- There was a great hope across England when Henry VIII’s legitimate son Edward was born, but his birth and life would be tinged with sadness and tragedy. Shortly after the heir to the throne was born, Henry VIII’s third wife Jane Seymour died from childbirth related issues, but it was hoped that Edward VI would reign over England for decades and that his future children would secure the Tudor throne for centuries. This would not happen, and Edward VI did not really rule in his own right and power as he would die at such a young age, and it was clear that the King was very sick. It was noted that on the 15th February 1553, that the King was very ill as he was feverish and his elder sister and woman who would later dethrone his successor, came to see him shortly before he died. But what is the story of the death of Edward VI?
I always wondered if someone did try to poison him while also having the health issues.

It sounds as he definitely contracted TB. I also wonder why he wasn't buried in the same vault as his mother and father?
I think it's so good for our country that he died young because he was still the son of a completely cruel king. and then he demonstrated in his childhood that he was going to be like his father, he killed a bird with his own hands. if he had reigned long ago he would have made the people of our ancestors suffer, I even think that he would have been as cruel as the emperors Nero, Caligula and also worse than King Richard III and as fanatical as King Charles IX who made Saint barthélémi. In my opinion it is an excellent thing that he died, it is true that he was orphaned young but this does not excuse his behavior which could turn into fanaticism and cruelty the proof he even exiled his half sister Lady Mary who because she was Catholic yet she took care of him he has no recognition, he even approved the execution of his 2 maternal uncles he could have if he had a little humanity to veto but no Once again he shows that he is cruel. I pity the people who have had to endure the tyranny of this king, poor kingdom

They didn't know very much in 16th Century England; Medical and hygiene standards were low. There was no Penicillin and in those days they didn't have the technology.
Wondering if Spain had people constantly trying to do this kid in - being they knew that they wanted England be Catholic and their Prince was 'married' to Mary and that would give them a chance to rule more of Europe. Granted they do know how he died

I agree with all the adjectives "poor" that were used in many comments here below just with regard to the young age at which Edward VI died.
But as for the rest, I don't agree at all. This young prince was not a saint at all. He had both his uncles executed and was an extreme fanatic of Protestant faith. He even burned some Catholics, as far as I know. Surely nothing compared with Mary Tudor.
But still.. I think that fact should be born in mind when talking about Edward VI's reign.
