Reid, I've been a follower of yours for several years, before Valley Ridge!! Enjoy all your content. You taught me how to properly zero iron sights and red dot sights, thanks for all you do. Semper Fi!!
I love that you're in the rain, so many people only want to train on nice, clear days. Bad times and bad situations don't wait for good weather! Outstanding!!
That's the trick. Shoot rain hail sleet snow, even some level of wind. Other than optics and gear function testing there are little considerations that you don't discover unless shooting in those conditions. Even post, like cleaning after a rainy drizzly day. You're rifle will crud up if you don't clean well after a rainy day just from the humidity the carbon soaks up.
The range is looking absolutely beautiful. I am counting the days until my class! I am training every other weekend at the range to get my skills up and get fit. Thank you so much reid.
Great explanation. I believe that was more important than looking at the target. It was very important to show that you don't have to grab the trigger real fast in order to meet the time standard. A constant, steady trigger press is more important than trigger speed. Great Job Reid. Thank You.
Will definitely return to Valor Ridge had a Great experience in the pistol course. It’s worth the price of admission. Thank You Again to you and your wife stay safe!
I qualified at my department almost exactly as you demonstrated, except our targets turn. I believe we had to do 2 to the body 1 to the head in 2 seconds(I think) with Eotec red dots then repeat, then two years later same final test in 3 seconds with iron sights. And with turning targets it’s pretty challenging. Many fail this section of the qual.
The USMC Table 1 qualification when Marines are not authorized to “rest the magazines on the deck” comes from the National Match Service Rifle Competition rules. The courses of Fire are similar. Just saying where that “magazine on the deck” thing comes from Reid. Thanks for this course of fire.
This may be available somewhere else, so sorry if I missed it. What size is the engagement square and circle on the target? Great course of fire too. Short skills practice sessions like this on a regular basis seem to be far more beneficial than burning hundreds of rounds of ammo a couple times per year.
Love your videos. I have a question about your American Rifleman book. On page 58, you mention about how to select a quality rifle and say that it should have heavy duty bolts and a chrome-lined chamber. What do you mean by chrome-lined chamber? Also, how can I tell if the rifle has a heavy duty bolt? Do Ruger Ar556s meet this criteria? Which basic or stock Stag arms rifle would you recommend that meets that criteria? Many thanks.
This drill with irons is a real test that I don't think many shooters can pass especially first few times out. Everyone is so used to Red dot / Optic use that range and positional shooting with irons would be a real challenge. It certainly a great way to develop iron skills!
At 47 year past graduation 3rd Bn MCRD P.I., I still dry fire combined with other skills. Great course of fire Reid, keep up the work you do, it’s a good work,,,,,,, God Speed,,,,,, Semper Fi,,,
Does your wife run a chest rig or plate carrier? If so what's the set up? My wife is just getting into shooting/training not sure what gear a woman would prefer.
Reid, I have never asked you a question before today. Are you married to Patriot Nurse? I respect your privacy but, love you both equally. Respectfully, Eric Thompson.
I woul d like your opinion Mr. Henrik..Sorry for spelling 😢 I see so many ppl. Put their hand on top of the forearm of their rifleswhen they shoot..I think it's kinda dumb & not very effective..ty 😊
When you have ten people shooting side by side and make move after each course of fire, you don’t feel silly looking side by side. You simply don’t want to get ahead of other shooter’s muzzle😂

Reid! I came by for Pistolcraft I and Rifleman I back in 2017; this is making me want to come down and do it all over again!
With the weekend here, this will be a great lesson to work on. Thanks.
Iron sights are still the basic but fully functional set up.
Love the instructor call outs, Reid. I appreciate that
Many things in shooting are as follows get it right then you can get it faster
Good drill. I will give it a go tomorrow when I get out to the range!
Thank you

You better believe it ! Especially on 'rack grade' weapons ! (Resting on magazine) 🎯 👍
I love these videos. And the the training with irons.
Thank you for consistently putting out all of the content on your channel. May God continue to bless you and your loved ones.
Great standards. I love this stuff. Basic fundamentals are the building blocks to greatness.
We appreciate you
Great video! Thanks for the inspiration and direction to get out and improve.

Thank you all your great free info. God bless yall.
This was GREAT.
Thank you very much!
I like that he doesn't keep recording and edit what ain't perfect. What you see is what you get!
Great lesson! Thanks Reid! Gonna use this drill on my students
Thank you, Reid.

Excellent video, thanks for taking the time to make it and share it!!👍🏼😊

Thanks, man. Appreciate what you do.
We know you can shoot faster. Thanks for slowing it down to where the average person should be.
*ProTip:* You don't _need_ fancy printed targets. Paper plates and napkins will get you similar sized target zones.
Verify your skills. No excuses.
Just don’t do it at picnics.

You da man Ried!

Works for me.
Reid, any reason you run irons over red dot?
I didn't know you got married, congrats.

What’s the level 2 holster you’re using for your pistol?
👍👍
What type of rear site is that? How much do they run for and where can I pick one up? I need to find a good rear site.
Looks like Daniel Defense front and rear fixed, very good sites.
Putting in work without an optic.
