They were so feared in this respect that Western navies did not even bother to engage them in boarding actions, but instead stayed at a distance and relied on firepower . . . of which they had plenty. C) Later in her career, she did face a widespread revolt in her own ranks, which was a big part of what brought her career to an end.

Ching Shih's husband was also incredibly good at fighting and battle tactics. (pretty much anything to do with war) while Ching Shih was very business savvy and incredibly good at social engineering. Pretty damn good combination of brains and brawn.
I think it could work as a limited series. TV shows are usually a better medium for long stories and to tell her story you would need more than 2 hours.

She's definitely an awesome woman! Sometimes back in those days, you had to kill or be killed. But the fact that she did so with honor makes her a hero; one of my heroes. People like Caesar and Alexander the Great killed many more people than her, but retain their glory, because it was a different time. Even though i don't like that she killed people, I understand why she did it, and respect her immensely. The only way for a woman to earn real respect from the men of that time was to beat them at their own game, and that was a game of strength and force. Thank you for covering her! I wonder if Ching ever considered assassinating her husband. With his death (as we saw) she would gain unparalleled power, a power she could in no way gain on her own. At least, not in the amount of time it took for both her and her husband. Then again, she could have really loved him as well. Quite interesting
