Because you unintentionally switched sides at the end of the video I was comparing the watches wisually thinking: Ok, Rolex case and bracelet do look slightly better, bezel's crispier etc. Then I realized I was looking at the SD...many things are in our heads, price difference is absurd, I'd be going for the SD if I ever desired a submariner design.
Can’t beat a Steeldive over a Rolex for value for money. Plus you don’t have to be so ‘precious’ with it. It’s a great ‘stunt watch’ for when you don’t want to get your Rolex trashed in extreme sports/work or whatever. I don’t have a Rolex, by the way. There is no way I will ever be able to own one… but I have 2 Steeldive, one which has been around the world with me. All the best👍🏾😉🇬🇧
and if you had bought a Rolex, you could not have made that world trip! They are a pure waste of money nowadays, after starting out as a somewhat more pricey, but still affordable "once in a life for Xmas" tool-watch for any busy worker. Until James Bond wore them, that is when the madness slowly started.
When I saw this UA-cam clip. OMG I also do own them both. The quality and feel of the SD1953 is almost Identical with the ROLEX submariner. I wear my SD watch everyday and I wear my Rolex Sub on special occassions. How amazing it's not only me who are thinking and doing the same😂
I think you got a few facts mixed up there. The Steeldive is all 316L Stainless, which is harder than 904L (Rolex 'oyster steel') but doesn't polish up with quite the same lustre. It's a bit less 'blingy'.. I agree that the Steeldive cyclops appears to over magnify - this is apparently due to the rehaut being taller and hence holding the magnifier further away. I would never spend the money on a Rolex but I do love the design and style of the Submariner. Hence, a 'homage' watch is ideal for me. I've owned my SD1953 for a few months now and I absolutely love it
Agree. I swapped the crystals on my 1953 to no cyclops. I've also swapped some bezel inserts to make them more custom while I had the crystals out. For the money, the SD1953 is the way to go.
I like how Rolex dial is so close to the glass. I like how big indexes are on Rolex. But the value for money on Steeldive is insane.. It is 58eur on Ali right now..
The movement is far superior on the Rolex. I have owned my Sub 16613 since 1998 and can attest to the robustness of that famous cal. 3135 movement. HOWEVER...I also spent $1100 in maintenance fees for that movement, from Bucherer (Rolex owned boutique), about 2 years ago. These Steeldive watches are terrific everyday tool watches. If the movement ever needs maintenance...then a simple replacement of the NH35 (for $50) is all that is required. My SD1953 (or SD1964, or 1957, or 1970, or 1975XP) will never replace my Rolex, for sure. However, I will not be wearing my Rolex as an everyday tool watch, either.
Nice review. My son bought me SD1964 (slightly different from this one) for my birthday. It is crazy how many people asked me about this watch on my wrist. It is really cool and good looking... so my full recommendation for SteelDive's ANY model.
Thank you for sharing this comparison. the Rolex costs 10,000 and the Steldive 100. I always look at what I get for my money. I look at the price-quality ratio. I have a Rolex sub and a Steel dive (sub), but I think the ST is better in terms of price-quality ratio.
Nice review. I bought a steel Dive Tuna SD1975 and I was impressed with the quality so I ordered another Steel Dive SD 1953 and I must say its phenomenal. Pictures don't do them justice you need to buy one and see for yourself. If you can't afford the pricey Rolex then Steel Dive is the option. My next Steel Dive will be SD 1953 Grey on jubilee bracelet
The Rolex is definitely more refined, quality wise the movement and finishing. Is it $13900. Better that’s up to you to decide. I have 3 steeldive and for the money not many watches can touch them.
If I'm not mistaken, the Steeldive has the NH35A movement and therefore has a taller case, which is a major consideration for those who, like myself, have smaller wrists, and is the main reason I bought the Invicta 9937OB Pro Diver with the Swiss Sellita-200 movement instead. That said, I'm very impressed with the SD 1953, and haven't ruled out the possibility of buying one in the future. ☮
Thank YOU for this Awesome video! I bought a "Starbucks" 1953 and after I noticed the quality, I bought two more, a black one like yours too. You just cannot beat the quality for the money you get with the Steeldive. The lume is magnificent as well. Win-win all around! 💥🏆🏆🏆
Yeah , nice review . Really why would anyone drop $14900 more for what is basically the same watch . Of course you could get right down to fine details many if which are inside the case & can't be seen but you could own an amazingly huge watch collection for even a fraction of the cost . If that collection all had seiko movements & you wore them on rotation they would outlast you 😅😅 . Cheers
@@justmeeagainn you fully bought into the Rolex Marketing BS didn't you? Totally suckered by the desire to own the brand. Do you really need a $15K watch to feel good about yourself?? I'd rather have a few cheap watches that I can wear as I please and not worry about them. I'd also rather spend the other £14.8K on something more tangible than a brand name.... 😇
I have the Invicta version. I'm less than thrilled with it, but I am fairly happy with it. I only wish they hadn't put "Invicta" on the case. I'm thinking about rolling it into a secondary roll and getting this Steeldive for daily wear. It's just a bit more classy in my opinion. Thanks for the comparison. Good video.
I would love to rob your Steeldive 😝 But kudos to you and your open minded way of thinking instead of being a snob. Wear your watches in good health sir!
The date on the Steeldive is comically over magnified and totally ruins the dial view. For that reason mainly, I will never buy one. I'd very much rather get the Invicta Pro Diver. Nice review, I enjoyed it and liked 👍🏼
*I got the Rolex version just for $30, same spec as PaganiDesign… They said the production cost is about $10~15 (fake Rolex/PaganiDesign/SteelDive). They should get a brand for the watch to not violate the law. But i believe they are from the same factory.*
nobody said it was a perfect copy. It's a homage. No lume pip and the bezel markers aren't slightly recessed either. However, the Bezel IS fully lumed with BGW9 which is a nice difference to the Rolex IMO
...and during day-to-day wearing, no body will ever tell. I had a Rolex wearer compliment me on my choice of watches before he even knew it was a Steeldive homage....

Steeldive are a high quality very affordable tool Watch . Far more value for money than the Rolex which is grossly over priced . The video is a little boring - not much info other than the image / video .
Let's hear you justify the price difference between the two watches.......there is no way that some of these luxury watches can justify their huge prices by difference in quality because in reality there is not that much difference. The only reason rolex and other luxury watches are so expensive is the name printed on the dial.........and yes I have owned expensive watches in the past. The main consideration for buying a luxury watch such as a rolex in my opinion is the fact that you won't lose money on it and in some cases will gain so it becomes an investment. How much difference in cost of the materials used in the construction do you think there is between the rolex and steeldive........hardly anything at all so where is the nearly 15,000 dollar difference,it's laughable. That question is aimed at Peter and just to clarify I do not hate rolex watches and have often thought about purchasing one for myself.

@n1xCS it has scratches on the case, but the glass is sapphire, so it remains flawless. Scratches gives your watch character.
