I have just heard news that Ronald DeFeo Jr. has died aged 69 on the 12th March 2021 in Prison
Too bad. We fed n bathed him n sheltered him. Offered free programs n free medical care all those years. I wish we tax payers had a choice and not the govt demanding laws..
@ The Crime Reel WoW he got a
put lucky, 69 isn’t that bad. What
ever happened that Morning or even
prior, I still think he was exacerbated
by his already messed up mind. Even

@@RalphCunha nice one Ralph, thanks and welcome
The author of "The Amityville Horror", Jay Anson, died on March 12, 1980! The killer, Ronald J. DeFeo, Jr died on the same day, 2021.
Him and Brief Case can always start a dull day off right.
Thanks joshice
I hope your day gets brighter Joshice.
💯
I totally adore both of them because of their content, research, and production values.
they are also so underrated
Moving into a house that was a crime scene sounds like a great way to get an old house for a good price, meet the weirdos in town, and make the local kids scared to go into your yard... I think with a preemptive exorcism or two I could manage it lol.
Thanks for that Emily
If only people would actually leave you in peace, people seem to enjoy the macabre and will freaking gather round the house to gawk.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣I just screamed laughing at this comment, because... For real ,right???🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
According to the book (which is probably a lot of BS), they did have a preemptive exorcism. The house trapped the priest in a room and tried to kill him with bugs or something.
Awesome! I think the same!
Holy Cow! I’m from Long Island, NY and the Amityville is a big staple here.
Thanks so much Kayla - lovely to see you here
@@TheCrimeReel you’re welcome. My dad was obsess with this store. It is a huge staple here where I’m from.
I took a office job on Main Street located in the old Historic Amityville Post Office which was creepy. The building just held 4 employees on the main floor. The building architecture was brick and inlaid wood beams. It had a musty old smell. 30 years ago the building held a pool engineering company which I worked for. I love Long Island, some areas have a odd feeling. This is my experience. Past. Have a great day every one. Stay safe!!
Good morning! I found a handful of Amityville paperbacks recently. There were 5 installments in total, though after Part II they stopped claiming to be based on true events. The series follows the Lutzes as the entity from the house continues to haunt them long after their escape. Even if it wasn’t just a cash grab or a hoax the whole time, the Lutz family certainly milked it for all it was worth.
Oh wow thanks so much for that Emily
How very true. I remember when this all happened. It was everywhere. You couldn't get away from it. I was so bored after a while. After the first story, it was monotonous. They really over milked it.
Lutz family full of bull, made story in conjunction with R. Defeo's defence attorney , then the ridiculous charlatan married couple Ed & Lorraine Warren jumped on the bandwagon, shameless pieces of shit.
I heard they couldn't afford the mortgage and came up with the haunted house story to get out of it.
The Lutz's were full of it. But it worked and they raked in a ton of cash
“Once he started he couldn’t stop”! I thought that was when you try to eat just one piece of chocolate and end up eating all of them NOT killing ones entire family
thanks Aaron

My sister bought a house where a woman was shot through the bathroom door while reading the book Helter Skelter for really cheap. It came with 1 1\2 acres of land. No-one has ever had any weird stuff happen and her and her family have lived there for over 30 years. So long answer is yes I would 😊
Yep that is good to know, thanks Julie

You’re welcome Caddy 😊
Dude… you’re a master of the narration game. Respect! ✊🏽. Starting to warm to the idea of audio books because of you! Nice job.
Wow, thanks for that Gavin
No way would move into a house where 6 people were murdered. Pssst. I lived in a house with a haunted bedroom. Whatever was in that room would whisper the last word I said. It only happened a few times in the 8 years I lived there but it was undeniable. My husband and I both heard it. The 1st occurrence was in the middle of the night, my dog was pacing around the room and I kept telling her to sit. Then out of nowhere a whispered voice said "siiiiiiit" I just about had a heart attack! My husband heard it too. Nothing else ever happened besides these whispers and it was always the last word I said. One day I was showing my friend around the house and when we got to my room, she said, "oh wow, this room has a spirit living in it". I was surprised she could feel it but I responded with "yeah, but she seems harmless". I heard it a couple of more times but for some reason, it didn't bother me and I wasn't scared.
Wow Tonya, thanks for sharing that with us
I would never have moved into that house. And I've lived in a haunted house too. Some ghosts are more unpleasant than others because they have good reason to be on the angry side. Ps. May the victims in the house rest in peace as much as they can.
If you're the type that's into the paranormal, that would be an ideal haunting. Just enough so you know it's real, but not malevolent or harassing
I would have snatched the place up!
The spook sh*t is just that! Only imbeciles fall for that superstitious CRAP!
@@t4705mb6 my goodness, how very edgy. We're all impressed. Really.
I gotta give it to the Lutz's tho...perfect timing, with the Exorcist coming out and everyone into hauntings. Hope they made their money back.
Thanks Linda
This is exactly what I needed to wake up to today! Thanks for all your hard work in putting these great videos together!
You are very welcome Mags
I don't know if it's spirits or a house's history somehow imprinting itself on the structure, but I have certainly always felt that the moment you walk into an empty house you can tell if it likes you or not.

Psssst.. not sure if I would move into a house where there had been a crime scene but as houses generally "outlive" us and can stand for centuries, I am sure many of us dwell in places where somebody died.. I am not religious but do think there are many things we have yet to understand about the paranormal!

Morning CR 👋🏽
I remember this well and the movie. Since I was a child I’ve been taught that when you move into a new dwelling a prayer of protection should be done. Lots of folk would call it blessing a home
The last tenant of the apartment I have lived in for more than a decade died here
I have had no paranormal experiences. The spirits know who to bother
Great job as always!!
Thanks for that Michele and the blessing of a home is a great suggestion

I don't know the history of my childhood home, but at some point I began experiencing strange phenomena. While playing with my Barbies on the stairs across from the bathroom, I would hear footsteps walking across the floor above. The rest of my family were in the living room. Once I was upstairs in my room when I heard footsteps walking from my parents' room across the hall. The footsteps stopped in the doorway of my room. The doors were open so I could see no one was there. I tried talking to whatever was there, but there was no response.
Another time, I was home by myself when I heard a woman or girl's voice. It sounded like it was coming from upstairs. There was an apartment building next door to us, and a window to one side of the staircase overlooked the parking lot. So, I opened the window and looked around, but didn't see anyone. I still heard the voice, but it didn't sound any louder.
Another time, I woke up early one Saturday morning to use the bathroom. I was almost downstairs when I heard water running in the bathroom sink. Nervous, I went back upstairs and checked that everyone else was still in bed and they were. After a while, I started downstairs again and didn't hear the water running. I was about to enter the bathroom when I noticed the rocking chair in the adjacent room rocking by itself! I took a deep breath and went back upstairs where I stayed until my mom got up.
For some reason, I seemed to be the only one in my family to experience these things. I had told my mother, but she acted like it was just my imagination. Oh, there was one other family member who heard the noises--the dog! One time the dog and I were home alone when I started hearing the noises upstairs. The dog went over to the staircase and stood there briefly looking toward the top of the stairs.
At some point, all the strange phenomena stopped--I think it was after I returned home after being in the hospital for a month. Then, in college, I was a night monitor in a building on campus. There was an auditorium downstairs, and a classroom and office upstairs. It was rare for anyone to go in at night. I would sit in the auditorium studying, and would hear the sound of someone walking around backstage. I started sitting at the back of the auditorium near the door. One night, though, I suddenly heard a clicking sound and looked up from my book. I noticed the lights over the stage had come on. I had to work up some courage to go up on stage to turn the lights out.
I had a couple of classes in the same building, and one night several of us from one of my classes went there to study. We were sitting onstage talking when suddenly the lights came on and then went back off. All of us sat there staring at each other for a few seconds before we continued talking. I'm glad there were other people there to witness that! There were rumors on campus about a student murdering her roommate. I don't know if it was true; I think there are similar rumors on all college campuses. Anyway, that was a newer building.
After surviving a couple of haunting experiences in my life, I'm not sure if I would be brave enough to buy a house where I knew someone had been murdered. I have thought about it before. If the murder was unsolved, I think I might be inclined to move into the house and try to forge a connection with the deceased, letting them know I want to help bring their killer to justice.
Thanks for that PD
I have also had many experiences with the supernatural, ever since I was very little. I don't want to elaborate because I am pretty sure I will sound like a nut case. What is weird is that besides me, my Mom and my daughter have had these experiences too. Sometimes the gift is wonderful, but many times it is very trying and can just be horrible. Thank you for sharing your experiences!
Very interesting really
@@ArisEmriis I have always had and have things happen/ happening around me.. yes it is both good and bad..
Good heavens, very scary, indeed. What about nowadays? Do you still experience the paranormal or frightening happenings?
Excellent, as always.
Thank you 😊
Thanks again Barbara
I stayed at my grandparent's new apartment for a couple of months back in 1998. I slept in the living room on the couch. After the first month, I was made aware that the beam on the ceiling right above the couch was used by a young man who worked in the building crew as his hangpost. I kept sleeping there without any disturbances other than annoying relatives.
So, yes! I'd buy the Amityville house at a steep discount and move right in. Furniture and all.
Nice one Chuck - thanks for the detail
I also live in a house that has a shocking history. The man that lived here with his daughters, sexually abused his daughter who lived here also. She stayed with him and raised his children. He killed himself in the bathtub, and she finally got away from him. But sorry, no paranormal activity here. My house is blessed and this is something we didn't know when we bought the place.I've raised 2 happy sons here and continue to live here and my mom lives with me now. The house needs a lot of work but I love the place. I do often think about her tho, and wonder what ever became of her, very sad.
Another great show. Thankyou TCR.
Thanks for listening TRJ
Oh yes, yes, YES! You did one of my all time terrifying favs! I think I need some Rescue Remedy after this. I'm sure there was some embellishments but the mere fact there was a mass murder there anyway is more than enough to make it scary.

I'd like to think that a house where a murder has taken place would have a noticeably lower price given its relative undesirability. So, given how expensive houses are here in the US, I'd live in a murder house--because it might be the only house I could afford. (But it would also be kind of creepy, and I do like creepy.)
Nice one Cain - thanks for that

Psst I don't think I could move into a house that was a crime scene. One of the houses I grew up in had an unusual feel and spirits. One of the owners had passed away. I kept seeing a faded figure in my closet. Whenever it appeared my bird would go nuts! Come to find out, after we moved, the gentleman had passed away in my bedroom. No crime there he died due to complications from AIDS. After that, his partner couldn't live there without him. His partner was there when we looked at the house and seemed extremely kind, humorous and creative.
They had done a ton of beautiful work in the house 😍 it was stunning!
I was never scared by anything that happened. I would get an overwhelming sense of saddnes until I started to sing or put on music 🎶 the feeling changed to happy with an underlying missing of what once was. That was the house in Bath, Ohio and it was a few blocks away from Jeffrey Dahmer's childhood home.
So, I guess it depends what type of crime. 😄
Good afternoon Crimey n the Reelies ♥️. Hope the gang are all ticketyboo.
This was one of the first ‘grown up’ books i read, the film was diabolical. JFYI the other was The Rats series by James Herbert. No sleepless nights here.. listening to every noise and praying it’s not a giant rat coming to eat me alive 😂. Always wore knickers in bed after that ... if you know you know 😳😂. EDIT- I would and did live in a house where a murder occurred. I was there when it happened and only left when my son was born and needed more room

I used to live in a house where a murdered young girl lived, and even though she was not murdered in the house, the place was haunted, she would take pieces of my jewellery, and hide them, some pieces I never found, but one day my engagement ring went missing, so I shouted give me back my ring, 2 seconds later my I heard something drop outside my bedroom door and my ring was there, all of my children was at school and husband was at work, she was very attached to me, the more emotionally upset I was the more she would do things, one day we were having a bonfire night party with my best friend and her kids, she said someone tugged on her shirt, she thought it was my youngest who was 3 at the time, so she said give me a second and I will pick you up, but when she turned around there was no one there, as her daughter had my daughter in her arms at the top of the garden, but my friend was convinced she saw a young girl with curly hair for a split second, I moved home a couple of years later but am convinced she has followed us,
When I was a child an old lady used to sit on the end of my bed, when i mentioned it to my parents and described the old lady, it was my great grandmother, who passed away when I was a yr old, she used to visit 2 or 3 times a week, but I was never scared it was like she was just visiting me to make sure I was ok

In regards to the furniture...I was in a B&B and as I was walking through the foyer an angry!? 😄 credenza caught my eye, demanding that I open the top drawer. @@TheCrimeReel Yes! I'm sure this sounds cliche, but before living there, I always found ghosts just fun. But when you're in it, and it seems negative, its very different! We were only there about six weeks, but the increasingly eerie events there kept escalating and have really stuck with me. I'd never given it any credence because I've lost many close family and never felt them after. However one July 4th we attended a pool party at a friend's house. We'd never been to her house before. As we crossed the door threshold both myself and my husband immediately felt a very cold chill and heard a loud male voice say "GET OUT !" We put our food to share on the table and walked quickly through the house out to the pool area. A couple of weeks later we were getting together at someone else's home and picked that woman up to ride with us. After a few minutes in the car I told her we had experienced something bizarre at her home on July 4th. She immediately said oh you mean my dead husband, he won't leave and makes himself known to some people. He also made it impossible for her to date or bring a man home. He moved things, opened and closed doors, was vocal to her. She finally had to move. So after that and actually experiencing first hand I know it does occur.
No way would I ever move into a house, knowing there had been murders there!! Even if nothing “paranormal “ happened to me and my family, just knowing what had taken place would be too unsettling and creepy. No thank you.... I’d have to pass! Lol you couldn’t even PAY me to live in a house like that!
I have always been fascinated by the Amityville Horror story. I saw the first movie back when I was little in the early 80s. Creeped me out lol! And even though the movies are highly dramatized, I really like watching them. The one from 2005 is great!
So thanks CR! This was such a wonderful surprise! Quite exciting! Take care and stay safe!
Thanks for that Virginia
Good Evening, TCR fans!
Hey Jommel, hope you are well
Hi! 🙋🏾♀️
Such an iconic house, good stuff Crimey ❤
Thank so much Charlotte
I don’t believe I’d like to live in a home that was the scene of a murder. To much negative energy.
Thanks Aaron
Yeah, ghosties I don't mind. They're all over. Murdered ghosties is a whole other can of worms. It's very hard to find PTSD counseling for traumatized ghosties. (Not poking fun at PTSD, or traumatized people or ghosties, just facts.)😱😳👻
I agree.
@@meemurthelemur4811
You got that straight.
Me to 😁no thank's
Great upload THX!! I'd move in. If it was rent free.
Good morning everyone, the very first time I watched this movie, as a child , I have always had the thought of I were ever lucky enough to get my dream home, it would turn out to be a home like this 🥺
It is a pretty house, thanks Cortnei
Heck no! Too creepy! (And I have watched too many paranormal shows!). Thank you for the new video!!!
Thanks Stacy
What a nightmare to be honest I'm not sure how I'd feel living in a place that had murders occur in it. I'm not the superstitious type but it would still feel somewhat uncomfortable. Still it's interesting to find out the origins of the Amytiville horror movies.
Thanks for that LK
murder is murder (even if driven there by an overpowering bulling monster of a father), ghosts, demons, paranormal activity are just excuses, the insane plea, the old adage 'It wasn't me'.......... but how many people live somewhere now and without them ever even knowing some horrible event happened there......... a lot more than you might think............
thanks again True Crime for your time and effort in making these programs......
I for one love them all..........
take care, stay safe
Appreciate your comments FS, cheers for the support of The Crime Reel, thanks
Psst: It would be the property tax & the heating bill that would scare me
lol yes Miji
Especially in those days of the "energy crisis"
A little known fact-EVERY place is haunted..some energy is just more noticeable than others..and as far as experiencing that energy,it depends on how well you're protected🙏...keep up the great work C.R.
Interesting! Thanks for that Jasper and cheers for the support
I'll have to agree with u on that. I've lived in many haunted houses over the years one of the last ones even been attacked so NOW i live in a motorhome if things get weird around me i drive away far away
Hello Crime Reel. I've watched all the movies read the books. I still to this day find this intriguing. I don't think this will ever be resolved that's what makes this story interesting to this day. I'm not sure if I would live in that house permanently but I would like to stay for a few days. Thank you again for sharing this
Well done.
Thanks for that Toni
Thanks for posting- growing up in the town next door…. Always will be a landmark even though the house looks complete different now …
Thanks Allison, ,yes it does look different now doesnt it
Thanks A million, Real facts, that

I again missed it earlier today but I'm extremely bored right about now and it's perfect timing 💟

Would I move into a house of a crime scene?, well I probably wouldn't, people think I'm bonkers but I really do believe in spirits, they're not all nasty but I wouldn't be happy knowing people had lost their lives in a brutal way in rooms I spend all my time in, the echos of what happened would bother me.
thanks for your story today🙂 x
Thanks for that Janet
When my mother and her best friend were house-hunting, they went to tour one that was otherwise perfect, but her daughter didn't want to go near it, and both of them felt a heavy, angry presence in the living room. The realtor decided then to tell them that a man had committed suicide in said room, and it was agreed that they weren't even going to mention that house to her husband. They did end up in a haunted house, but no one there was malevolent or even mean.
I have always been fascinated by this story, but not because of the paranormal element, but the strange criminal element. I think it is a great study in family dynamics. I don't think it would bother me to live in a house with a bloody history. But I am not sure. All the same, another excellent narration.
Thanks so much for that Michelle
Oh anyone else in Texas get that freak snowstorm? Freezing cold no electricity we had no water yesterday and I am about to go stir crazy.

I would not knowingly move into a house that had been a crime scene. The reason being, the knowledge that something terrible had happened there would be enough to feel uncomfortable, plus, I truly believe that just like a cassette or CD/DVD events can be recorded and played over and over like echoes in a building or location where death has transpired... After all, violent death, is filled with extreme emotion such as pain, fear and hopelessness. On the other hand, having lived in a flat and then a house, both of which I was initially unaware of their past, and experienced evidence of a haunting along with other witnesses and later discovered the history of the premises, I know that a haunting as a result of a natural/peaceful death is not a problem.
I was in the flat for getting on for 3 months and it was a cold flat. The decor suggested it had belonged to an elderly person. I was alone, first time I had lived alone and I kept getting the feeling that someone was there, but never saw anything. I was doing my washing in the bath one evening (no washer for a few weeks) and I suddenly thought. I wonder if she died in here? It was a passing thought, but I later befriended a neighbour who said, 'I don't know how you can live there?' I asked why and she said, 'Nobody told you? The old lady who lived there. Nobody heard from here for a week so relatives came round and found her dead in her bath.' Oddly it did not scare me in the slightest. I just said to her, 'Aah, that explains why I feel like someone is watching me.' Felt no ill intent, no sadness, just a presence that was strangely comforting.
However, the second one, the house. It was an old building and though nobody knew it's exact past apart from it being across the road from an army testing ground during WWI, it has to be said that I was not sad to leave, nor was my pet dog, who spent her time very close to me with her tail between her legs. Now that place just felt icky and just wrong. Not to mention it being cold in the height of summer and at night, with the lights on you heard footfalls overhead and would see a shadow cross the room most nights... I thought it was my imagination until my boyfriend's sister gave me a knowing look and calmly said, 'You saw it didn't you? Happens all the time here. You heard the footsteps yet? Seen the figure move through the bedroom and go through the wall? Why do you think I moved out as soon as I could? This is not a happy house. Only reason dad and my brother stay is because it's part of the farm.' I was there for 2 months.
Regarding the Amityville killings, the one thing that has always puzzled me was the fact that they were all found dead in their beds yet nobody heard the shotgun going off! If you have ever heard a shotgun go off, it's pretty bloody loud. I can't work that one out. No drugs in their systems, no signs of a struggle? No screams or shots were heard by neighbours. Now that is really weirdy beardy and makes you wonder what the hell took place there? As for what the Lutz family's experiences. I do feel that a lot can be due to their knowing full well what was happening there and if there was lingering unpleasantness, they would have been sensitive to it.
Sorry for the long post, but I would share.
Thanks Crime Reel. Look forward to your next crime.... well, not you personally ;)
Hey CR I was telling BC he has to start uploading on Weds with you so that us fans can watch both of our favs on the same day because, well, I'M GREEEEEDDDYYYY!! 😜😜
lol Swnsasy - I suspect BC is very happy with his Monday slot. It is hard keeping up with 2 a week. Mortis Media does 7 a week sometimes and he does anything from 20 mins upto 4 hour ones
I like it spread out. Gives us something to look forward to and helps cut back withdrawal jitters🤗🙃
@@TheCrimeReel Ikr! Love Mortis too! All 3 of you are just the absolute best! I'm just greedy hehe.. See you next week Sir! ❤️❤️
@@meemurthelemur4811 HAHA, you're right, you're right.. I'm horrible, WANT All.. Lol.. What do you think of Mortis? Great voice, great subjects too but, I don't see many real about his channel.. Gotta change that!
@@Swnsasy lol! 😹 Mortis is a different sort of criminologist. Where as Crimey and BC give us hard fact cases based on historically documented crimes, Mortis gives us singular first person accounts of creepy and/or paranormal events. While they're both very entertaining, it's very difficult to compare the two styles. With Mortis you either believe in the supernatural or you don't. If you do, his stories are entreating and thought provoking. If you don't then they are just fanciful entertaining tales. Either way, he is most certainly fun to listen to in the interim between Crimey and BC's cases.🤗🙃🌹🥰
Thanks Crime Reel.
Finally I feel like I got the full background of this story. Hell 👎 will I be living in a house that people has been brutally murder.
me too with you on that Chrissy, thanks
I think a lot of money has been made from books and movies, but its so tragic that a whole family was destroyed in the beginning.
Yes I know, thats very true, thanks Elizabeth
Hi TcR! I didn't get your notification, as i had a huge problem on my phone. I apologize! You know i never miss your videos! Mortis got your link, and sent us here.
