The Maremmano-Abruzzese Sheepdog also known as Maremma Sheepdog is an Italian breed of livestock guardian dog. It is indigenous to Central Italy, especially to the Maremma region of Tuscany and Lazio, and to northern areas of Southern Italy, particularly to Abruzzo. It has been used for centuries by Italian shepherds to guard sheep from wolves. The "Maremmano" name derives from that of the Maremma marshlands where, until recently, shepherds, dogs and hundreds of thousands of sheep over-wintered, and where the dogs are still abundant although sheep-farming has decreased substantially.

My family used to have one he was literally the best! Only thing is is we are the only one out of his brothers and sisters that didn't end up needing to get him put down so make sure you have proper care land and you know what you're doing and the people around you coming in your house know how to act etc he loved people and playful and a beautiful dog definitely would get another one! We were his flock and we were safe and loved!❤

We adopted a 7 month old last week. He was a rescue from a breeder who raised him to be a family dog inside his home but had bad to get rid of him due to neighbours complaining about so many Maremmas. So we took him and yeah, sure he growls and barks but only at what he perceives as a threat. He is learning quickly about what little threat there is. He is also great with kids and small pets and guess what? We live in a townhouse.
We walk him 2-3 times a day and he always has toys and bones. He is one of the happiest dogs I’ve met.
Just need to put time in.

You have a little mistake in your Video. A marremano Abruzzese is NOT a sheepdog !!! Its a livestock guard dog !! That is complete difference !! We are live near italy and we have 2 marremano since 7 years . When you go to the " maremannen " in Italy an you say sheepdog , they throw stones at you 😂😂😂😂😂
