my personal fav is kof 96 goenitz stage, previous arena now destroyed and engulfed by the wind, and those poor soul blown away in the background, its amazing
Holy hell, a total smorgasbord of my favorite FG content creators. I love the variety, how we went from camera talk to voice, to pngtuber, to vtuber to a full animation! I was hoping someone would mention the Port Town stage in FF3. It looks like a boring warehouse stage at first. Then the crane lifts the stage, and you ascend all the way up to get a tour of all of South Town, from the theme park, to the cities across the ocean. At the top, Cheng flies a helicopter up to watch your fight. The stage even lights up at night, and if you hit the opponent into the background, they have a unique sprite for grabbing the ledge. Also must give kudos to the under construction Sakazaki dojo in CVS1, Takuma yells at you in the background to stop breaking the stage, which falls apart with every knockdown. By the end, you can see the dojo is being built across from Ryu's stage in SFA1.
Port Town was _amazing_ for so many reasons. The dynamic aspects, the location immersion, the Jackie Chan references, SNK stage design in '96 was peak.
I love this massive get-together of fighting game content creators. Really brings together the "C" in FGC. But I'd also love to point out this is the first video I've seen your awesome fighting game and video game book collection. If I had a shelf like that I too would casually flex and just have it as my permanent background! 😄
Sonic the Fighters is one of my favorite fighting games of all time, and Aurora Icefield is one of if not my favorite stage of all time. The music, the fighters' reflections on the ice floor, the structures in the background, and the blue, yellow, and purple sky all combine to make it one of my favorites of all time
My favorite is Captain Americas from Marvel Super Heroes. A chaotic and dynamic site of the statue of liberty torn, only for Captain America and his badass theme to still be standing and fighting the good fight.
@@baberuthless I don't think it's referencing a comic in particular. Statue of Liberty's one of the most iconic landmarks of America and is a symbol of the nation, so it's fitting on a stage for someone who also symbolizes America.
Dudley's Stage from 3rd Strike holds the most nostalgia to me. My older brothers would play 3S on the dreamcast and I would watch them play all the time when I was a kid. Then 3S came out on the 15th anniversary I played with them on there, Online edition, then the SF collection, and now I see it mostly on Barcades and Fightcade as Dudley is one of my favorite characters to use in all of 3S and SF. His theme, the country, and his intro with him jumping out the car just fits so well. It's a stage I grew up with and I find the most nostalgia and comfort in (funny it being a fighting game and all) but there are other stages I can list from the Dreamcast era of fighting games but none holds more meaning to me other than Dudley's Stage. It's the best stage to fight like gentlemen in and to me it's just so iconic! Would love to be in one of these types of video if given the chance! Honestly your channel has great fighting game content I'm glad I found it out recently!
A really good video exploring different viewpoints of fighting games and what makes the highlights for the big names in the fighting game community. First time I've seen some of them and that K-Brad fella seems like he can spin a right good yarn. As ever, a good show.
Awesome video! I was a bit surprised that nobody mentioned Soul Calibur, BlazBlue, DJFFNY, or Smash. Still, the one I agree the most with is Matt McMuscles, and it's for a very simple reason: There were some impressive, beautiful and amazing stages shown here, but as soon as the video was over, the only game that I wanted to play, the one stage that I wanted to explore, was Garou: Mark of the Wolves' Live House. Still, great suggestions by everyone. This video was a blast!
One stage that I immediately fell in love with was the Forsaken Sanctuary from Soul Calibur 3. The combination of beautiful mythical architecture and ethereal colors creates such an intense first impression. The aqueducts and abundance of water that seems to be intrinsically tied to SC3's identity are loud and proud there. And the music...? Do yourself a favor and look it up if you never have. Simply epic. Soul Calibur 3 came out close along with Tekken 5, which many consider to be the era where Namco were absolute rockstars of the industry. As such, Forsaken Sanctuary is right up there with Moonlit Wilderness for me. Both are monuments from when Namco were on top of the world.
Loved this, seeing some old acquaintances come together to share their passion for the genre, and specially you miss bitten strawberry! Your content is really refreshing, to see how much you care for aspects of fighting games that aren't gameplay related (like frames and the such) but artistic and lore related, which is the stuff I myself like the most as well. Keep the good stuff coming.
I just wanted to say thank you for this video, it inspired me to get back into Tekken 8 and fighting games as a whole, which makes this year more enjoyable! 😊
My personal favorite has always been Hon-Fu's stage in Fatal Fury 3: Road to the Final Victory. While I love how the level is on a platform that gets lifted off the ground and into the air, that amazing view of the South Town skyline while you fight always felt like the right blend of 80s-90s action movie cheesiness that Fatal Fury was trying to achieve.
i like tabmok's choice to go with a stage that told a story. really makes me appreciate even more now that i know the context of the stage and makes it even more epic than just lone aesthetics.
I remember being absolutely enamored with Purgatorium the first time I saw it in BBCF. It seemed like a run of the mill underworld/hell type stage, but I was totally caught off guard when this giant tower just suddenly emerged from the background. It's this crazy mix between steampunk, skeletal limbs, and your standard medieval tower. On top of this, it serves as Nine the Phantom's home stage, and her theme works so well on top of the surrounding environment.
It's cool seeing all these FGC content creators in one video. Seeing people I haven't seen in a while. (Rubbish, Geoff the Hero, Stumblebee, K-Brad etc.) This was nice to watch and listen to what they like about their favorites. It gave me an appreciation on what these stages mean to people. Thank you for just making this collaboration happen, Baberuthless. Keep it up and Congrats on 10k subs
This is a question that took me a very long time to think about because there have been a lot of great and memorable stages. I personally did not have a favorite until the first time i played Tekken 5 and saw moonlit wilderness. That entire stage of just a field with a bright full moon is one of the prettiest stages I have ever seen and what makes it better is the song that is played throughout the fight. It's a fitting song with a beautiful stage that even if no one was fighting just sitting on the grass and looking up at the moon is just gorgeous.I have moonlit wilderness on my video game based playlist on Spotify and anytime i hear that song best believe i turn the volume up because it is such a banger. I don't have a lot of favorite things throughout my life but as far as fighting game stages go moonlit wilderness is an All timer for me.
My favorite stages have amazing music and ambiance. When you enter a stage you just feel something and the mood just hits right and sets the tone. If I had to choose a stage based on the above, it would be hard but a few in my mind are Dead Pool from MK2, NYC from CVS2, Akumas stage from 3rd Strike, and Moonlit Wilderness from Tekken 5. Thank you for this amazing video and crossover.
kof 95 is full of god tier stages. my pick is rivals team abandoned factory stage. if only the hardware was capable of doing the forehround steam in proper transparency then it would be perfection.
Incredible video :) I can't even decide in what is my favorite stage, but its probably from Last Blade (Lee Reka or Amano)... Or KoF 95 (Iori or Kim or King) Maybe Art of Fighting 3(Siesta Café or Train Yard)🤔
I have so many to mention but when it comes down to it, Sieger's stage from Samurai Showdown 2 is my favorite! You're fighting in a courtyard with the Prosia Kingdom Knights watching- The lightning in the background is super intense and there some old guy sittin in a huge chair with a ferocious lion head on top- SUPER EPIC MUSIC TO MATCH 😀
Ken's Alpha 2 stage is good for sure! And I would have that as my pick, But, I really like the pocket fighter stages, especially the snow stage. They have soo much personality and different things going on in the background. But anyway, this, THIS video right here, is an AMAZING video Baberuthless!! Good Collabs, and I know that takes alot of work to get everyone involved. You've also been steadily putting out some nice videos over time, and they have been great! Please, keep em coming and keep up the good work!!
Even though the game is unorthodox from a fgc standpoint I think K-Brad's selection of Power Stone 2 airship stage wins it for me. The dynamism, stage transitions + high tier jrpg soundtrack makes it an absolute classic
Here is my favorite Fighting Game Stage of all time. Kaminoi Castle - Sakura-Dai Gate - from Soulcalibur II. The phenomenal music track that plays on this stage, Brave Sword, Braver Soul, absolutely catches the essence of the SoulCalibur series and the fights on the stage itself. I also love the background with the sunset, the grassy hills in the distance, and the blossom petals. Additionally, the color palette for Kaminoi Castle is simultaneously both colorful and a bit muted. It gives off this grand battle vibe, and I love it!
Best stage without a doubt has to be the Kof 96 sub-boss stage. It’s really cool to fight some of SNK’s biggest baddies on a moving boat through the water.
I really like the Rick and Morty stage in multiversus it’s based off the episode get Schwifty (and the ost is a orchestral version of the song of the same name)
After watching this I think I've realized which fighting game stage is my all time favorite and that has to be Hidden Leaf Gate at Night from Naruto Clash of Ninja 2. That stage not only looks really pretty with the night time aesthetic with the cherry blossoms but the music on it made it feel like a sparring match or a party whenever my brothers and cousins would play together on it. It's such a chill and vibey arena to fight and Naruto Clash of Ninja is one of my all time favorite fighting games
My personal favorite stage is jyurakudai villa from soulcalibur 3 because it's beautiful, with the cherry blossoms in the moonlight, & the lit platform you're fighting on meshes well to make such a great ambiance that just soothes the soul, at least for me personally. It is a perfect place to battle. Honorable mention goes to kaminoi Castle - sakura-dai gate from soulcalibur 2 for similar reasons, but also my favorite song in sc2, brave sword, braver soul, is there.
Oh and Shun's stage in Virtua Fighter 2! You're riding a raft down some chinese river and it passes under various bridges. Wolverine's Stage in Marvel Super Heroes is another I just had to mention- You start off fighting on a bridge over a waterfall. If the bridge gets enough damage, it will then get destroyed and now the fight will be going on while traveling down some white water rapids!
Too bad nobody picked any Blazblue stages, love those in particular. I think my favorite is probably Rail Station for how background characters get off the tram as the fight goes on and fill up the platform with life. And beyond that the scenery is just super evocative. Mad props to Cathedral though. When I found out the character sprites were reflected on the floor to indicate how clean it was for the first time, my mind was blown. The version with all the NOL soldiers waiting for their moment to step in is my favorite.
My picks would probably be Field of Fate (SFV) & Abandoned Pool (LL Blaze). Field of Fate is such an excellent recreation & encapsulates the highs of SFV's art direction. As for Abandoned Pool, I just really love the contrast of an empty pool & an INTENSE STORM breaking out once the ball reaches high speed. Honorable mention to Chamber of Artifact (MK Deception) as a nostalgia pick. I could've sworn it looked more green in my memory, though.
I’m happy Tower of Arrogance made it to this list. The stage's bgm is definitely one of Vampire Savior’s best. Gonna have to give love to Akuma’s Killing Moon from Third Strike, Cammy’s stage from Alpha 3, as well as Iron Horse Iron Terror’s stage from Vampire Savior.
my fav stage is king george island from tekken 1 something about the low resolution icebergs lifted from real photos, low poly count, blue-gradient sky, and music gives off an otherworldy ethereal relaxing feeling i put this stage on in the background when im falling asleep sometimes
I would say my own favourite is definitely Moonlight Castle, from BlazBlue Centralfiction. It is one of those stages that always stood out to me when I was starting to get more into fighting games, and it still does now. I love how the dark background contrasts with the bright red roses, especially with how pretty and well animated it all is as the characters move about. I am also just naturally partial to gothic themes and aesthetics.
My favorite is definitely Spiral’s Stage from X-Men: Children of the Atom, also known as Mojo World. It has a bizarre vibe to it and I like that you can break the floor. And the theme gives a sense of danger, but you’re also in a dream at the same time. Definitely my favorite stage of all time
There's a lot that makes a stage great. The atmosphere, background design, the stage matching the fighter it's home to, and the theme has to be a banger. Not one stages fits all of this than Rose's stage from Street Fighter Alpha 3. The astrology room fits her possession as a fortune teller. The building on the right side matches she's from Greece. And the theme is great makes her feel like a boss. It's the best theme I constantly replay more than any other stage. So it's my personal favorite.
@@baberuthless stage music is very important. its just as important as the stage presentation itself. To be fair almost everything in SFA3 is a sleeper for the best video game soundtrack of all time. Having that stage in SF6 would be awesome but they did kind of ruined it when they brought Rose in SF5. Using her stage and theme from SFA2. Which is ok, it's just not the Alpha 3 stage. That like me asking for a Big Mac from McDonalds and you bring me a McDouble, which is fine but its not what I wanted. but only a man can dream.
It would be impossible for me to decide one most favourite stage. But if in terms of love at first sight, it's Super Street Fighter 2 Cammy stage that I was most amazed upon first seeing it even though I wasn't sure what's that in the sky waving. 😅
Many of my favorite stages in FGs come from 3 games: Tekken 4 and Capcom VS SNK 1 and 2. My favorites of them being T4's Statue, Rooftop, Mall and Airport. And CVS1's Car Wreck, Back Alley, Arcade, and Eclipse. And CVS2's Osaka on Fire, Rainy Rooftop, and Kinderdijk. Then a bonus stage I like is Moonlit Wilderness. I've noticed a theme with my favorite stages. They are devoid of other people, and eerie or tranquil. I have some other picks, but I removed them since I realized I only liked the music lol.
I haven't played The Last Blade, but I did download the Fire at the Wadamoya stage for Mugen and thought this was the dopest shit ever so while I haven't thought of which stage is my favorite ever I think that one just immediately rises to the top ten. It's such a simple idea executed so well. Anybody could make a stage that's like "a building on fire" and I would be surprised if they hadn't again but very few could do it THIS good.
I love so many fighting game stages, but after watching this video I realized I have no idea what my absolute favorite stage is. Now I need to think for some time what would be my answer! 🤔
I think the coolest person you got in this video is that lovely lady at the end. She seems fun to hang out with. I should check out her content.
SO true
aww shucks
Congrats on this epic video. Love that you brought the FGC together like this.
Never thought I'd see the day I was sandwiched between KingJae and Diaphone, but here we are.

I really enjoyed Rubbish's segment with SFA3 / The Road, haha. (That song rules)
Rubbish's vids are absolutely legendary
OK I had no idea who Rubbish was beforehand but I was absolutely blown away by how good his segment looked.

Greact choice i love the SC4 version of that stage too! coverd in snow it looks so pretty
@@baberuthless I forgot that soulcalibur 4 had a snow version! I love that one so much too!
Still mad at Thorgi for cutting Yoshi from the Smash roster, but it's good to see him regardless
Yeah that was a shocking decision and everybody and their grandmother knows that yoshi is mainstay and Sakuri would never cut him
It had to be done
Oh and Shun's stage in Virtua Fighter 2! You're riding a raft down some chinese river and it passes under various bridges. Wolverine's Stage in Marvel Super Heroes is another I just had to mention-
You start off fighting on a bridge over a waterfall. If the bridge gets enough damage, it will then get destroyed and now the fight will be going on while traveling down some white water rapids!
Best video I've watched all week! Thank you! 😊
Amazing video!
All great ones! Cammys in particular is a personal fave 😊
"Iron Horse, Iron Terror" is my go-to colloquial phrase for "trains being late/cancelled." ^_^
WOW. What an incredible line up 😮 amazing
What a cool video! I have to agree with JWong, CVS 2's London is great, and the song just slaps so hard.
my fav stage is king george island from tekken 1
something about the low resolution icebergs lifted from real photos, low poly count, blue-gradient sky, and music gives off an otherworldy ethereal relaxing feeling
i put this stage on in the background when im falling asleep sometimes
Its a very nice peaceful song in a very nice stage
Definitely my favorite stage of all time
And free falling and being able to fight was so damn cool
There's a lot that makes a stage great. The atmosphere, background design, the stage matching the fighter it's home to, and the theme has to be a banger. Not one stages fits all of this than Rose's stage from Street Fighter Alpha 3. The astrology room fits her possession as a fortune teller. The building on the right side matches she's from Greece. And the theme is great makes her feel like a boss. It's the best theme I constantly replay more than any other stage. So it's my personal favorite.
That is absolutely a banger! I wish they would bring it back in sf6 in some way
@@baberuthless stage music is very important. its just as important as the stage presentation itself.
Honorable mentions:
Final Destination from Smash Bros. Melee
Tiger Dojo from Tekken 3
Ostrheinsburg Chapel from Soul Calibur II
Airship from Marvel 2
This Vvdeo is awesome. you should have 10X you subscriber count. I am always glad to see your vid in my feed.
Thank you!
matt mcmuscles and woolievs finally collaborating
I'm a simple man. Any stage that is a market, temple, or ring, I love lmao
I love when Stage is not just a background instead I prefer them to be interactive with combat like Mortal Kombat Armageddon stage fatalities
I love that too! I need more stages that can change a matches outcome
Just saw you on the latest Kombat Kings you were awesome just subscribed to the channel ^__^
Thank you so much! That podcast was so fun 😁
@@baberuthless It was an amazing episode ^__^ typical though that the Ermac trailer dropped like 10 minutes after it was uploaded 😂
