Yessir “ I like the idea of being removable when not needed. Design fit and finish look right on tha money. Now all you need is a big fish stronger to hang all the fish on , for the ride home!
This is superb. I have been carrying two 12 feet kayaks on the roof of a Honda civic. Not great. I just bought myself a trailer and this looks absolutely brilliant. Thanks for such an informative video.
Thanks for this video. I constructed a smiliar kayak rack to fit in the back of my Ford Ranger. So far it seems to work great. I have spray painted mine black. The wife didn't like the chrome idea. The pvc rod holders underneath are a nice addition. It keeps the bed of my truck free and the rods protected.
Superb, this is what I am looking to build for my 2 kayaks, infact next weekend, thanks for the base design, intend to do some other fixtures because i have them on hand and to save a little money but love what you have done. Thanks for your time Roger
Exceptional job with your build Carl. I like the way you mounted the ratchet straps to your rack. I am making a rack on my pick up for my grandsons canoe and maybe other stuff I might want to carry in the future as well.
Hey Carl, really great idea, I was curious if you wouldn't mind sharing the dimensions and measurements. I'd like to build one and put it in my truck as well. Hope to hear from you thanks
Thank you for sharing! I’ve always wanted a truck and I’m finally getting my first one in a few days because I want to get a kayak and do more outdoors stuff. Your video just made it possible for me to make my own affordable racks - couldn’t be happier! Have a great day! 😇
ABSOLUTLEY awsome...I'm going to try my hand at it my short bed frontier needs help hauling my kayak. I have brackets inside the bed will be used to secure the entire rack...can't wait to get started...lol measure twice cut once...dad use to say...hope I'm able to figure it all out Thank you for the video tho.the 😎👍
Man, that is AWEsome! Fantastic job and I am totally going to use that to outfit my Dodge Dakota short bed. I'm thinking about putting some of those little reusable, rubber wire ties, or tie downs, attached to the wood just forward of the rear pvc pole hangers, just as a paranoid measure to keep poles from moving around at all. This is the answer to my poor boy dreams. Thanks for sharing your creative genius.
this is awesome . thanks for sharing. i wished ida seen this before i built mine.the fishing rod holders i will do next. i used 2x12 for the top and notched it out to accommodate the yacht,(as i call it). i made mine to break down so the wife can load and unload it. i dont feel as though that will ever happen. thanks for the inspiration
Nice work - think it could have been a lot simpler and I'll probably do something more elegant for mine...sans rod carriers, etc. Great ideas about how to build this sort of rack for smaller trucks. I love the u-bolt solution for the two kayak option which will be important for me. I have holes down into the bed rails that I'll probably use for my ranger (cause it will provide the stability that will provide for the horizontal stability you have to build into the rack width), but otherwise, the design is awesome and I'm gonna steal it outright! I think that an option for the notched 4-by's would be to drive a nail or bolt through that notch and provide a smooth surface to ride the straps on. The only other improvement I might suggest would be another eye bolt at the center back to allow you to hook a bungi cord from the end of the kayak to ensure that the unit is always having some forward pressure. Nice work, dude - thanks a lot - I'll post my ranger-based alternatives shortly. Thanks a bunch, buddy!
This was a private lake next to the Little Piney. I fish mainly around the Rolla/St. James area. My favorite rivers around here are the Big Piney, Gasconade, Meramec, and Current. Thanks for watching!
Dave, Sorry I just realized I did not answer the last part of your question of how big of a yak the truck rack will hold. It should hold about any length you want to put put on it, say to 14' or so. Width wise, it will hold 66" worth of kayaks. I put 2 Jackson Coosas on it and they fit nicely.
can you send me the dimensions im going to build myseld one noe i run a small business doing garage doors and i dont want to spend the money for a ladder rack to haul them
I really like the idea of the PVC pipes for your rods! Im gonna use this idea on my rack. Thanks!
I recently purchased my first kayak and have a small pickup and have been looking for rack ideas. This is perfect. Thanks for sharing.
Good system. Love the pipe in the insulation idea. Appreciate the share.

This is a great rack. I use a truck bed extender I bought at Harbor Freight but this is something to definitely think about.

Like that setup.thanks for the idea.👍
Exactly what I was looking for! Awesome! It's project time!
Hey Carl, really great idea, I was curious if you wouldn't mind sharing the dimensions and measurements. I'd like to build one and put it in my truck as well. Hope to hear from you thanks
Great video on the build. I’ll probably make one similar because we have a small camper and need to utilize bed space in the pickup. Thanks!!!
What an awesome idea sir great video thank you.
Just what I was looking for, An idea to get started. Maybe a few mods but for the most it's just right. You do good work.

Great set up!!! Just bought 2 - Bali SS12 Kayaks and a 2014 Sierra Double 4X4. Will be making this very soon!!!
Great set up! Genius, thanks for sharing.
Nicely done! Thanks for posting.

awesome stuff. Built mine for $30 since I had most of what I needed! Thanks for the advice and the video.
Great video thanks for sharing, I will use some ideas in my kayak trailer
Built it! Came out awesome!
Awesome job! I will be building one of these for my 16 ft scanoe. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic! I admire your ingenuity a lot. I have always been puzzled why companies don't make rack system to hold multiple kayaks.
LOVE IT!! Really good set up and idea!
Good stuff. I'm going to do something like this for my truck. Got 3 yaks and rods and all equipment to carry.
This helps a bunch ive got a f150 pick and been wanting something like this for my canoe
Congratulations !! Very nice job !
Great Idea. Building one now. Thanks
thats a grate idea ima try this the pvc rod holders just tops it off hope u make more vids like this.
Great video. I'm building one now. Thank You.
Dang brother! That thing is LEGIT!! Well done!!!
Freaking awsome .I definitely will make my own . Great job

Hey, did you build it?
@@johnnyloizides7887 Of course not, he was just another guy on the internet blowing his mouth.
I'll have to copy this for utility. Now to make it pretty looking.
That is awesome! Found my canoe solution... Thanks!
the PVC stuff is genius!
nice set up. Love the price!
Kick ass man...great job! really liked your hook up man...nice
Great job!!
Nice job!!!
Really nice.
Go Mizzou! Thanks for the information. I'm on Oahu right now. Looking into kayak fishing.
High quality... "can get it at wallmart" lol
That's awesome. I think I'll be stealing your design.
Very nice! and tons cheaper than my Thule Xsporter 422XT
Love the idea! I couldn’t tell in video, what is keeping kayak from sliding forwards or rearwards? Thanks!
This is pretty nice. Looks very versatile. I don't like the wood look of it, so I might spray paint it black. Is it really heavy?
Great idea. Are you willing to share cut sizes and step by step help to make one

Ive got the same exact truck and looking to do the same thing
Looks great, is that something you plan to leave in all the time or take in and out when needed? Also how big of a yak do you think that would carry?
So I just happened to come across your video, nice rack. Question is how much do you think the rack weights??
Dave, Sorry I just realized I did not answer the last part of your question of how big of a yak the truck rack will hold. It should hold about any length you want to put put on it, say to 14' or so. Width wise, it will hold 66" worth of kayaks. I put 2 Jackson Coosas on it and they fit nicely.
Nice…. functional….
I plan on leaving it in unless I need the truck for something else. To remove it, just take off the green straps and slide it out.
Thanks Roger!
nice
Can you show me how exactly is the green lace holding it down in point inside I'm re watching it but i can't see it
Thanks!!
Thank You!
Is the whole assembly bolted into the framework of the bed or just sitting on top ratchet strapped to the bed ??
The two green ratchet straps go around the rack and hook onto factory metal hooks in the four corners of the bed of the truck.
What angle did u cut the inside braces? Looks like 25 degree angle
What’s the difference between a kayak and a canoe?
How long are the tie downs ? For 2 kayaks ?
How much did it cost to make this whole set up?
can u post the dimensions for the parts of the rack?
how many 2x4's and about how many screw?
depends on your truck bed
Too bed frontier don’t carry holes on bed frame
can you send me the dimensions im going to build myseld one noe i run a small business doing garage doors and i dont want to spend the money for a ladder rack to haul them
Bad trade
BORINGGGGGGG
Great job !
