@Weiru Jean We'll see how "well" prepared we were, when we have time to analyse it. I don't wanna imagine what would have happened if Germany would have been the first EU country with high invections and not Italy. We already had 2013 a pandemic study which showed most of the consequences we see now, but no real actions were taken so we still have a shortage on face masks, sanitizer,etc. Also in the first infection wave mostly young people were infected, cause they were out in the carnival or in the ski resorts, so less lethal cases.

Those trying to send everyone back to work are disgusting. My partner and I are in our forties and in the at risk category. Not from bad health or terminal diseases but due to manageable conditions but some asshole afraid of losing money (and I mean the government not the workers) could be responsible for killing us because you wouldn’t listen to the experts or people with a conscience. My five year old nephew, also at risk, my sister with a heart condition too. Never mind the fact that in the same family are key workers who are already putting themselves in danger so we don’t have to. And we are just one family.

Stevie McLeish 🌟🌟🌟 If you’ve got a “rainy day fund” you may be just fine. ~~~ I think people are scared they will run out of $ before they get “emergency $” ~~~ I heard that 40% of Americans DON’T HAVE even an extra $400 for emergencies ~~~ soooo many are living paycheck to paycheck. ~~~ Also people looking after a baby or frail parents or “special needs” family members may need supplies ASAP (diapers, asthma inhalers, etc.) & have lost ability to make $ ASAP & are forced to wait for this government check to buy supplies, & don’t know when they will get it.~~~~~~~ Also I’m guessing Government $ will only go to people who have last years tax records, which might mean undocumented workers, homeless or anyone that worked “under the table” might not get any $. ~~~~~~~ & I’m also worried people will abandon pets to save $. ~~~~~ Just my opinion, hope we will all be ok. ~~~~~~~ I’m guessing that there will be huge Gratitude for everything people may have in their lives that supports or loves them. ~~~~~~~~ And then there’s people addicted to heroine, or who just want to stay drunk as alcoholics or are clinically depressed or suicidal who may not get support. ~~~~~ And people in abusive relationships can’t easily leave their houses with their kids or pets.... &.... who knows what else. ~~~~~~~ I think this will be a big “shake up” that will make obvious the weaknesses or dysfunctions that are in society. ~~~~~~~ All the best to all of us. The UK’s figures aren’t remotely accurate because people are only being tested in hospital. (Well, unless you’re the heir to the throne and his wife, who didn’t even have fucking symptoms.) There are way more than 11,000 cases here. Only 104,866 people have been tested in total out of 66 million.
And of course the US is going to have more cases overall - you have a population of 330 million; we have 66 million. It doesn’t take a genius to work out.
