Damn hearing this, makes me realise how good 2000's R&B was, 90's-2000's R&B was literally something else!
I wish that kind of music came back now, because that style would definitely suit Ariana. I don't normally listen to her music but if this mashup was around on Spotify then I definitely would, in fact the problem with Ariana isn't her voice - she has a brilliant voice, it's the instrumentation and the song structure(lyrics etc) that let her down. But what these mashups have proved is that if you mix the right instrumentation with her vocals you have a banger of a tune. Funnily enough her vocals work really well with Rock music as well not just R&B, Into You mashed up with Numb by Linkin Park sounds amazing!
