I would not have recognized her. It`s a pity she changed her image. She has always been beautiful but here her style is more youthful. Incredible, graceful artist.
Harry Belafonte wanted her to try without her glasses. Her appearance on the Danny Kaye show may have been her only time. She told Belafonte she was uncomfortable and would leave if she couldn't wear her glasses. He understood and she resumed wearing her glasses. The show went on.
It's because harry Belafonte suggested she should try to perform without glasses. She did for about two performances and told him she was uncomfortable and told him she would leave. He understood and she resumed wearing her glasses.
Those were the days.... of their youth. Touching, hugging, even kissing was something normal those days, and harassment was an unknown word (at least nobody talked about it). But is obvious that Danny was having a crash on Miss Mouskouri. At that time she looked so beautiful it was difficult to keep distance. And she had such a pure, simple and meantime sophisticated greek style, so you can feel (as Danny tried to say in his own way) the sun and the waves of Mediteranian See in her voice. Pity she lost it, or maybe she just hide it somewhere deep in her soul, because people in this geographical area, never forget where they come from. Greek universe - landscape, sound, food, music, people, trees and flowers - if you visited once, will keep calling you back again and again and again. And Mister Belafonte so cool and nice behaving. I always liked his appearances, his voice, his music, his manners, his joy, his humor. He tricked the words of the song and made such a nice musical joke (Danny was surprised of). Congratulations Nana and Harry !! Wonderful show !!
Don't forget: Danny Kaye was not some pig jerk set on getting a piece of the women entertainers. He himself was gay, though not openly (in an age when he couldn't be open). He was a wonderful entertainer who brought not only Nana, but other great entertainers, both male and female, to public attention.
He was not a pig, he was not dirty that's for sure. I said something about his jokes and Belafonte said the same thing. Seeing him kissing Nana i wouldn't said he was gay. I still think he was lucky to kiss her but maybe i was rude using the word `clown`.
This is originally a Turkish song. First time I heard this version and I loved it. Turkish name is "Kalenin Bedenleri". Technically, composer Manos Hadjidakis patented this song as "Tsifteteli Tourkiko" but it belongs to both cultures now. Here's a duet in both languages: (/watch?v=sK38ylYVR4w) Actually there's also a Macedonian version called "Stani Mome da Zaigras" (/watch?v=jAHKy_rExWM). I hope one day we'll forget about governments' stupidities and embrace each other with love. Much love and respect to my Greek brothers and sisters.
Okay, the first song seems rather boring (if you don't understand the lyrics at least) - but the second one shows why those three are (were) worldwide known stars.
This was actually in the year 1465...Danny wanted a performance without the glasses, which became a trademark...Hand to hip for sword similar to these modern singers GEM and Haley Reinhart.
Später hat keiner was gesagt.
Most disconcerting without glasses, different hair and not a long dress! The first pieces she sang werent to my taste (but of course she sang them well). Unusual to see her singing seated too, though it seemed not to affect her singing at all.
What a great pleasure to see and hear again these Giants of Universal Music !!! Thanks so much ! Love You All !!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
On découvre que nana mouskouri était belle
All I could see was what Greece has given us- thank you
What a way to introduce her!! Stunning vocals, and all three have a blast too. Highly entertaining and soul cleaning too!! WONDERFUL!!

I would not have recognized her. It`s a pity she changed her image. She has always been beautiful but here her style is more youthful.
Incredible, graceful artist.
Nana Mouskouri is beautiful
Wonderful!! I really love this!!
She's absolutely wonderful, I love her, and Harry Belafonte too !
What a beautiful girl she is in this video! How beautifully she sings here!
She was 31 years old here. Up untill her 60s she looked very youthful, gorgeous woman, so classy.
Super trio i love old times

''First time in American Television'' and he hugs her by the back!? That receivement.
He was just that enthusiastic. But now some women would scream harassment. Yes metoo has gone too far.

Superb.

with or without glasses Nana is very sweet, that clown with his worst jokes ever heard was very lucky to kiss her

She’s an incredible artist, let’s paw her and make stupid jokes

What the three of them sing together has nothing to do with the Greek composer Hadjidakis. So their joke was totally wrong.

Ohne Brille....sehr gut...hätte sie beibehalten sollen.

Ope Neena Neena Naee is original Turkish folk song. Orginal Turkish name is "Kalenin Bedenleri".
I wonder which guy she prefers.
George Patsilas, the guitarist off screen in this clip, her husband.
