I always wanted one of these as a kid, just started thinking about them again now for some reason. Now I'm off to spend my hard earned money on Ebay I suppose :)
Roger if you keep your eyes open and make sure you search on eBay.de you can find reasonably priced older models (with the blue cylinder cover) in good condition at low prices. Mine was €90 late last year. Happy searching!
Thanks for the tip, I'm in Australia though so there might be difficulties with currency and shipping prices if I use .de! Either way I'm not in a huge rush, I'll just keep looking for some nice old engines that are reasonably priced.
Hi John, I have a wilesco d16 an if I run it forward like you did in the video the connecting rod unscrews itself and falls off. I have written to wilesco with this problem but they said that : make sure the screw is thight and run it in the opposite direction. Yes, that works but I think its not the right way to solve this problem. Can you say anything about it? Best regards : Alex.
Another very nice model 👍

@@Roger__Wilco ah ha! Join the Mamod steam forum, there are a lot of Australian members, they will know better y than I.
Thanks, I'll do that tomorrow after work. Really interested in looking at this kind of stuff as a hobby.
how are you lighting this? Those aren't normal fuel tablets?
@@VirtualRobotsRevolt I am using a BIX gas tank and burner.
@@JohnnySteam thanks!
@@JohnnySteam oh wow, everything in this hobby is at least 100 bucks. 😂 guess I’ll keep using the fuel capsules.
@@VirtualRobotsRevolt Yep. Or you could burn alcohol, but you would need a sealed burner tray first, or use a gel such as STERNO

Hi. My only suggestion would be to use a medium strength thread locking compound to stop it from coming undone.
Thank you for your quick answer.
I will try it.
