I own a maremma I've had her since 12 weeks old she is now 8 months and has been very easy to train The best watch dog I have ever had and loves being inside I guess they all have their own personalities 😊

watched this with my maremma, we both enjoyed it. The most amazing and love filled breed of dog. When they are described as untrainable it's very unfair, what I found is that the proud and intelligent maremma quietly finds a way to fit into the lifestyle of your family and community. I live in a housing community in a regional area and the tenants are all either elderly or invalids in some way, my maremma is so aware of who is fragile and who is fit and greets them accordingly. She seems totally aware of her size and never leaps about and even wags her tail gently when indoors visiting a neighbour, it's so good to share your life with a dog that is welcomed happily everywhere you take her. Perhaps my girl is an exception to a rule but she hated living on a farm and since we've moved to a small country town she is so relaxed, content and friendly. I love my maremma.

They are trainable - with people who understand the Breed. Each Dog Breed is different - why are Australia’s Pounds & Rescue Groups overrun with Dogs that have been dumped iir abandoned. Most of the Pound Dogs are euthanised to make room for more Dogs that arrive daily/weekly Because people are stupid !!!!😡😡😡

I can definitely relate with you. Maremma Sheepdogs can live in dense communities if raised from little puppies and exposed to all kinds of humans and dogs - our neighbour Italian lady (his “nonna”) always has a treat for him. They're not very active dogs, but need to go out for long walks periodically; and let them sniff their way around to catch up on the latest neighbourhood news (very curious dogs). Despite their impressive size, they relate gently to all the members in the community; and as they are guardian dogs they protect the property and family from strangers. They can be trained for basic commands, but their smart and independent personalities make them extremely charming. It's more like raising a respectful child with his own personality, than a dog that simply obeys commands.
A true Roman personality (smart, independent, curious, protector, fierce, playful, regal, charming) that reflects the breed's origins when Rome lead the Western civilization.
We just can't love enough our Pastore Maremmano-Abruzzese boy!

Watching this with mine too, she is perfectly trained and the best house dog ever, we do live on the edge of a country town with bush all around us… 90% of the time she just lulls around and never does anything, she does guard very very well xo

They come from Mid-Southern Italy, not Northern. In fact the real name of the breed is pastore abruzzese-maremmano, referring to the Abruzzo region, while maremma was the general name of marshy areas near the sea (which is the reaso why in Tuscany there is a Maremma area too).
