Informative Video, well presented. I have a basic question regarding the Continuity test. My doubt arises since I don't know the construction of an ESE device and its internals. If I keep a multi-meter probe at the pointed tip of an ESE arrestor, and another probe at the base of the tall rod, below the ESE device, should I expect continuity? ( Am wondering because if there is an insulating air gap inside the dome, then I may not expect continuity. Right?)
Hi Vimal, first, you need to make sure whether 40 cm is sufficient or not for overlapping. As per the IEC 62305 standard, 20 times overlapping is required against the diameter of the rod. So yes, you need to check the resistance between the rebars welded and the resistance value should be 0.2 ohms.

Continuity will be there as our ESE is designed to transfer lightning current in the ground.
