in the real world, honda is P1 and everyone else is a distant P2. in the last 30 years how many suzuki world championships? how many honda world championships? there's a reason it's called "Honda Motor Company" Kawasaki, Suzuki, etc. all starting out building other things like kitchen appliances and warehouse machinery lol
The exterior doesn't look like has changed all the much accept has a different front end. I'll be curious to see how the new electronic rider aides pan out compared to the R1. The weight loss and new ABS is sick tho.
Seems you can trust Honda to take their time and do something right. Everyone complaining that Honda hadn't updated in so long and other manufacturers had electronics and all, but Honda has no need to rush. They probably took time to develop theirs better, and will offer a more refined machine.Wish I had money to ride one.
For anyone interested here's the info that's released: no weight or power figures yet, around $20,000 for the standard and $25,000 for the sp2 with Marchesinis and a special cylinder head. That's a big jump from $13,999 for the 2016 base. I'm really glad Honda finally put out some new bikes (this and the new crf250/450s), but I can't help but notice a trend. It looks like every improvement that Honda has made on their new bikes have been lifted, at least in concept, directly from Yamaha. They both have the same suspension, Honda finally got a full electronics package w/ quickshifter just like the R1, CBR has the titanium tank R1 has the aluminum tank. It's the same story with the new CRFs - the new Honda feature, downdraft intake, basically copies Yamaha's down draft intake but they kept the cylinder in the standard orientation instead of flipping it like Yamaha. One very interesting bit is Honda must have new machination to work with sheet titanium - 2 titanium gas tanks and a titanium muffler entering production this year. Can't wait till the 2017's drop and we can see a side by side comparison to the Yamahas!
When have concepts of a parts list ever been unique? Quickshifters are not new, TFT screens are not new, and neither is having a titanium tank or exhaust or even magnesium engine casings.
I'm just saying it looks like Honda took inspiration from Yamaha for their new models. Obviously nothing on an affordable production street bike is cutting edge brand new technology - they debut that stuff on MotoGP bikes. The R1M was the first mass produced bike to have an aluminum tank, that was unique. Honda comes out with a mass produced titanium tank 2 years later. The 2014/5 YZFs were the first to introduce downdraft, unobstructed intake with a new cylinder angle - that was very unique. The 2017 CRFs have a new cylinder angle and downdraft, unobstructed intake. The newest gen R1 was the first motorcycle to come standard with full MotoGP electronics - it was unique that it was standard (Ducati was the first to offer it, and BMW offered it too, but neither had it as standard equipment). A couple years later the Honda comes standard with full MotoGP electronics. I think Honda is playing catch-up after neglecting their motorcycle development for the past 5-6 years. The dirt bikes got a new frame in 2009 and the CBR got a new frame in 2008, and since then neither bike has changed much while the competition has improved a lot. 2017 is changing that however, and Honda has an answer to the R1M and the YZFs now.
Not to sure about that massive exhaust, so long. What happened to the little cut off exhaust that's on the current fireblade. It's abit Suzuki. Let's have a small cannon strapped to the side.
OMG, I'm so excited! Thank you Honda, about time you made a modern super sport and it looks amazing! The ONLY thing I'm not excited about is the price, feels too expensive but I guess they're trying to recoup the money thrown at it to come up with all the modern specs.
The wait was worth it. Very happy to see Honda back in the game as a serious contender for best superbike. (Not that they ever really, left though, they just fell a little behind.) This pretty bike will give all the other manufacturers some serious competition. Also very happy to see Honda has returned to the tri-color paint scheme of HRC.
Thaaank You HRC ill B gettin a SP-1 as soon as i can,,, I grew up ridin your machines,,,CR250,,,04 CBR,,,08 CBR,,,, but the last 4 yrs have been with Team Green... Thanks for gettin the blood flowin RED again!!! I cant wait to see how she stacks up against the competition!!!
god bless you Nicky Hayden. Im sure I speak for the many many people youve entertained over the years in saying we will all miss you so much.Youve achieved more in 35 years than 99.9% of motorcyclists could even dream of. R.I.P
Did they though? I bought a 2008 in July of that year. One of the first and it never burnt oil. In fact i still have it and in all that time i've topped it up once. Also know of two others that have had oil free issues with same model.
I knew Honda would come back with a brilliant bike package. I would be interested to learn what the price point Honda will be selling this here in Australia.
Plenty of older school, affordable and highly competent street bikes that, no disrespect, would stretch you and any normal street rider beyobnd his/her limits.
i already have a bike ! and is just a 150cc ! but i'm talking abt a dream bike here ,of course i will buy whats available depending of what i have ! but i will definitely go for this bike if i can afford it. ;)

191hp claimed crank before you think its week just know that it makes 11 more hp and weight 14kg less then the old one Honda have always been very conservative
Is it just me or has the VFR750/800 and CBR1000/900 from generation to generation kind of looked similar? That's very much a good thing IMO, I always loved the way the _INTERCEPTOR_ looked, especially the 79
I am in love.

Honda was waiting for releasing something more special. And it seems to be special.
20k is for the SP. SP isnt a standard blade
The SP is the base model now, and they introduced an SP2.
R.I.P. Nicky Hayden
Big red finally seems to be back in the game loved the previous model mid range hope this one got even more and better to end
piece of art. truly.
I love the new design, i was a big fan of the 2008-2010 design, but not a fan of the 2011-2016, so i'm happy they redesigned it, nicely done.

Removing the reflectors on the fork would be the first thing I'd do.
Simply beautiful!
WILL IT BURN OIL LIKE THE 2008-2016 MODELS?
wouldnt be a fireblade if it didn't lol
this time, a gallon in between the scheduled maintenance lol
Break it in correctly, (not the factory manual way)...
now with the legends about correct/incorrect breaking-in... please.
It simply should NOT happen. period.

How does this bike compete with the 4th gen kawi zx10R? That bike is a monster.
Honda Is Back
I was wondering why they didn't put Nicky in the Repsol colors this past weekend. Now I know.

The bikes are cheap, its the damn insurance.
