He is not only worshipped but a huge chariot or procession is held in his honour every year in Nepal. Its called Indra Jatra and that day is a holiday in the capital city too.

We here in Nepal the newar community celebrate Indra Jatra on the month of September mostly according to the lunar calendar. It's celebrated for 8 days where many dances and chariots shows are done. Even dashavatar of bishnu makes an appearance and the lakheys( a demon who is devoted to god) and pulunkisi( airawat) roam the city streets in search of Indra.
The story of Indrajatra begins when -----
Indra’s mother needed parijat, a type of flower, for some religious ritual so Indra disguised as a human being came to the earth to fetch them. But, he was recognized when he was to steal the flowers so the people caught him and tied him with ropes. The statue of which is still worshipped in Maru Tole in Kathmandu. This image is also put on display with others in different parts of the city during Indra Jatra festival.
Indra Jatra is a very interesting festival because for the whole week people enjoy various traditional dances and witness the chariot of Goddess Kumari, Lord Ganesh and Lord Bhairav being pulled through the older parts of the Kathmandu city. A day has been added to the original seven days of celebration and on that day known as Nanicha yaa the chariots are pulled through Naradevi, Nhyokha, Ason, Indrachwok and Hanuman Dhoka. This extra day of chariot pulling was introduced by King Jaya Prakash Malla in 1765 B.S.
In Indra Chowk, the famous Akash Bhairava bust is displayed and it is decorated with flowers. This Akash Bhairava’s head is related to the Mahabharata story. Some believe it to be the head of the first Kirat King Yalamber. In Indra Chowk, every night different groups gather and sing bhajans and hymns.
During Indra Jatra, there are a variety of performances including the dances of Sawa Bhakku Bhairav from Halchowk, Majipa Lakhey from Majipat, Devi Nach and Yeravat hathi (Pulukisi) from Naradevi, Mahakali and Kathi Maka Nach from Bhaktapur. All the dances take place around Hanuman Dhoka area. The Dasavatar or the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu is also staged every night.
The first day of the festival is also observed by the Newars as a day to remember the family members who died during the past year by offering small oil lamps along a traditional route covering all the parts of the old city. It is believed to have been started during the reign of Mahendra Malla.
The Linga (Yasingh) is pulled down signalling the end of Indra Jatra festival. It is taken to the confluence of Bagmati and Bishnumati in Teku to be put to rest.
The end of the Indra Jatra festival heralds the beginning of Dashain and Tihar celebrated with great enthusiasm not only in the Kathmandu Valley but throughout the country.
We don't necessarily worship Indra, we celebrate capturing him as a thief and bargain with his mother for his return
Indra or Indra Dev is King Of God/Godess and Shachi is Queen of God/Godess. That's why King cannot be worshipped. That's Why Hinduism in Nepal and Hinduism In India (Bharat/Hindustan) is different. Tantra and Mantra are two different things. Sanatani , Puroshotam and Tantric are different. Indra even punished Hanuman for his mischief in the Galaxy. Hindustan was made by Musalmann(Mughal). Bharat was made by non-muslim known as Hindu. Hindu is an Arabic Word but beurocrats and diplomats changed it according to time and called it religion.

I worship Indra as god and he is the only one. I am sorry but I don't agree with any of the stories. Since, I have freedom of expression and speech, I would want to say one thing. I worship Indra according to Rig Vedas.

Indra seems like an ancient God like Zeus in Greek mythology, Thor in Norse, Jupiter in Roman myth. But most of the people stopped following him after the introduction of more powerful God.

In kathmandu valley of Nepal, we Newar community worship God Indra for one whole week once a year almost two weeks before dashahara starts... It is celebrated as Indra Jatra.
A total of 255 hymns from 1028 of Rigveda are solely dedicated in the praise and worship of Indra. He is the most important God in the Vedic tradition. Other Gods became prominent only in puranic tradition which came much later. To understand this development you need much more than research on social media.

There is a misconception about Ahalya being wrongly punished. The truth is that Ahalya gets to know that it was Indra and not her husband while having intercourse with him, but she chooses not to stop as she was so consumed by desire that she could not resist him. When Gautam rishi asks as to why she did not push Indra away when she got to know, she acknowledges her mistake and confesses that she got carried away by the lust and ecstasy. Gautam rishi curses her saying "since you chose to behave like stone when he (Indra) was having his way with you, may you remain indeed a stone until you are purified by the touch of the lotus feet of Shri Hari" and then he turns to Indra and curses him as well saying "Since you are so obsessed by the sight of the female genitals, may you bear thousands of them all over your body". Once cursed, Indra gets thousands of vulva on his body with each one oozing the menstrual blood. Indra then begs for forgiveness and but Gautam rishi says he has already cursed him and it cannot be undone, but advises him to do penance to convert them all to eyes. That's how Indra gets a body with full of eyes. There is temple in a village called Sucheendram in Tamilnadu. It is believed that this place is where Indra did the penance and got the thousand vulva converted into eyes.

Lord Indra controls the mind which governs all the Karmendriyas and Jnanendriyas i.e. organs of action & perception.

you are incorrect! "Indra" is not a deity but a title given to a deity.. Indra has always been worshipped in Hinduism. It's just that most people nowadays do not know the procedure of worshipping Indra in India, that's why he is rarely worshipped. In Nepal we celebrate Indra-jatra and we also worship ourselves as worshipping our inner god as "Mha puja" at 4th day of dipawali mostly followed by the Newar community not the whole country.

I think Indra dev did it right because karn got an unfair advantage of vest and armour which he didn't earn through any practice or hardwork......So by taking that out.....the fight became fair and whoever worked hard and be more worthy would win....

1. Karna gave up his kavach kundal, even though his biological father (Sun) warned him about it, in return for Astra from Indra to defeat Arjuna, so it was not a "daan" it was a transaction. He was not able to win against Arjuna, Both fought many times before the war and in the war, and he never was able to defeat Arjuna. (e.g. Virat war). So he gave up his Kavach Kundal for more Powerful Astras.
2. Ahalya knew Indra had come in disguise as her husband but she could not resist him as he was the King of Gods. Gautama Maharishi did not curse her to be converted into stone. When Lord Ram asked Sage Vishwamitra who lives in the Dormant hut? he replied, "Dev rupi sanyasini" and he asked, Lord Ram and Laxman to touch her feet, and take her blessing. Afterward, Gautama Maharishi accepted her.
