Congress leader and Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu (28), better known by his stage name Sidhu Moose Wala, was shot dead in Mansa on Sunday, a day after his security was scaled down by the state police. Police said that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and a Canada-based gangster have claimed responsibility for the attack.

I am from Punjab and thank you for sharing this because every Punjabi should knew this gun problem... Even where i live people love guns and in 1 home people have 7-8 guns and most of them are without licence even in my own house there are 6 guns... Thanks for pointing out this issue. In Punjab, carrying or owning guns is a sign of status, in almost all modern Punjabi songs using guns, being a gangster, or killing enemies with guns, having enemies etc is very hyped up. All this stuff is highlighted and is considered "cool". Here people shoot guns (not at people) in every occasions like weddings, diwali, holi etc. In every small fight people give each other warnings that they will shoot them and quote like "weapon ready rkhe ne" meaning they are ready with weapons. Having connections with gangsters or being a part of illegal gangs or being a gangster itself is a trend in punjab and they all think that this is "cool". But they dont realise that nothing is more valuable than life itself. They think killing someone is a game, no one has the right to take anyone's life being it sidhu moose wala or any other. I am from punjab myself, i was born in punjab and living in punjab from the start, i have witnessed all these things with my own eyes. I was, am or will never be in support of this so called trend in punjab.

Talking about the violence rate, i dont know if this rate is still considered low in punjab, but these things are progressing. Also about the stats, it might be low compared to UP, but still it is not less, and many of the gun shoots are not even listed legally. Being a Punjabi myself...I would like to say that this has been a Central Government policy for states like Punjab, Rajasthan bec we have an adjacent border with Pakistan... Tommrrow suppose if Suddenly Pakistan and China attacks through Punjab or Rajasthan or Ladak then guns are easily available in the economic ecosystem for people to defend themselves and fight. I am a Punjabi and I love few singers of punjab like satinder sartaj sahib, Gurdas man ji, amrinder gill , etc and at the same time I don't like Karan aujla, sidhu moosewala, etc just because they make violent songs. Good video but you should mention that the gun related crimes in Punjab are lower than the nation average by 3 times according to the National crimes Records bureau so even if many people have guns in Punjab it’s not as bad as many are thinking it or how it’s portrayed
It is bad, let me tell you why, I am a non punjabi living in Punjab since last 6 years, I have lived there in student area, proper family area and much more, the realitity is being a non- punjabi specially in district of jalandhar, It's impossible to register a violence crime, you can see people fight in groups and a police car standing there, accepted that your reports are true but, for registered cases, a case should be registered isn't it. In these 6 years I have witnessed 7 student deaths definitely not by gun, but in 4 of them locals were involved, I know this is a national issue yet in Punjab people feel proud in assaulting others, I personally have grudges against many I tried taking actions but the law and order of Punjab can be called one of the worst as the Khakhi uniform of Punjab is just a dress they are cowards, go and look at the houses of these constables.
