- My week as a work-from-home bookkeeper (I got audited!) What does a bookkeeper do? This is a week in my life (DITL or WITL of a bookkeeper) where I am getting ready for an internal audit. I prepare financial statements, search for receipts, look through paperwork and create a Google Drive with financial reports. Overall the audit went well!

Have you ever been through an audit as a bookkeeper?
I do bookkeeping for a healthcare business that has 18 group homes. I get audited twice per year. They select a few of our homes and the main office to audit. It can be full-scope or limited-scope. I never know which it will be. It's a stressful time for me because I have to pull every paper receipt, scan, and email to the auditors.
Yes, many times. I take them as learning experience.

I would recommend that all teacher reimbursements request online reimbursement forms with receipts before paying the teacher.
