Take a listen to The War on Drugs. You won't regret.
MetalJesusRocks not going to lie I miss your videos being uploaded in Dailey basis
Gunship is a really rad band.
Take a listen to this Jason MJR. One of my faves Robert Miles Dreamland and 23a.m. album
Amazing. We share the love for metal and 95% of the same musical taste, too! Oxygene? Daft Punk? Steely Dan? Jazz? HELL YEAH!!
Key takeaway: "If you're a real music fan, you branch out to other genres."
Not one UA-cam comment about how my video is artificially raising the price of Steely Dan albums?! WTF internet trolls. Where you at? ;)
if the price of a copy of Loveless goes up because of this I'm gonna have to challenge you to a 3 stock, final destination, fox only showdown
The famous or should I say infamous MJR bump. Also which one of those albums would you consider a .....hidden gem? 😎
nah Urban Outfitters is already raising the prices in your place.
You can’t even find a Jean Michel Jarre record anymore because of you. Thanks a lot...
I ended up with two vinyl copies of Aja a few years ago. I gave one copy away. Maybe those days are coming to an end.
That version of "take five" on dave brubeck live album is the best. Metal jazzus? Who knew ?
If you liked Night at the Opera give the first two Queen albums (Queen and Queen II - especially Queen II) a listen.
You can still see the Zeppelin influence, and it's very fantasy-metallish. One of my favourites of all time.
Discovery is one of those rare albums where every track I like.
Same, no matter my mood, I can put that album on from start to finish, and almost always come out feeling most positive.
I actually think Too Long is too short.
morefishscale lol I see you on skate videos all the time.
Face to Face always floods me with a ton of emotions every time I listen to it.
Check out "Music Sounds Better With You", it's like a halfway point between Homework and Discovery in terms of sound. Just Thomas Bangalter from Daft Punk but it definitely has that tingly electronic feeling. Stardust in the music video look a bit Daft Punk-y too, with outfits that cover their faces.
Next episode: “Top secret 15 guilty pleasure albums”: featuring the BeeGees, Neil Diamond, and Hulk Hogan and the Wrestling Boot Band! :D
Material Girl performed by ELITE BEAT AGENTS is on my list.
The Bee Gees are actually pretty good. I listened to a greatest hits compilation recently and there's just so many good songs. That being said, I listened to Trafalgar and thought it generally sucked in entirety.
Love the intro music change for this video, and awesome video man, as always.
This is a great video! Thank you for sharing your interests with us! We all know you love metal, but it was so cool listening to you gush about Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis, and Prince. I have a snow day here in upstate NY, I’m gonna spend it listening to records! Thanks, MetalJesus! I wish i could send you a copy of my band’s album. The vinyl is blue, see-through, and sparkly! We are Victory Soul Orchestra, the album is Astrobeat, and it is also available on all the streaming services.

One More Time. My favorite. Especially their extended version, i think it's called Club Mix.
Hey Daft Punk, another french band :=)). Same country as Jean Michel Jarre :=)
These are some of my fav videos you do :)
I feel like you can also make a good few videos about your music tastes. I'm suprised you haven't posted any of your sets before
Danny booooooi!!!
Loved the video!! Would love to see a follow video to this! So happy you mentioned a night at the opera by queen also one of my all time favorites.
JIN MICHAEL JIRARD wtf.
Heh.
Come on MJR. This is how you say his name... ua-cam.com/video/KBMNRqltnRI/v-deo.html
Zhahn Meschelle Zharr.
@@WithScienceAsMySheperd Not quite as it's French. The J is soft, not hard as in Jar. I can't actually think of a word in English that has a soft J come to think on it, so I can't really compare.
zon michelle jar
@@WithScienceAsMySheperd I think its easier for English people to say they have to pronounce it as a soft sh sound and not J. The english J is way to different in mouth movement then the French J ;) for example the word shrewd that is the sound that is similar to the J from Jean.
You should check out pertubator or kavinski or Dance with the dead.
Very 80s style retrowave electronic music that took a time machine to get here. Seriously if you see these vinyl grab them.
The new pertubator b sides album has a castlevania 3 clock tower remix. It's to die for.
I think Guy from Daft Punk produced for Kavinski.
DWtD for sure. Listening since 2012 or so, quality stuff but more for post-industrial fans proabably.
I recommend chvrches
Smiling throughout this MJR, even though like you, my first love in music is metal. Have always enjoyed your passion whatever the subject. Big love.
Love your picks, love your channel!!!
Steely dan has always been my favorite. RIP Walter Becket
nonuv urs BABA BOOEY
are you reeling ???
or is it becker?
Greatest band to ever exsist in my opinion. I listen to house music and dubstep personally but i always add stelly dan when asked what music i listen to. Lol
What console do these games work on? Look like lazerdisc size..
You record them into tape and then load them into your Commodore PET :)
No man, you plug it into an atari 5200 connector box, and they only work on TVs made by Sanyo.
Not what I’m used to seeing from you, but I like it. Great choice in music. Some of these I’ll have to check out as I wasn’t familiar. Keep stuff like this coming.
It’s seems like it’s been forever since you uploaded a video. I love your videos man.
Yes! Glad to see Animals getting some love
Didn't expect but was happy to see that My Bloody Valentine - Loveless was on your list, it is truly a masterpiece!
Great video, if you did another one of these I'd be a very happy man. Btw my suggestion would be Violent Femmes debut, it's fucking beautiful but hell I could sit here all day typing suggestions but this was the first that sprang to mind.
Hope you show off some hip hop records in the future. Love your taste btw, keep the good content coming!
No Kraftwerk album?
Johnny Cage Computerworld ❤️
More significant musically than The Beatles!
Literally listening to Europe endless now!
Depeche Mode as well.
The Mix.
Discovery is one of my favorite albums ever! I can listen to Discovery or The Wall any time any day.
cool video man, looking forward to your next metal vinyl video!
Loved this video. Huge fan of games and metal as well. Would like to see more of these types of videos in the future.
You should check out the bands: solstafir and heilung.
We have very similar taste. Except for your favorite Floyd album. My favorite is Obscured By Clouds with The Division Bell a close second. I know; Division Bell takes a lot of flack but I love it nonetheless.
I completely agree with you about The Division Bell.
Division Bell is my fave, and Momentary Lapse of Reason is a close second. Not that I hate Waters or anything but, those "classic" Floyd albums always seemed to get old after a while. The albums post-waters never seemed to loose its luster for me
LOL i m still laughing of his pronounce Jean Michel Jarre... oh my!
butchered it!
Great video!!! I love MBV. So cool you have that Loveless original issue.
Really appreciate the list gave me some great ideas for new records to pick up. Just started getting into synthy stuff like Cars heartbeat city and Depeche mode albums. Now I know to pick up some My Bloody Valentine as well!
It's good to be open minded with music, I love all genres. I can go from listening to Slayer to Reel Big Fish to Oasis to Gorillaz. I just love music which has a clear passion and meaning behind it.
Same I can listen to rock to metal to hip hop to ska to pop (2000s) to electronic/dance music listening to musicians like Green Day, Nirvana, The Ramones, NWA, Amy Winehouse, Suicide Silence, Norah Jones, Kendrick Lamar, and Metallica
Pink Floyd Animals, masterpiece right there. Saw Roger Waters play "Pigs (Three Different Ones) live on the recent tour, and that made my day!
And after a while, you can work on points for style
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in
I have a complete Pink Floyd collection except Dave Gilmer ruin the band after Waters left on vinyl and I have an nice promo animal gold stamp vinyl and Japanese copy of animals vinyl..
Yep... Animals... my favourite Floyd album. Superbly dark music, and some of the most awesome Gilmour guitar work. :-)
Animals is good but I prefer the entire wish you were here album. The entire shine on you crazy diamond is a great song to zone out to. And I mean the entire 9 parts. I also loved meddle is well.
Love that record.
Really pleased and pleasantly surprised with the Loveless inclusion. I am like you a lifelong music and gaming nerd and Loveless has been my favourite album for all of the 28 years since its release. Also love most of the other stuff you have there...Miles, Brubeck, Discovery, Floyd, Prince, Jarre etc. We would have a lot to talk about over a beer clearly and I would have so many recommendations 🙂👍 ( am also a lifelong Sabbath and Maiden head btw )
I really enjoy your content, as I love video games, but I really, REALLY enjoyed this video in particular mate!
All the best.
Great collection of records 😊 we need more record videos 😀
My favourite non rock albums are Mezzanine by Massive Attack and 36 Chambers by Wu Tang. Well worth a listen.
Always interesting to talk about music and vinyl. If you feel up to trying more jazz, Ryo Fukui is good name to pop in the search bar.
Cool to see that your eclectic taste in gaming is also present in your music taste. Discovery is one of my all-time favourite albums, glad we have that in common. Great video as always. \m/
Do you like any Prog rock like King Crimson or Genesis?
I definitely listen to Dream Theater the most...but I also like Yes, Porcupine Tree, Kansas and RUSH
@@MetalJesusRocks you should listen a band called jack the joker. Also Riverside from poland
mars volta.....that is all
Now where is your top Metal/Rock albums? Boy would i like to see them! It'd really like to see what you defy as awesome in them genres!
I was thinking he had some videos he made like that. One was for metal and the other was for hair bands.
@@rdross80 Link it up then lad, all I've seen are Gaming ones ..apart from this one
I've been in a musical slump lately and this just made my day. I've been wanting to listen to something different than my usual music playlist and this hit spot. 👍 This just made my day a million times better.
Love you videos dude. How do I send you games?
Metal Jesus could do a video on PSP fps out of your collection pls!!!!

Take Five. Masterpiece.
KIND OF BLUE?! LOVELESS?! AJA?! Fantastic taste, my man.
MetalJesus stepping up!
Nice. You had me with the thumbnail. Killer rework of the intro theme.
Thank you so much for introducing me to My Bloody Valentine I cannot stop listening
That album is a masterpiece! If you like this check out a band called Slowdive.
The previous album isn't anything is much better
Kool video! Teach them kids about real music. Now get off my lawn, you young whippersnappers!
I love these kinds of videos. I am a metal kid for life but I listen to so much more. If you have public playlists on Spotify I would love to listen to them.
Great video MJ and awesome new intro
Jean Michel Jarre, you coudn't of pronounced it any worse.
hahaha...totally agree
Yeah, you're supposed to pronounce it more like John Michele Jar. He is French so Jean is close to John.
couldn't have*
You should listen to the Gorillaz especially if you like genre blending and electronic music.
Hell yeah!!
I was obsessed with Demon Days back in 2005! Excellent album
@@MetalJesusRocks if you dig electronic music I'd recommend Kid A by Radiohead
Gorillaz is weeb music
@@juliopiotti8807 I listened to Kid A recently and wasn't impressed. I try to get through a few albums a day and some are a breeze and just move along. For some reason that one just felt like it needed to end a lot sooner than it did. I can't explain why I didn't like it, because it was just not memorable to me for any remarkable reason.
That was great, looking forward to more music related videos!
Great video, I learned some stuff! I didn’t know Daft Punk has a movie so that is on my to do list along with that Oxygen album. I recommend a unique genre Gypsy Punk with the band Gogol Bordello and my favorite track is Mishto!
I dedicated a small paragraph to each album, but here's what I would recommend if you want to skip the TL;DR part.
Kuedo - Severant
Bardo Pond - Amanita
Roy Montgomery - Scenes From The South Island
Torn Hawk - Through Force of Will
Do Make Say Think - & Yet & Yet
Huerco S. - For Those Of You Who Have Never (And Also Those Who Have)
William Basinski - A Shadow In Time
Menace Ruine - Alight in Ashes
-------------------------------------------
Since you've liked Jean Micael Jarre, you may like 'Severant' by Kuedo, a more recently released record. It's an homage to the late '70s and early '80s era of synth-based music, updated with more modern rhythms. It heavily recalls Vangelis' Blade Runner soundtrack. Going as far as sampling one of the songs.
If you want some space/psychedelic rock, try the band Bardo Pond. They're known to build their own effects pedals, write incredibly noisy and distorted songs that are heavily inspired by psychedelic drug use. Kind of a middle ground between 'Loveless' and your love of psychedelic rock. You may dig the album 'Amanita'
Bardo Pond collaborated with guitarist Roy Montgomery twice as Hash Jar Tempo. He was originally in a post-punk band, he started recording ambient, electric guitar-based music later in his career. 'Scenes From The South Island' is great.
Torn Hawk is a great producer, he makes lo-fi, '80s inspired, often guitar-based electronic music. 'Through Force Of Will' is a great album.
'& Yet & Yet' by the band Do Make Say Think is an amazing album. Post-rock heavily influenced by bands like Tortoise, and later experimental era Talk Talk. Instrumental, melodic, heavily guitar-based rock music.
'For Those Of You Who Have Never (And Also Those Who Have)' by Huerco S. is one of my favorite albums. It's ambient electronic music, but very much unlike the classic era of synth experimentation. The songs are mostly soundscapes and loops, and there's deliberately little to no effort put into song structure, with only very subtle changes towards the ending. They're loops and it just works so well for this.
'A Shadow in Time' by William Basinski is a recent release of his. It's ambient electronic music. He's known for working with tape loops of compositions that he wrote and recorded in the '80s, but processed into songs in modern times. After the tape has also some. Repetition is key here. This record in particular is a tribute David Bowie, whom Basinski was a huge fan and admirer of.
I didn't really recommend any metal, since I think my tastes in metal are pretty much the opposite of yours. But Menace Ruine is an awesome band. A synthesizer based drone metal band. Heavily influenced by industrial music, neo-folk, noise and black metal. By synthesized-based I mean that there are no guitars on their albums. But these aren't flashy, '80s prog. metal synths. They're tonally more akin to crush electric guitars, really noisy and metallic sounding. On their older records, their vocalist and primary songwriter employed more higher tempos and black metal-inspired screams. Here, she makes use of more operatic vocals.
@CaseofGlass Cool! Feel free to update this thread with your thoughts if you feel like it!
Bardo Pond!! Yes!!
thanks. how about making some videos, maybe a podcast about music you like and discover? cheers
Its pronounced Jan Michel Jar not Jean Mikeal Gerrar
Great collection of music, thanks for sharing.
Daft Punk's Discovery is one of my all-time favorites! Did you check out the accompanying animation feature Interstella 555? It expands on the videoclips of the first three songs of the album with a complete story, I highly recommend it!
Hey MJR, I would highly recommend if you haven't listen to any full Dire Straits albums to give them a chance. The radio hits do that band absolutely no justice. Folks say Brothers in Arms is the best album, but I wouldn't recommend listening to that whole album first. Try Making Movies and Love Over Gold for some of those deeper cuts followed third by On Every Street which is understated, but still a satisfying album. If all you know about Dire Straits is the "Money for Nothing" MTV music video - give them a look. In a time when people were rocking Flock of Seagulls haircuts and going all new wave, Dire Straits produced some solid rock music with jazz and country influence.
I listened to Brothers In Arms recently. I wasn't impressed. They seemed to try to jam a little too long on some of the songs and frankly I felt it went too long. When a song is like 6 mins long and at 4:30 you're like, "Okay, hang it up and move on guys, this song was over 30 seconds ago."... it's kind of a problem.
I like a natural feel to things like solos. If I'm listening to music and starting to look at the run time and track length, it's not good. They could have cut the length of their songs and improved the album.
Money For Nothing is good and Walk of Life, but some of the other songs we better as background music for doing something else.
@@sbrazenor2 that's why I don't recommend first time listeners to start with that album, some of the songs on that album are gratuitous. The first album I listened to was actually On Every Street and it was great for being the least ambitious and gratuitous of Dire Straits albums. It's still the one I listen to the most though I can't call it the best.
@@dougradtke I'll give that one a shot.
Aphex Twin - ...I Care Because You Do, Richard D. James Album
Laibach - Whistleblowers, The Sound of Music
Ministry - Side Trax
Tiamat - Wildhoney, Deeper Sound of Slumber
My Dying Bride - Angel and the Dark River
I care is fucking amazing! Mookid, Alberto Balsam

Aphex!!!
@@op-z been listening to that lp since 98. Brace yourself Jason is one of my all time favorite tracks
@CaseofGlass Twitch is awesome, I think Side Trax was done at about the same time. Early Anathema and early Paradise Lost would fit that list nicely... "metal" though :) And Pink Floyd - Meddle is just out of this world.
Great, great list dude! Maybe I should go get some Steely Dan. I remember my dad put it on during a road trip when I was little and didn't care for it. Might have changed since then so I'm off to get a Steely album. Cheers :)
I hope you will be doing a vinyl pick up video soon I love those .
Holy crap you have fantastic taste, man.
I always enjoy your lp recomendations, I'm a huge collector of this retro media, and I have the same two hobbies, video games and music. I would recomend you Dynamo from the band Soda Estereo. They are from Argentina, very popular on this región, back in 1992, it's rock-noise-psichodellyc-something… This álbum sounds great and better on vinyl.
Dynamo es el Album más introvertido y "duro"de toda la gran discografía de Soda Stereo!....Saludos desde Chile!

Loveless changed my entire perspective on playing guitar. Got a Jazzmaster and a Jaguar and changed my whole pedalboard because of it. Kevin Shields is a genius.
Same, and that album got me through High School. I grew up on Blues and Classic Rock. Loveless completely shattered my fascination for guitar solos. Kevin Shields and Robin Guthrie from the Cocteau Twins showed me that you don't need to be a shredder to convey emotion when playing the guitar.
@@BeatlesPetty Dude I couldn't have said it better myself. Kevin Shields made you feel way more with 3 chords than most people can with 100s of notes.

Subjective
really I'm just here to talk up discovery... I'd heard a couple of those songs off random dancemania albums (as I was super into DDR at the time it definitely got me interested in some of the other albums/songs that didn't make the cut when Konami tapped them for their arrow-smashing phenomenon) but then my significant other pointed me to the music video part of it, I was blown the heck away! I did also really dig the stuff they did for TRON Legacy those were some really cool songs. Might have to look up some of these other albums though can't imagine they'd be too hard to find via youtube or spotify...
Great episode, I was a huge Queen & Cars fan, I highly recommend checking out early Cars albums before Heartbeat City.
You have excellent tastes in games AND music, sir. But you cannot speak french lol
My Bloody Valentine is one of the best bands ever. And Loveless is one of the best albums ever made.
Hey MetalJesus, what's your opinion on Nu Metal? A lot of metalheads despise the genre. Although I haven't listened to too much Nu Metal, I personally like it. Heck, although I primarily like Thrash and Death Metal, one of my favorite albums is Drowning Pools 2001 album Sinner, which is very Nu Metal. What's your take on it?
Wow, that's a really good list! Definitely think that you should check out BTBAM if you haven't (but I'm sure you have). Pretty much every Aphex Twin, Brian Eno, and Jon Hopkins album is amazing. If you haven't gotten into tech death yet, then check out Where Owls Know My Name by Rivers of Nihil (it has a really good prog influence and is very reminiscent of Pink Floyd imo) and Relentless Mutation by Archspire. I've sure you've already gone down the metallic hardcore rabbit hole, but Converge and the Dillinger Escape Plan are insane and all of their albums are classics.
A list without The Beatles and Radiohead? Sacrilege!
My picks are:
Kid A by Radiohead
Revolver by The Beatles
In the Court of the Crimson King by King Crimson
Blackstar by David Bowie
Homogenic by Björk
Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis
Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
Ágætis Byrjun by Sigur Rós
Right there with you, stranger.
The Beatles are the most overrated band of all time.
@@kropking The discography of The Beatles is so vast, varied, important and, above all, great, I have a hard time calling them 'overrated'. It is simply a baseless critique.
You may not love The Beatles, but you and everyone else should, at the very least, appreciate their work.
@@jazzfan67 I guess there's some truth to that.
Meaters I’ve been playing guitar for 22 years and still can’t find a reason to appreciate their work. I agree, they’re overrated. The kinks were infinitely better in my eyes. Black Sabbath dome more for the music industry.
Who needs drugs when you have Pink Floyd???
You're doing it wrong. You're supposed to listen to Pink Floyd WHILE ON DRUGS.
Nice choices. Thanks for sharing!
A video about music with no music, lol. But we trust your taste! One of my favourite albums of all time that never gets old is “Sold for a Smile” by The Gandharvas. There were a 90s Canadian alt rock band. I didn’t really like them much when they first came out, but this album is a fucking masterpiece. The singing is so intense, the guitar work is amazing and the songs are catchy with great lyrics! Its much heavier than their earlier albums, but not metal. They didn’t release anything after this as far as I know and it’s a damn shame. The album is on Spotify - hope you enjoy it! Your channel is great by the way.

Yes! The return of the Tuesday video. I was getting worried
Right now I have been listening to a lot of Yosi Hirokowa. He mixes a lot of natural sound samples with electronic. It’s hard to explain, but it sounds very cool! I’m not sure if it is available on vinyl or only CD and digital though.
Hell yea MBV! Great picks!
