Divine music offered with devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Vishnu.
This soulful rendition begins with the evocative Viruttam "Pachai ma malai pol meni" written by Thondaradippodi Azhwar, part of Divya Prabhandham the four thousand Tamil verses compiled in praise of Lord Vishnu. The Viruttam is followed by the beautiful Muthuswamy Dikshitar composition "Sarasa Dala Nayana" in ragam Khamas Chaturasra Jhampe talam. “One whose eyes are like lotus petals, O remover of distress…..O Hari Govinda…..protect me” …divine music that describes the beauty, the strength, the compassion of Lord Vishnu.
This song, characteristic of Dikshitar compositions, contains the raga mudra where the raga name is woven into the lyrics. It also includes ‘swaraksharas’ or musical notes that are the same as some syllables of the lyrics. Team Kamaladeepthi Vempati (Vocal), Sindhuja Bhakthavatsalam (Vocal), Kavitha Jayaraman (Veena) and Ananth Kumar (Mridangam) come together to perform this piece with dedication.
