  • Irene seems long out fashion as an English name, but swap the "e"s and "i"s and we're back in exotic territory.
Best I can quickly locate lyric-wise is this rough transcription/transliteration. Sure someone is much faster than myself at putting this back into Greek characters.

It's a westernized cover of a Greek traditional folk song (originally from Tilos island). The lyrics are about a girl, named Irene (Eri or Erini, both versions are used in the song). The singer asks Erini "where have you been in the morning, where have you been at noon, where have you been during sunset time", implying that Erini didn't show up because she was fooling around with guys all day long. Then, as an advice, the lyrics go: "I'm going to tell you one thing Erini, and may Virgin Mary judge me. You should find just one man, one nice young guy, because if you keep going on like that, not even Lias the Dopey will agree to marry you".

Same to you - thanks for the proper Ειρήνη spelling!
"Irene" was popular when my parents were born, but no longer in fashion here. I suspect the problem was that this transliteration started getting pronounced as if it conformed to English orthographic patterns, ie. Just "I-reen", lacking the last vowel. I expect any re-adopters will spell it Erini (or similar) to preserve that third syllable.
I still get the occasional joke about the odd "y" in my given name. It's a hard life. :)

Even when standardly spelt, a careful US English pronunciation of Martin sounds to me like they're saying Marden. It's nice when people spell my name correctly when writing, but not a problem when they don't. What can you do indeed!
Hope it's not too big an issue for yourself. Great comment - thanks for indulging me.

@odisseus20dx Here an accurate but pedestrian attempt:
    Erini where were you
    In the morning?
    Where at midday?
    Where at sundown,
    You bitter-orange-kissed girl?
This I will tell you, Erini,
And let the Virgin judge me
    Erini find a boy
    Find a lad
For, the way you are going
    Not even squint-eyed Lias
    Will marry you
This I will tell you Erini
And let the Virgin judge me
