo.html

Yes you can as it has Miracast. The FireTV stick just gives you the ability to use other things on there too.

Great information however there is a few problems with your content. The Amazon Fire TV stick has a lot of lag when used in conjunction with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I recommend instead using the MSdisplay adapter 96. This works a lot better with much less lag when using the wireless keyboard and mouse with Dex.

i actually broke out my old Microsoft Mirecast adaptor that i bought around the same time that the surface 1 came out. it works perfectly with wireless dex on my samsung galaxy s 22 ultra. the mirrorcast dongle has an HDMI port on one end and a usb A port or the other end for power. i plug on end ento the TV to give the dongle power and the HDMI to the HDMI port . turn on connect to monitor and wala.
Another bonus no wifi necessary. I connected the microsoft mirrorcast dongle to my LG projector that also has mirror cast built in. The wireless dongle works even better suprizingly. I think the fast that there is no wifi involved and microsoft made the dongle helps. I tried this setup with stadia and Gforce now and they both seem to perform very well

I'm thinking of buying the AnyCast M9 Plus or the M2 Plus just to use wireless DeX and screen mirroring with my old 2011 TV. Would you recommend that? I'll just mainly watch online videos via DeX, not play games.
Since they are both Miracast devices, in theory they should work fine. SInce I dont own any, I cant comment on their performance. If you do get it, please let us know how it goes :)
9:09 Probably you can switch off hotspot for a while and when you'll be already connected to wireless screen turn hotspot on again. I tried on poco x3.
I think you missed one setting that might make the portable router redundant if the miracast device can act as a WiFi hotspot (that's the type I ordered after the recent update). You can set the phone to use mobile data if the connected WiFi doesn't provide Internet access. It has been introduced about a year or 2 ago. I'ts a life saver when I have to connect to my dash cam which also acts as a hotspot. The current name of that setting (translated from Polish) is: *Switch to mobile data.* Use mobile data when Wi-Fi Internet connection is slow or unstable.
Hi Wojciech. The FireTV stick doesnt have its own wifi that you can connect your phone to directly normally. When you enable the setting for 'mirroring' it then shows up as a wifi network that you can connect to (which asks for a password - which I dont know)
Since making this video, i have found that you dont need to have the router if you didnt want to.
you can see the fireTV stick in the list of devices for wireless Dex even when it doesnt have a network connection (when morrioring is enabled on it). So in the case of this video, you can just swap out the router with a cheaper powerbank if you wanted everything portable.
What miracast device did you order?
My phone (Samsung S20 Ultra) does allow me to switch to mobile data when there is no network on wifi, but it disconnects the wifi (thus switching off the Samsung Dex connection) when doing this.
I ordered an EZCast device (the phone is S10). I did test the scenario I described and it did work. I turned off my WiFi router, and forced dex to cast on the device directly. I was able to use my mobile data at the same time. The only bummer is the input lag. This use case is ok to e.g. plug the device to a tv in a hotel and launch a movie on dex while still being able to use the phone, but is unusable if you want to actually do something (edit a document or just browse the web).
I think for DeX on the go you still are better off with Nexdock and this wireless mode is more for entertainment where you can watch something while not having to put away your phone because it's screen is currently being mirrored.
EDIT: One more observation, even from my appartment, where a quite good 5GHz router is in the same room is that the Wireless Dex connection is quite unstable when it goes through the router. Knowing how shitty WiFI networks in hotels usually are, I wouldn't plan using one of those in this scenario. The connection is much better when connecting directly to the miracast device.
I'm going to try this again and tweak with some settings to see if I can get it working on my S20 Ultra. WIll update you if I got it working.
When I use this router RAVPower FileHub (ac750) with a Amazon Fire TV Stick, how long battery of this device works in this combination. One hour? Six hours? .... hours? (approximately 😁)?
Buy a usb c to hdmi adaptor and us it with your galaxy device. Connect it to any hdmi display and you will be able to use dex on it.

With Amazon stick can I get internet on samsung dex? (just stick, local wifi, and regular tv)
You can pair the fireTV stick to your hotel wifi which gives the fireTV stick access to the internet to use for the apps on there natively. You can then cast your wireless dex to the fireTV stick directly, but your phone will be using whatever internet it has been using (most likely cellular data or the hotel wifi if its already connected). You dont actully need the fileHub in that scenario.

I kinda understand the usecase with the portable screen (even if this is not practicle enough yet in my opinion), bit I don't understand the use in a hotel. Why not connect your phone directly to the TV?

A 4G router would be a really good idea. Although the RavPower FIleHub does have some other features that a 4G router may not have.
In a hotel, you can connect your phone directly to the TV, but it wont be wireless. You could make it wireless by connecting the FireTV/Miracast dongle directly to the TV and use WIreless Dex that way without the router in between if you wanted also.
I did notice some lag when moving the mouse on the on phone trackpad, but havent measured the exact lag time. It is noticable though.
I'm just trying to figure out how I can connect wirelessly to my zenscreen. so if I wanted to, I could charge my phone or Zen screen while using it. Any help? I can't find any videos on this subject.

So with the router, your obviously not connecting to it via hotspot right? correct me if im wrong but this allows you to make your phone into a hotpot, with out engaging the hotpot function on the phone right?
Thats right. If you turn on the hot spot on your phone and then connect the fireTV to it, you cannot see the FireTV as a device that Wireless DEX can connect to. This is the reason why I needed the router to act as the hot spot.

consider a otg cable for the firetv
so you could add some other more value to the fire tv stick
:-) you don't need a otg cable anymore if you use the router to plug it an external hard drive...and even better with this solution you don't to have the drive in fat32 format.

but this setups works without the router with ease, since you could just make a hotspot on your mobile and connect the fire tv to it....

@Blackeye1987 - you cant use the hotspot on your phone (Samsung S20 Ultra at least) and wireless Dex at the same time. I have demonstrated this at the end of the video.

Unfortunately Wireless DEX only displays an image on the screen - it doesnt have a way to send touch screen commands back to the phone (maybe something Samsung could try doing in a futuire firmware update?) I wish it had this functionality!

Hi....wanted to ask what to do if you can't even access the screen on your phone?
My issue is that I need to take my Note 10 plus 5g for screen repair yet I have a bunch of files on there which I never got a chance to save to Google accounts etc. They need to wipe the phone so I'll lose everything on there if I don't move them.
I wouldn't even be using a pc (just my luck but current one is kaput too), just want to access deX on my TV to drag files from the phone onto its sd card, then I can go ahead and factory reset.
All of this is pointless if I have to tap anything on the phone screen though, because it's way too damaged.

Hmmmmmm....Tough one. I dont think you can. The only way to access wireless dex is by activating it from the phone it self. If you dont have acess to the screen, then this would not be possible.
You may be able to conect the phone via a USB-C to HDMI adapter and it may activate Dex on a TV screen, but you wouldnt have any way to control it as you would still need to use the screen on the phone as a trackpad. That is unless you previously had a mouse connected to it via bluetooth.
Another route would be to get a USB C hub with HDMI port on there. Plug in a USB mouse and keyboard to the hub and work on it like a normal computer.

I appreciate you're trying to stay clear of wires but...what about connecting the hub to your phone with a wire and allow Internet access. I'm looking at a very similar solution with a 'wecast 4k' which doesn't require Internet access for screen mirroring. It is Miracast enabled so should work with Dex but I haven't seen anyone confirm that yet.
Essentially, you can completely forego the need for the hub and remote, but as I haven't tested it can't confirm yet.

Im getting an s20fe, and i have an old Samsung TV and Xiaomi mi box the 1st one with 4k and 1gb ram, but that box ONLY have ChromeCast, if i get and fire TV even the cheap one, i can play play dex wireless right? Plus Netflix and whatch UA-cam
The FireTV stick LITE will not work, I am not sure if the 2020 version will work either. I know that the 4K version has the screen mirroring.

It will display Full HD as far as I am aware.

@@rpc72 I tjhinl saw a video of what you are reffering too that could make Dex wireless before Samsung proposed wireless DEX so i think it was basically a scam at that time. now that wireless dex is a reality maybe it will work better.

On your PC it depends on the resolution that your screen is set to. If it isnt the same as DEX, then you will get the black bars.

Yes, I believe it will work, as the Microsoft wireless display is a Miracast dongle. I beileve it is nearly the same as the FireTV in cost, but is ONLY a miracast dongle and nothing else.

Google TV wouldnt work as it doesnt have something called miracast. This is what is required for it to be picked up by Wireless Dex.

Hi Vipul, Samsung DEX doesn't work with Chromecast. It only works with Miracast devices which is why I recommended the FireTV

Hi, the only way to achieve this is to have either a neewer Samsung TV that has the screen cast feature built in or to buy a miracast dongle like the fireTV stick. You can connect to it directly ( See my video here: ua-cam.com/video/L06UtVGO564/v-deo.html ) and you can then connect a bluetooth mouse and keyboard to your Note10+ (or use the on screen trackpad and keyboard from your phone). @@jalagni8596 If the monitor has a HDMI input and built-in speakers you can hear the audio through those. If they don't, then you can always connect a Bluetooth speaker or headphones to the Amazon FireTV stick and get sound that way. I often listen to the sound from the fireTV stick via my Bluetooth headphones and its really great!

1:43 the connected display is not compatible with wireless Dex. I did the same thing on my Microsoft wireless adadpter. Wireless Dex works but the resolution and experience is just not as good as connected it from the phone directly to the display

Amazon FireTV stick in HDMI port of Sony Bravia TV. Cast DEX wirelessly to that.
Apart from the Amazon firestick, I dont think you need to buy anything else the router is overkill.
When connecting to your PC did you manage to have the keyboard and mouse also supported?
Edit : OK i take that back about the router did not know until watching the video that hotspot was not available during that scénario.
The router is only for times there are no wifi networks available (or public wifi where you cant see each device). It becomes an all on one solution.
Unless your casting from a windows 10 device to a windows 10 device, the mouse and keyboard cannot be used (as far as i know). You will need to connect a bluetooth mouse and keyboard to your phone or just use the on screen trackpad and keyboard from your phone.

Most people have Chromecast, does it work with it?
Unfortunately not (I wish it was). It needs to be a Miracast device or Samsung TV with built in smart view (which is their implimentation of Miracast)

Unfortunately not. Wireless Dex only works with Miracast devices, which a chromecast is not.
How do you connect a keyboard and mouse?
Using Bluetooth. Make sure the mouse and keyboard are bluetooth ones.
Anyone notice some lag with using either a bluetooth mouse or the phone as a touchpad? I realize it might be expected behavior but wanted to see if maybe I missed something...
I had some lag with my phone as a touch pad. Will try connecting a bluetooth mouse and keyboard to see how that behaves connected to the phone.

Ever since the update dex only wants to connect wireless. I need it to give me the option to use a cable but it won't come up on my phone. Grrr
Oh no, instead of holding down the 'dex' icon in the quick panel, click on it once quickly. It will launch DEX like that.
How about chromecast?
I wish it worked with that, but unfortunately it will only work with miracast devices.

It all depends on your usage scenario. I wouldnt be able to advise what would work best for your personal needs. But a phone can be used as either a phone or a desktop mode. A tablet/Tablet PC cannot be used as a phone so will only have 1 use.
It doesn't work when there's no miracast on the pc.
You can install Miracast separately on the PC. I showed you how to do it in this video.
WiDi app for Android TV stick? My WiDi stick doesnt work with Dex. XBOX Works
I dont believe you can. WiDi needs to be built into the device since it is a direct wifi to wifi connection. The Xbox possibly has Miracast built in since it is a microsoft product.
My fire tv stick has no mirror capabilities
Perhaps you have a much older version or you have your wifi turned off on it?

One problem with rich people is they dont understand the usability of things 😂. You are suggesting to purchase a wireless router just to have a common wifi to connect to any random TV, right? Well, you can do this by just using your mobile hotspot and connect your firestick to that wifi, thats it. As a matter of fact, I would suggest just purchasing and carrying a super cheap(
That will work when screen resolution is supported by Dex. I have a mobile monitor which have ratio 16:10 and wont work with Dex directly.

So many ways to skin a bird - so many ways to use technology to do do what we need it to. If a laptop works for you, then go ahead and spend your money on one. For people who dont want to spend that much and would rather have their phone have all their media/documents/music, then they can do something similar to this. Thanks for watching.
