This whole album was so great. It’s almost unbelievable to know how depressed he was just before he did all of this great stuff. I can understand why he adored Linda because she propped him up when he was sinking. And then he did this! 🌺✌️
Yes! He went through a period of time when he questioned his identity apart from the Beatles. It was before he emerged as s full fledged genius in his own right. Linda never left his side during those dark days. Theirs is such a pure sweet love story. I can only imagine that her death nearly destroyed him. @@debbiechang5781 Well said Debbie. I have followed McCartney since he was in the Beatles, and I think you’ve captured everything that he was going through at that time.
I think sometimes he does fantastic work when he allows any dark emotions in (which I think generally he's one to try to just ignore them). I think the CD Driving Rain is brilliant. And I believe he was exorcising some demons about Linda's death and such when he wrote the songs on this album. He's gained the reputation over the years of being the light frothy one, but there are unchartered depths there and when he charts them, magic happens.
My name is Albert, so when this song was on the radio every 5 minutes, everyone that met me sang, "We're so sorry, Uncle Albert...🎶🎵" It was cool that an ex-Beatle used my name in a song.
@@mgonzales56 Enjoy. But AM radio also destroyed Band on the Run, IMO, which I can’t listen to it anymore. However there is a great live version by Wings on UA-cam.
It was this kind of composition that McCartney excelled at and which led him to ultimately compose a full symphonic work. I love this album so much. The Beatles and each Beatle as a solo act has been such a gift!
While his former bandmates (John and George) needed to hang out with the biggest names on the scene or constantly be under the spotlight to be successful again after the Beatles disbanded, Sir Paul literally started from scratch, in the muddy countryside of an isolated Scottish farm, for the first time in his life all alone, just him and his creativity. He released two fantastic solo albums and then started one of the most acclaimed and successful rock band of the 70s , Wings. While his former bandmates (who absolutely wanted to escape the Beatles to pursue their solo career) basically didn't tour during the 1970s, Sir Paul came from the humble Wings home tour of UK Universities in 1972 to put on the greatest world rock tour of the year 1976 .. And he will continue to work and sell millions of records for another 40 years after the end of Wings ... Paul is not only the greatest creative genius of modern times, he is the greatest hard-working musician on the scene because he deeply LOVES being a musician more than anything else in his life ... He loved being a Beatle more than any other band member ..
All by himself, McCartney is the most successful songwriter ever. It's easy to conclude the Beatles are the greatest of all rock groups. Lennon, McCartney, and Harrison succeeded as song writers as individuals. Who compares?
When Ram was first released it was panned by the critics. As time went on the appreciation for this album has grown exponentially. It is truly an incredible Album.
Jann Wenner, the editor of Rolling Stone, was a Lennon fanboy. He ordered all of his critics to trash all of McCartney's solo work. This really happened. Rolling Stone was unbelievably powerful at the time, and the effects of that thrashing lasted for decades.
Is this the most Beatlesque of all of solo Paul McCartney‘s career? Perhaps! I believe it is his best effort! you said it all… To be honest I thought for years that this was a Beatles song because the background singers sounded like George John! 😃

I never really understood the debate about who was better, Paul or John. My lord they were both massively talented musicians and songwriters. I always did have a liking for Lennon because his sons always had an emotional edge, but there is no denying Paul's utter brilliance and man did they mesh well together. As far as solo careers, John came out of the gate strong with Plastic Ono Band and Imagine, two of my favorite albums ever, to the later Mind Games and the awesome Double Fantasy before he was killed. Paul had his great stuff as well, with his self-titled first solo, Red Rose Speedway and Ram, as well as his golden albums with Wings. The definitive single from Ram. My favorite though is Monkberry Moon Delight, the vocals are the best since Oh Darling. 💖💖💖 Another wonderful reaction Harri. Paul is a Wizard!
Love this song! It was a big hit. Sounded like The Beatles again. This had "Too many people" attacking John. So John posed with a pig the way Paul posed with the Ram for his song reacting to Paul's attack. Lol! It was hilarious😂 even if it was mean.
Have you ever watched the British soap opera Coronation Street? Uncle Albert was a much-loved character for many years on the show. This song sounds like the Beatles because Paul surpassed John in song writing and became the major influence of the band. The early years were a stronger collaboration between John and Paul. Part of the reason the Beatles broke up. Another reason was, Paul wanted to continue doing shows while the rest of the band did not love traveling and doing live shows.
Hi Harri! Always loved this song. Paul is definitely touching on progressive rock here. I haven't heard this in a long time. I remember this playing in the radio. I totally agree with you on it sounding like the Beatles. It's daytime here but nighttime there.. So have a wonderful night and thanks for this one. Your reaction was great!☺️
Paul songs just are on another level. He's so easy in his genius it's sublime. Ram is my favorite album of his and some of my favorite music, just incredible stuff
You can definitely hear how Jeff Lynne of ELO was influenced by McCartney and The Beatles. The light strings in this are nice and the sound of rain and thunder reminds me of the ELO song Summer and Lightning, which was released about six years after this song.

Love this song! It was a big hit. Sounded like The Beatles again. This had "Too many people" attacking John. So John posed with a pig the way Paul posed with the Ram for his song reacting to Paul's attack. Lol! It was hilarious😂 even if it was mean.
And,of course, there's "Monkberry Moon Delight" on this LP. In all, the tunes on this record are most creative and typical for his incredible talent.
Paul is a genius and a human gift to planet earth, for a limited time, from heaven. Thanks.
Love that man and every song he's sang. Magic.
Paul is simply a genius
Hi Harri! Always loved this song. Paul is definitely touching on progressive rock here. I haven't heard this in a long time. I remember this playing in the radio. I totally agree with you on it sounding like the Beatles. It's daytime here but nighttime there.. So have a wonderful night and thanks for this one. Your reaction was great!☺️
Catchiest tune ever. Paul McCartney is just too amazing
My absolute favorite post-Beatles Macca. So much good.
I love u Paul forever
Paul songs just are on another level. He's so easy in his genius it's sublime. Ram is my favorite album of his and some of my favorite music, just incredible stuff
Yep. This album is my favorite by Paul. The entire thing is pure gold. I love listening to it with my kids because it's so fun and happy.
The whole Ram album is spectacular. I think it's one of the most underrated albums of the 70's.
Perfect fully down to earth music that anyone can get along with...Ty brother Harri
You can definitely hear how Jeff Lynne of ELO was influenced by McCartney and The Beatles. The light strings in this are nice and the sound of rain and thunder reminds me of the ELO song Summer and Lightning, which was released about six years after this song.
One of my favorite post Beatle hits. Paul nailed it.
Another great one is Beware My Love.
really love this song, since the day it first played on the radio - it quickly went to #1. I took a chance and bought the album Ram ASAP, and it's a great one.
"adorable" :)
The title track, "Ram on" is also a wonderful little song.
Thank you, Harri 💖
I was a little kid when this came out and I was impressed even then...such a beautiful and multi-faceted song. So many songs in one and I still love it today.
