  • I tested a prototype of the soon to be released ElectriQ12 pizza oven from QStoves. This oven is an option for making high-temp Neapolitan-style pizza indoors. It's price is considerably less expensive than other electric pizza ovens currently available so it might be a great fit for someone who's budget minded.

    With a little refinement, there's definitely a need for the ElectriQ12 in the marketplace. Pricing is $299 for the 12", and $499 for the 15" version.

    I actually just ordered this, as a gift for myself. Mainly because I'm enjoying making my own dough and my wife is too. We love our local pizzerias, but it's also more fun to have friends over and when the kids are here they can put their own toppings own and they love that. It's also great to make your own dough with real ingredients.

    Very fun getting to see a prototype! Hopefully they get those kinks worked out. Being able to control both heating elements independently is cool and so is the wireless control panel.

      Yes, definitely a cool experience for sure! I'm confident they will get those issues resolved. I've spoke to two folks at QStoves, and they are both aware of what needs attention. All prototypes tend to be problematic.
      Thanks for the compliment!

      @@KitchenCraftFood understanding it's a prototype, would you buy it? I'm on the fence and the release is tomorrow. You've reviewed a bunch of ovens so I put faith in your opinion. FWIW I have no interest in coal / wood / pellet ovens. Gas or electric only.

    That pizza looks amazing. I've preordered based on your video! With the charred bottom, do you think the oven could be improved by raising the stone or replacing it with a biscotto? Or is it just a matter of dialing in the temps?

    Given the rough edges of the prototype how would you compare this against the Ooni Volt 12? How about a head to head comparison? Is the difference in maximum achievable temperature significant to the final product? I feel that the difference in price as well as the ElectriQ12 being a prototype probably explains the extra polish/appearance points to the Ooni. I am looking for a pizza oven for my kitchen counter and these two are my short list. Thank you.

    Just so everyone is aware, I backed this oven on kickstarter in May 2023, was charged on my CC in July 2023 and was supposed to receive in Sep 2023 at this point I still don’t have the oven and no idea when or if it will ever come so be very careful if you plan to order it on the website

    The spice diavola preheats in less time, is cheaper and gets higher temps. I still think this is a cool product though.

    how hot does the exterior get?
    is the smoke output safe for indoor use?

    • @KitchenCraftFood
      @KitchenCraftFood  Рік тому

      The exterior gets very warm, but not hot enough to burn you if you brush up again it. I can put my hand on the silicone shell for for a few seconds before it becomes uncomfortable.
      The oven does smoke a little bit, but it was never an issue for me. You could always position it under a range hood if you have one.

    How long took to reach 800f, with only top heat?
    using below element makes a difference in time to get stone at temp?

    • @KitchenCraftFood
      @KitchenCraftFood  Рік тому

      It took about 30 minutes to pre-heat. I haven't tested with using the bottom element because the stone temp already gets hot enough for Neapolitan-style pizza, but I bet it would speed in the pre-heat.

    I'd love an electric oven but they're all overpriced except for 17" Cozze för $360. One thing some people noticed is that the burnt black spots does not taste good in an electric oven however in a wood or gas oven it doesn't taste bad, to me heat is heat but I don't know. I like the glass door on this oven. How does the pizza compare to a pizza made in an Ooni koda? So far from what I've seen it seems like pizzas made in electric ovens does not look as good.

    • @KitchenCraftFood
      @KitchenCraftFood  9 місяців тому

      The oven works great. I’ve baked about 20 or so pizza in it and no issues. However, if you have enough outdoor space for a wood or gas oven, then I’d recommend going that route. It’ll save you some $, and you can enjoy being outside while baking pizza.

  • @cjaquilino
    @cjaquilino Рік тому

    I have no brand loyalty. So I welcome competition. Glancing at the Ooni Volt (and its price) this kills that, especially if QStove is doing a 15” oven for $500. Main downside is it should’ve been big enough for a full size napoletana.

    • @KitchenCraftFood
      @KitchenCraftFood  Рік тому +1

      Agreed! Competition drives innovation so I'm all for it. In my opinion, the 12" still produces an acceptable sized pizza. If a larger pizza is a must, then the 15" should fit the bill once it's released.

    • @camaperture8116
      @camaperture8116 10 місяців тому

      I can't remember where I read this or why this is an issue but I did read that steels are fine for home ovens that max out at around 550F (I have a steel for my oven) but they are not good for high temp ovens like dedicated pizza ovens.

    I week ago I was definitley buying this oven. Something didn't feel right though. Never really showed it can cook a proper neapolitan. this showed it can, but I would rather pay more money and have them get the kinks out than get this oven at this point.

    • @KitchenCraftFood
      @KitchenCraftFood  Рік тому

      From what I'm told, QStoves will iron out all of the kinks before shipping to consumers. The estimated ship date is September 2023 so plenty of time to work things out. Their Kickstarter has plenty of info. Link is in the video description box.
