Trigger is his guitar. It almost was auctioned off in 1991 and Willie said he'd quit. Fortunately Trigger wasn't auctioned off. Been on the road with Willie since 1969. 🤙🏼
The IRS was confiscating his property and he barely managed to have someone get his guitar for him before the government got a hold of it to pay back taxes.
Willie Nelson is a legend and treasure. His son Lukas is equally talented; his singing voice is very similar and he's a wonderful guitarist and songwriter, who wrote "In the Shallow"
@@Thor_7577 hank 3 is a joke so is shooter jennings..those 2 are trying to make it off the name, lukas however is doing his own thing while paying homage to his dad.. I've seen all 3 in concert at one time or another and you couldn't pay me to go watch hank 3 or shooter again
In the 90's there was a group called The Highwaymen. It was Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson and Waylon Jennings. Look them up. They toured for several years singing all their hits. Willie is the only one left as Kris just passed this year. This group is amazing, look them up think you might like them.
His little Sister is playing piano & yes his guitar playing is unique as his style of singing. You will notice he always sings a bit behind the beat,I had the pleasure of shaking his Royal hand🎼
What Willie has is the authenticity and humble honesty to his music and it pours... Pours from his voice. Rare soul and everyone can feel it, if you listen.
Great reaction! Willie is one of the very few artists that transcends all genres. He's a national treasure, and we will never see another artist influence music as much as he has. Keep the country reactions coming, brother.
That is Willie's sister on the piano. She passed 2022 at the age of 91. Check out "Ride Me Back Home", "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys", "Red-Headed Stranger", "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain", "Waltz Across Texas". The list is endless.
😊Willie always brings back warm memories of my father when I hear him sing. Grew up with my father playing guitar while listening to Willie almost every night.
My Mom loved Willie and saw him many times in concert. Thanks for your reaction! Willie and Dolly are what the angels will sound like when we get to Heaven!
Been a Willie fan since the 1970's. Seen him live at least 5 times. If you like this one you should check out Leon Russell "A Song for You". Leon also had a unique voice, was a great songwriter and piano player.
a great singer sings some great songs "Angel Flying To Close To The Ground, Loving You Is Easier, the live versions with the Highwaymen are absolutely brilliant
Krizz: the lyrics of this song have ALWAYS MELTED MY HEART!! ....ADD WILLIE'S VOCALS & GUITAR work...and, Bobbie Nelson's piano stylings: YOU CANNOT BEAT THIS ONE!!! Thanks for reacting to this one! LOVE MY OUTLAW COUNTRY MEMORIES!!! ENJOY!! Hugs from TEXAS!!
Krizz is a true musician, enjoying music from across all genres and not just one genre..that's what makes an artist so likeable and relatable ..while i grew up with willie nelson , johnny cash, merle haggard, george jones and those people of the "outlaw" country music era i also grew up with lynyrd skynyrd, the doors, pink Floyd, the doobie brothers, and ac/dc..with all of that music in my youth i also enjoyed gangster rap from people like EZ E, Snoop,n.w.a, tupac, and old Dr. Dre...basically what i am saying is don't let life confine you into a box , be who you are and enjoy it

The first time I heard this song was by Elvis. Thought it the most beautiful song I’d ever heard. Didn’t know Willie wrote it. Got to listen to Elvis version.
Krizz kalako thanks for this review of Willie. In addition to all of his beautiful incredible songs-- Willie is a true humanitarian I think God has. Guardian Angels here on earth for us and I believe Willie is at the top of the list and Dolly. Parton -- Willie has done great things for the farmers and individual people that he receives no recognition for --krizz if you haven’t met. I'm 71 so back in the day when we finally got a tv the station went off at 12pm to either Willie Nelson, Ray Charles singing. I'll never forget it❤❤❤❤❤❤ thanks for sharing
I saw Willie Nelson live back in the 90s in Las Vegas it was an outdoor concert and it was magical. i’m so glad I got to see this national treasure I’m not normally a country music fan.❤️✌️🌼
Willie had 2 albums of Frank Sinatra style songs, MY WAY and STARDUST!!! Both beyond excellent!!! TWO MEN WITH THE BLUES has Wynton Marsalis and Willie doing all kinds of good stuff!!! LET’S FACE THE MUSIC AND DANCE has oldies but goodies!!! Need to listen to some of these, even on your own time, Willie was a Renaissance man. His voice suits all kinds of music!!!
Wille doesnt have the greatest voice but his sincerity and raw honesty always made up for that often hitting like an emotional sledgehammer to the heart
The greatest Legend that Still is Alive, Legendary Singer and Writer. Wrote "Crazy for Patsy Cline" in the Late 50's begin 60's, one of the Last Cowboy/Storytelling Singers with his Guitar "Trigger". [many time got repairs [also on you tube]] .
Willie Nelson is legendary - not just in what he sang but his songwriting (i.e. he wrote Patsy Cline's "Crazy" among scores of other songs). Willie Nelson was also one of the supergroup The Highwaymen which included Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson. Home Free's song "Remember My Name" references Willie Nelson.
True, Willie is a most excellent guitarist. "Angel flying too close to the ground" is a good song which showcases some good licks on the guitar and a great one to react to. Whiskey River would be another one.
I love watching you get closer to the classics and giving your thoughts and ideas on them. I also love when you start harmonizing with them. You have a beautiful voice! Keep doing what you do! Merry Christmas to you and your family!!
100% Agree about Willie's guitar playing and him not getting enough credit. He is an incredibly soulful picker with a very Spanish-influenced style and some serious tone.
One of Willie's great gifts to us besides his music is his son Lukas. You should check him out, he will make sure Willies music lives on and besides a voice that sounds just like his dads Lukas and his band are awesome talents
Love your voice, by the way. This song is an ode to the quiet way that men love women. While they are away and pulling long hours. Good men. True men. Long-time couples know how it is some years. Always make the last words spoken, be full of kindness every day.
I first saw you when you did the first reactions with Black Pegasus... I am glad he talked you into doing them on your own, too... it is fun to watch you 'get it'... 😀
I love Willy’s so much. Since you enjoy his music you might want to watch a movie he stared in with Diane Cannon called Honeysuckle Rose. So much good music and when he & Diane sing together it’s beautiful 😍 2 songs I especially loved were Angel Flying To Close To The Ground & blue Eyes Crying in the Rain 🥰
Willie didn't write this song, but he owns it with his style. As you can see, he can play the guitar and does play it well. He played with Waylon Jennings for years. Willie has written hundreds of good songs my friend. Look for his Martin N-20 guitar that he calls "Trigger". If Willie wants to shred a guitar and he can, he'll put Trigger away because it has holes worn thru the body by his pick. He loves Trigger and when Trigger is gone Wille will stop playing! Those are Willie's words. He loves that tone.

I agree with you about Willie Nelson as a guitar player. There are lots of shredders. But I always find Willie's solos *interesting*. They're melodic. They're not fast and complex, but they're beautiful.
Willie is a great songwriter, singer and a very skilled guitar player, a real poet ! You need to listen to Stardust !! The entire album is a masterpiece .
Merry Christmas! Might I suggest "Pretty Paper" by Willie for the holidays! Speaking of playing a guitar, Willie usually played a half beat behind! You sounded really good harmonizing with Willie! You brought up the relationship between you and your wife and how you overcame things and stayed together so I suggest "Never Been Over" duet with Darius Rucker (Hootie) and Jennifer Nettles! My grandfather used to sing me "Blue Eyes Cryin' In The Rain".
Absolutely love ❤️
Blue eyes crying in the rain
Listen to Bing Crosby singing "Silver Threads Among the Gold" and then "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain"...
Willie is a National Treasure. A true legend and one of the nicest people I have ever met.❤❤❤
Your right. He's an awesome guitar player.
Kindly suggest that you give "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain" a listen. Also listen to the supergroup The Highwaymen.
Love this version! So simple and sweet. I think you would love Willies-Angel flying to close to the ground.
On The Road Again has been my favorite track since I was 4 back in 85
I agree that Willie is underrated as a guitar player. He has a simple, but extremely melodic style, and gets a great tone from those nylon strings.
His little Sister is playing piano & yes his guitar playing is unique as his style of singing. You will notice he always sings a bit behind the beat,I had the pleasure of shaking his Royal hand🎼

Yeah, his voice isn't great, but the feeling that comes from it is.
Willie. One of the last true cowboys. Love you willie!❤ Thank you Krizz
This is my favorite song of his. It's on my daily play list
Willie has always had his own distinct style of playing and singing . He’s a 90 year old legend still doing shows and a well known weed smoker 😜👵🏼💙☮️

Such a great song with some great covers, including Elvis. I love this journey back to the classics. I have joined and so thankful for your channel.
Elvis actually recorded it 10 years before Willie.
Angels too close to the ground is a really beautiful Willie Nelson song
First recorded by Brenda Lee but released by Gwen McCregor before Brenda. Elvis made the song big in 1972 and Willie a decade later.
