- Thank you for watching our ear wax removal video today. The ear wax extraction featured in todays video was carried out using endoscopic microsuction. This procedure uses a small camera called an endoscope to visualise inside the ear canal whilst a small suction tube is inserted to gently remove ear wax.
All the ear wax cleaning videos you see on our channel are carried out by our ear wax specialists Mr Rhys Barber and Mr Taylor Green.

Ear wax plays a vital role in ear health. It helps to prevent ear infection and helps with ear cleaning by picking up any dirt or debris that accumulates in the ear canal. Normally this ear wax would fall out of the ear taking any dirt or debris with it.
How to remove ear wax?
Many people use q-tips/cotton buds for ear wax removal at home this is one of the worst things you can put into the ear as this can lead to an increased ear wax buildup or in extreme cases impacted ear wax. The best way to remove ear wax is to let your ears clean themselves and not to put anything smaller than your elbow in your ears!
How do I know if I have an earwax blockage?
If you experience a change in your hearing, discomfort in the ear or jaw or a feeling of fullness in the ear canal you may have an ear wax blockage. Our advice is to speak to your Doctor or local Audiologist who can take a look in your ears and assess whether ear cleaning is needed.

Rhys Barber is the Iron Man of Audiology. No wax is too tough, no canal too narrow!
What about the ear pick and currette of Mr Neel Raithata?
Would this have made removal easier?
Taylor would have got it in under 10.
@@EmsThaBreaks441😅
With I heard Marvin Gaye singing "Ain't no mountain high . Ain't no valley low" lol
😂😂
Rhys is like the best ever sports caster of ear removals. I love your analogies too. Spot on
Is English your second language?
My Dad had a mastoid operation when he was 19, unfortunately no one advised him to have his ear checked regularly. 50 years later he had it cleared (at the hospital) for the first time! He did say he felt a bit dizzy afterwards 😂

I'm going to warm up my tea now. I didn't touch it because I was so engaged with this.
I love these. Thank you Mr. B.
Good grief the ear that fought back
Good heavens, that must've been exhausting! This patient was very lucky to have had a skilled audiologist to remove all this! Awesome job, Rhys!
I am so glad you hung in there, Rhys! That was a tough one. I'm sure the patient was delighted that you were able to remove that huge plug.
And THAT ladies and gentlemen is a pro at work!
OMG the end shot of all the pieces looked like the results of an ancient dig! I was all tensed til the end and shocked at the last bit…but then again you are the master!
You too? I was grabbing the seat cushion & pulling every time it seemed he would get the last bit.
Wow! We have a saying here " é como pôr o Rossio na Rua da Betesga" , that means putting de huge Rossio Square in a tiny and narrow street like Betesga street, both in Lisbon...so, a huge plug for a narrow and curved space..I could imagine the struggle 😅😅but you really made it, you removed Rossio from Betesga street!! 🎉🎉
Your videos never disappoint! Rhys you and Taylor have the best rapport and wax remocals on all of social media. You provide medical terms with an easy undestanding of what is going on. Your genuine concern for your client and the banter with youself and Taylor is epic.
Mr B, you had us at mastoid cavity, then add: it almost beat me, hardest removal I’ve done! Only the house on fire could have made me leave before the end!! Fantastic & I do hope you gave your arms a full rest & massage! Thanks Mr B🩵🩵🩵🩵
😅
Would it be possible to show to the size of your tools compared to the rulers? Obviously they look enormous with the aid of the in-ear camera, but I would be interested to see their actual size. Thanks! ❤❤
Maybe even a video going over all the tools in the arsenal and the sizes of them
Forgot your curette?
He has done this in the past! I don’t remember which video; but. He has shown them and gone through what’s what and why.
Was thinking the same 😁
Why don't he use a pair of tweezers to pull out the really hard wax?
I like how you pause briefly as you pull the chunks out so we can see the amount of wax more easily as it’s removed as well as at the end. Great job!
I’m so glad you won the battle with the ear wax! Go, Rhys! Have a great week,
I wish all Doctors had as much compassion as you and Taylor do. Amazing men. Thank you for sharing your videos, I have learned so much about the ear. ❤❤❤
Ha! It didn’t beat you!! I can only imagine how much relief the patient felt after that monster was out. Great job!
As difficult as you described it to be, on video you made it look easy. You once said we don't like getting beat on this channel. Your reputation is in tact as I knew it would be. Take care. LOVE the long ones.
I love that you get so excited when things work out. I think you are a dedicated person who only wants the best for your patients. ❤ That's why I watch you and Taylor whenever as I can. Thank you for all the information this time. Marilyn. USA NH
Thanks Rhys! WOW! it’s cute when you get the giggling too
Wow that was a battle!!! Well done Rhys. Thank you for answering a question I asked a long time ago, (not sure on which channel though) about if a client has feeling in the ear after a mastoidectomy. Plus I got to find out that clients with mastoid cavities are also prone to the Arnold reflex too. So much to learn all these years later 😮 I love it ❤
Thank you so much for being the way you are. When you mention dry skin I always think of my late mother. She could drag out large large pieces of dry skin almost every day. No help from doctors and none like you. She did it herself for years with a hair clip. 🤷♀️🥺
Wow! Congratulations for getting that out. Patience, aching shoulders & arms paid off. You need a massage after that Rhys 👏❤️
Major kudos Rhys for sticking with it and getting the job done. Poor gent must feel so much lighter now that all of that was removed from his cavity. Good on you for a job well and thoroughly done.
You are a rock star in the ear canal world. I wouldn't have blamed you if you had retreated to fight another day but you pushed on and you won that battle. I'm sure the patient is extremely appreciative of all you hard work and perseverance.
Wow! Best Removal Ever. I am a massage therapist-if I could fly across the pond I would give you a free massage. I can't imagine how many adhesions (knots!) you have in your neck and shoulders! When you find yourself all locked up and tense, take a hand towel, wet it with warm water and put it in your microwave for 1-1:30 sec.. Cover with a dry towel to hold in the heat because it will cool off quickly. Then, ever so politely to ask Mrs. B. to give you a neck and shoulder rub!! 😁🤩😴. Love from the US!
Nothing is to hard for you Rhys!! Absolute beautiful. Now, the hard part is to get the patient to come back every six months.
I love it when Rhys says "look at that!"". Great job as always. You need a superman outfit...
That was an edge of the seat episode!!! Really impressive 😊😊😊
What a tough removal. Patience and a strong will were needed for sure. Great job, Rhys !! Thanks so much for sharing. ❤❤❤
I worked up a sweat watching that! We’ll done, Mr. Barber!
Watching from South Arkansas in the USA. You are so funny when you get all excited. I love watching your channel and adore your accent. Never stop making your videos they are great!!!!
I love how excited he is to see the big peels!
Great job. Would i make sense to shorter the follow up window to even less than 6 months?
The moment of no return was brill! Your skill and tenacity are laudable. Pints all round! 🇨🇦
Wow! The tension in this episode was epic!
I was holding my breath for this one.
And the Good Guys win again!! ✌🏻🎨☕️
Rhys, could you please start using Neel Raithatha new ear wax removal tools? I think you would be surprised as to how much they will help you in cases like this. Please, I can’t wait to see other audiologists start using them. Since you are one of the best, it would be exciting to see you use them! Thank you! ❤
Great job! What a challenge. This patient was lucky to have the best Audiologist care for him.
Lol I’m laughing at the defeat on Rhys face at the beginning 😂thank goodness he won
Awesome one Rhys, I just love a Mastoid cavity cleaning. Poor patient though😢
I had a mastoidectomy 30 years ago, been getting my ear cleaned since then every 3-6 months. Had never seen what the inside of my ear looks like. This video explained so much. Especially when you explained why I get so dizzy when the doctor uses suction. Ten seconds of suction can send me to the floor with dizziness. Thank you for this!
Pain staking work. Good job!
So proud to be a hearing healthcare provider. Mr. Rhys B is a shining example of a great provider.
Thanks for this extremely difficult ear wax removal procedure. It was very interesting and informative and so so hard to do. My sincere compliments to you Rhys for helping this patient. Your professional support here was outstanding!!!!!
Thanks ever so much for helping this patient. I know they are grateful for your work. Outstanding video Rhys. Hard on you I know.
Great job.
Iowa here. Steve.
❤️❤️😊👍👍🇺🇸
The patience and persistence you show are incredible
Great suggestion to make a cup of tea first Rhys! Thoroughly enjoyed this one, along with the Shakespearean facial expressions and gestures 😅
Will be saving this, it deserves to go into the library of fame ❤
You did a incredible job! ❤❤
Wow!! Your patience is impressive, Rhys!! So was this video!! Great job, and I love how excited you get at the skin peels!! ❤❤
Rhys, you are sooo dramatic 😁 I can have the worst day and I only need to watch your videos. You make me laugh so hard!! Thank you for that. Great job 👏👏
I've had multiple sets of tubes, a mastoidectomy, a stapedectomy, and most recently got the cochlear osia implant so this is especially cool for me to see other ear canals that look similar to mine! Thank you for posting this!
So what can this patient do if he wants to go to the beach? Plugs? When he showers, does he need to use plugs as well? How can he keep his ears clean? Every 6 months is a must, I guess....Thanks! Good video!😊
I’m sure he uses plugs.
Back when we were a bit more clueless about ear health, my brother (who had grommets in his ear drums as a kid) would put just enough Silly Putty in the opening of his ear canals when he went swimming and when taking showers/baths.
I know audiologists at least in the US can make custom plugs for this kind of issue.
@@Trix897my son is 37. He got grommets at 14 months and we sued Silly Putty.
What an amazing job. Absolutely incredible 🎉❤
I love your excitement and enthusiasm for this even though you were the one carrying out the procedure in the first place 😊😂
Rhys I always appreciate the difficult ones, because I can only imagine how much relief the patient must feel. Awesome human being you are sir. I salute you! 🫡❤
Wooooow that was tough as old boots!
You should get a medal or something. You are so patient. Are you a stubborn person? You don’t give up. You did a great job!
That was a monster removal! Congratulations for hanging in there.
My husband had a mastoidectomy when he was 11, it was revised when he was 24, he's now in his late 30's. He has his ears cleaned out every 3 months with the nhs, they always tell him to put olive oil drops in twice a day for 3 days before his appointment, probably to avoid this type of scenario. I can't imagine his being left for 2 years, I don't think he'd be able to hear anything if he left it that long.
Rhys................👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great job Rhys 😮😊
Rhys you are amazing!
I always watch these wondering if the inside of my ears look like this
Great to see that you get excited like we do when you are narrating. Fascinated by the skin peel. Thanks for a great video
I know that you probably condense the actual appointment but how long was this gentleman sitting in the chair? Must have been a real trooper!
Wow that was a tough one! Great job Rhys!
Love your channel. Take care and stay safe.
That was crazy hard! Nicely done, Rhys!
Hello Mr.B 🙋🏽. Relax and catch your breath. You got it done ‼️👊🏽👍🏽💯
I know the patient appreciates your doggedness at getting all of that stuff out of his ears.😊
One you of greatest piece's of work I've Ever seen Mr. B. Bravo!
These and skin ribbons are my faves!!!
