Season 9 Episode 26: Uncle Sam Wants You

Sam has been spending a lot of time lately with the Cranes. More specifically, he has been spending a lot of time with Frederick. Each day, Sam arrives at their house a little earlier and leaves a little later. Frasier and Lilith finally tell Sam directly that he shouldn't be spending that much time with their son. Sam understands, but not until after the revelations that Sam likes kids and that Frederick now considers Sam more a father than Frasier.

I love that Sam adores little Freddie.
I like to think that once Frasier moves to Seattle, Sam became a father figure to Freddie since Frasier is several states away. After all, what we see of Freddie in Frasier, he doesn't have any of his parents attitudes and crushes on Daphne at an early age. I like to think that it is Sam's influence there.

Once Frasier left, there was no reason for Lilith to go back to Cheers, nor would she want to. And she definitely would not want her genius son to be under the influence of Sam, a former alcoholic/ball player/current womanizer or be anywhere near barflies like Norm and Cliff.
Plus, she never liked ANY of the gang (nor they her), she only hung around the bar because Frasier did. Once he left her and moved to Seattle, she no doubt devoted herself to getting Freddy into the best schools where he could socialize with the intellectuals.
I just can't see Lilith allowing Sam or anyone from the bar being in any part of her son's life once Frasier was gone.

There is going to be a 2019 reboot of "Frasier". The 30 year old son will be like "Martin" Crane and come off totally unlike Fraiser and Niles.

Easy Eight he’ll be like Sam too then. Although not confirmed, I’d say Sam is his godfather, and that he got most of his teachings from him. After all, Freddie isn’t like his parents at all when he appears on Frasier.

I'm a really nice, cool, lay'd back guy, and I think Sam is cool, but if he showed up at 5:55am I'd be telling him to get lost.
Though his situation is sad, but him bonding as much as he is with Frasiers kid is detrimental to all four of them.
